The Hall of Fame is not about inducting perfect human beings. It's about honoring those who made the sport great, interesting and fun to watch.

Dear Mr. Selig, We have all made mistakes. How long will Pete Rose have to pay? He was one of the greatest players and gave his all as a player to baseball and the fans. Why is it that when I visit the Hall of Fame, I pay addmission to see a few of Pete Rose's historical items, but I can't see his Hall of Fame Plaque?Baseball powers (Bud Selig)talk about INTEGRITY, then stop categorically deciding who should be punished or not!!Please Do The Right Thing. Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame!!!!!!

Look at the two newest players being inducted into the hall of fame (Ripken and Gwinn). These two played forever and both, great hitters, are at only 3,1?? hits a piece. We will not see a 4,000 hit player in our life-time, no questions asked. Barry Bonds is not even close to 3,000 for heaven's sake.

You're tellin me that you want juiced up Bonds to break Aarons record and be in the hall, but not the best player with the most love for the game ever to play. Reports have said even by Dowd, he only bet for his team. Whats wrong with that. He had faith in his team, something Bonds sure don't have.

Pete Rose has every right to be in the hall of fame. Betting is legal in America, and steriods is illegal? So why can't someone who doesn't break the law be in the hall of fame?

Since one of the ideas is to split strings not into words, but hopefully into phrases more semantically informative than the words they are made of, doing that better should mean better suggestions, and avoiding what essentially are word n-tuples should make for smaller data and slightly faster querying.

I always have terrible trouble with comment-related plugins that require me to put some line in the comment loop; I can never seem to find the right spot. Can anyone tell me where I should put the php line in my comments loop? I haven not modified anything much, and I would be very grateful. Thanks!

This 38 year old guy still remembers wanting to be Pete every single day of my youth while growing up in small town Arkansas. I'm not intimidated by anyone but even as a grown up, last year I couldn't even walk up to Pete while I was in Las Vegas. I just looked at him from a distance. And to think that I'm a lawyer that deals with people every day. I've made a personal commitment to not go to Cooperstown until he's in. Its an extreme injustice that I know will be corrected some day. I only hope its while Pete is alive.

Pete Rose is one of the greatest players to play the game. To rob him of that would be a travesty. Why does the baseball world shun him and celebrate Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Palmeiro, Sosa and others who have, without a doubt used steriods (something that actually affects the outcome of games).

Pete rose is one if the greatest players to ever play the game. Despite what they say, the hall of fame isnt about personality and values. mickey mantle and babe ruth had no moral values. Babe ruth was a womanizer and mantle a drunk. dont get me wrong, they were amazing players, not so amazing people. Pete rose absoulutey deserves to be in the hall of fame, he holds over 30 records. you must be crazy to say what he did should keep him out of baseball history.

He deserves to be in Hall of fame. Why does steroids pump up McGwire is not banned ? He was drugged up when he put his name in the record book. Is it more or less honest ? Pete Rose put his name in the record book while being physically clean. I guess time will tell who's honest...

Everyone make mistakes. Pete has paid for them and continues to pay for them today. Why refuse to recognize his greatness because of a few bad calls of judgement. He holds so many records, some that may never be broken; with something like that in the tables Rose should be able to join the Hall of Fame with the other greats of baseball. Without him, the Hall of Fame is missing apart of its history. Is that fair to the hall itself, to the many fans that go there each year, and to the other people that are remembered in it?
#150

Steve Meisenheimer said 11/23/05, 6:31 pm (verified)
Pete made a mistake of judgement by gamblin. However it is nothing compaired to the garbage that occurs by present players today. He deserves to be recognized for his playing ability and dedication to the game, not his poor behavior and misjudgement as a manager. Let Pete in the Hall of Fame. He was an important figure for me when I was a child. I tried to play like Pete and put the same effort into the game. Because of that effort I could of played college ball on a full scholarship at Oregon State and possibly followed a career that was similar to my Uncle Johnny Callison had. However, I choose a career in the fire service. Afterall, its a game.
