Description of the Issue:
PCDC management has changed the Inclement Weather Policy to coincide with Loudoun County Public Schools. At their discretion, they will open PCDC even when schools are closed. If this were the policy in years past, here is how many days the center would be closed:
2004/2005 – 4 closures, 4 delays
2003/2004 – 8 closures, 6 delays
2002/2003 – 12 closures, 2 delays

Parents depend on PCDC for child care when they need to go to work. It is very difficult to find backup care at 6:00 in the morning. Many parents do not have the flexibility to work from home or take a day off at the last minute. For many parents, a 12 snow-day year would exhaust their entire allotment of vacation.

Recommendation:
Change the policy back to coincide with the Loudoun County Government. Parent prefer to assume PCDC is open and have it closed on days of significant storms rather than assume it is closed and let the Director make a decision on whether or not it is safe for the teachers to drive to work.

We, the undersigned, would like to encourage the owners of PCDC to change the Inclement Weather Policy back to coincide with Loudoun County Government.
