When will the breed ban end? Will you start rounding up retrievers when one bites a child? It is not the dog, let's license people and train people. Rescue the dogs and train the people. Although often associated with the breed, not all pitbulls are agressive. Agressive behavior is the result of abuse and neglect; tactics used by cruel owners to "make" a guard dog. Breed specific legislation is uninformed and against all that a society should stand for. Even a toy poodle would be dangerous should it be mistreated.
If Pit Bulls were human, rather than canine, wouldn't this be considered racial profiling & genocide? (A societal sin, according to media these days!) Let's compare this to... say... the Arabs here in the US, since many of them are evil, why aren't we eliminating all of them? Come on politicians, get your **** together!
Legislation to ban one breed of dog can only be detrimental. By doing this, they are simply putting more unwanted dogs out on the street or under a needle. ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS THINK ABOUT IT
Shame on Colorado, my native state, for this thoughtless legislation. Pit bull bans will do little to address the real problem that besets all dog breeds: bad owners who refuse to train, spay/neuter and show compassion for, the dogs in their care. Next time I get a call from the CU alumni fund, I'll happily explain that Colorado will receive no funds from me!
This is the one of the most ridiculous laws or ordinances I have ever heard of. Denver is killing nearly 100 pit bulls every month. How many dog bites has this prevented. Most likely a few. How many human deaths? Most likely none. When saving one child requires murdering hundreds or thousands of other animals does that make it right?
These animals are not disposable! Those owners and breeders who deliberately train them to act badly are the ones who need to be locked up. Address who is responsible for mistreating these animals to the point they distrust anyone or anything. Anyone who will mistreat an animal is not far from mistreating a human.
It's a terrible day when we as a society determine that a dog breed should be put to death due to the abuse of a few (people) -- Try fixing the problem.... The Breed's not abusive, owners that chain their dogs to 4' chains their whole life are. That would make any dog aggressive. Educate yourself on the breed(s) and you'll see what a great family pet Pits, Amstaff's and Bull Terriers are, far more lovable and loyal that most breeds.
NOT FAIR! Why should responsible pet owners suffer for the actions of drug dealers and other criminals! I say our law enforcers need to punish the jerks who steal, fight and use this breed as a status symbol!!
punish the deed not the breed.this is so sad.im a third generation pit bull breeder. and never once has any of our dogs. shown any agresion to people. wego to dog shows all the time and anybody can come up to my pits and never be afriad of getting bit
it could be the owners fault or inner breeding..the only 2 reasons ...they breed them to fight so they are inner breed...so kill the owers and start teaching the dogs there are nice people who will love them...
The problem is not the dogs. It is the humans who own the dogs. Banning pit bulls will only lead to banning other breeds. Soon no one will be able to own a dog. Let's work on making spay and neutering manditory! Let's punish the humans, not the dogs.
if you take away people's pit bulls are you going to take away the ones that do search and rescue/theropy and drug snifing too?? pit bulls do that stuff too
It seems like it should be illegal to discriminate against a specific breed and euthanizing people's pets is a terrible invasion of privacy and violates our rights.
Pitbulls and all kinds of dogs are NOT born bad or good it's the way there life is if they are used for fighting or gaurding they aren't going to be nice. If they are givin' a loving home and family they are going to be the sweetest dogs you'lll ever meet.
Some of these dogs are the sweetest & best family pets! Let's ban the people who help make them vicious & cause all this trouble!
this is horrible just because the owner does not raise the animal right. Does not mean the animal should suffer a few stupid people are now at fault for the murder of thousands of innocent dogs.
This is absolutely heartbreaking to think that people can be so cruel!!. Pitbulls are wonderful caring animals. It gets so publicised and overblown-any dog that resembles a P.B is called on even if it is not.There are dog bites everyday involving other breeds that you don't hear about.People should be ashamed!!!!
This is like a dog holocaust. Please don't kill innocent dogs because of a few people who raised their to be aggressive. Not all of us owners are ignorant.
These poor dogs are victims of either of the following: bad training, poor breeding + irresponsible upbringing. Thousand and thousands will live + die without having bitten anything or anyone. Being born bad and banning them is just stupid plain + simple
Not every pitbull is mean or vicious, it all depends on the way people raise them. Rather than blaming it all on the dogs, take care of the owners, they did it to the dog. No dog is just naturally vicious. No matter what breed of dog someone has, if the owner raises it wrong it can turn out vicious.
I have a Pit 10 months old who just loves my two girls 4 years old & 5 months old, he is also top dog in his obedience class. This just show the lack of knowledge and investigation on this breed and all of the people in office that passed this law should be dismissed!!!!
