I have a two month old pure red nose female. I love my dog, she is more loyal than anyone i know. She is loving and licks a lot and i love my dog. The only reason pitbulls have problems is because these "thugs" and drug dealers that beat their dogs use the dogs for guarding, attacking, and protecting the drug house from robbery.Let us rally together to keep our dogs. I love my Kaylee just as my daughter if i had one.
Pitbulls are the best dogs I have ever owed. My baby boy Solo is the sweetest. Only people who think pitbulls are mean are the ones who fight them or have never owned one.
Instead of banning specific breeds, legislation could come up with the law that requires responsible ownership. For example, in country I was born a license is required to get any dog of working breed (pits included) - to get the license, you have to go to classes and then commit to taking your dog to classes as well. This weeds out people that are not prepared to deal with serious breeds - whom we should blame for these sort of bans in the first place.
We need to rally together and do whatever it takes to get these laws changed! Innocent dogs are dying every day! Over 300 have all ready been killed!!! I am disgusted to live in this town and ashamed to be human!!! Animals are innocent creatures and it is not their fault that they were born a certain breed. Killing them for it is EVERY BIT as wrong and immoral as killing people based on their race!!!
You people need to get your heads out of your @sses and take control of the serious issues we face. Why are you so quick to ban a bread of dogs however, you procrastinate when it comes to punishing the rapists, child abusers/molesters, convicted murders and terrorists. Get a clue and take care of the serious things and leave our animals alone.
I would die for my dog....faster than I would die for some of my family...My dog does not discriminate against humans. Maybe we should learn from them!
i know a human of color got caught selling drugs to kids today but i bet that tommarrow we dont read in the paper they are banning that race; that is how ridiculous it is to ban the entire breed of pit bulls--as in every single thing grouped together on this earth; there are good and there are bad--never all of either.
This is complete bullsh*t - I had to "get rid" of my 2 year old pitbull, BODIE, because of these insane laws. Why dont you ever hear of the black lab's down the road that do terrible things, but yet still remain where they are. Pitbulls being singled out is prejudicial - they get sent to slaughter because a few bad owners trained their dogs to do inhumane things. Two wrongs dont make a right, and innocent dogs, should not have to pay the price. The government needs to spend their time, money and effort on better things like not letting convicted murderers and pedophiles walk the street. You don't see them being hauled off to slaughter. UNREAL.
Dogs are good or bad depending on how they are raised and treated. ANY dog can be mean if made to be so, but any dog, including pit bulls, can be sweet and gentle if the owners act responsibly toward it and know what the hell they are doing! This ban is stupid and only hurts people and hurts innocent animals even more! Don't ban and euthanize pit bulls - arrest and prosecute bad dog owners regardless of breed!
This is outrageous.Anyone who has an animal of any breed , shape or size , knows that there are NO BAD DOGS , JUST BAD OWNERS. I have been nipped , chased and biten , by smaller dogs such as chihuahua's ,much more often than any larger breed. But no one ever want's to BAN them , because they think they are small so how much damage can they do! Just like a child ,a dog is a DIRECT reflection of the owner. Fine the bad owners and give their dogs to people that care. Do not try to exterminate a whole breed.
i have been a guardian to two wonderful, loving pit bulls. sadly they have since passed away. i vehemently oppose SB861 and intend on adopting 2 more pit bulls. my close friend runs a rescue here in connecticut. he is doing amazing things for the breed. pit bulls are lucky to have people like him around.
there are loving homes for loving dogs...murdering them is not a solution. i will NEVER travel to california or colorado and spend my money in either place.
I was shocked to read about this. This is no worse than killing humans for their race. Just because they are a certain breed or LOOK like a certain breed doesn't mean they're all going to act the same. Same thing with humans, not all people of a certain race act anything a like.
I lover my pitbull Diamond, She is friendlier than the black lab we have! These laws are ludicrous and only show the ignorance of people and the power TV has on influencing people!
I have to pitbulls and I have never had such loving and fun dogs. I love them to pieces and I could never imagine them ever being mean. The scum of the earth are the ones that treat them like crap.
Like the saying goes, judge the deed not the breed. This is unfortunate that due to people's ignorance and the media's misreperesentaion of dog attacks that pitbulls have been given a bad reputation. What about the other dog bites that happen daily, why arent they being showed on TV? Are beloved pets/companions/true best friends are being singled out. I as a owner/parent of pitbulls I am also being discriminated against by society. How can they do this?????
I think this is outrageous behavior. Pit Bulls are sweet, loyal, loving animals if raised by the right person. It's the idiots of this world who don't know what they are doing that give these dogs a bad name.
I thought we had rights in this country!? Where are they? What about our loving beautiful pets who are being discriminated against because of stupidity, selfishness, and money! Euthanize these idiots who are giving the entire pitbull breed a bad name. I am fighting against my own town over my pits and they are the most loving dogs! Why can't people educate themselves about all the good that these dogs do and have done? Instead they only want to remember the bad and not read inbetween the lines on these beautiful courageous animals! I say pull the morons who killed all these animals from their homes and give them a taste of their own medicine--CRUEL AND UNUSAUL PUNISHMENT!!!! IT IS WRONG TO KILL--PERIOD. I WAS VERY ANGRY TO LEARN ABOUT THE MURDERS WHO DID THIS WHEN I GOT A CALL FROM A FRIEND OF MINE WHO LIVES IN DENVER. SHAME ON THE CITY OF DENVER FOR DOING THIS TO PEOPLES BELOVED FAMILY MEMBERS AND SHAME ON THE GOVERNMENT FOR ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN!!!WHAT ABOUT THE BREEDS OF DOGS WHO ARE NOT PITBULLS THAT HAVE BITTEN AND ATTACKED PEOPLE EVEN KILLING THEM? WHAT ABOUT THE ANKLE BITERS WHO I HAVE SEEN BITING AT FENCES TO TRY TO GET A TASTY MORSEL OF YOU? what about a little girl who lives in my town who was bitten by a german shepard in the face and now has to go through plastic sergery--but the animal is in a pen still alive! WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT!?
Banning or discriminating against breeds of dogs is the same as baning or discriminating against races of people. It's NOT the breed, it's the individual dog and, more importantly, the OWNER of the dog. I've seen and dealt with vicious Cockers and loveable Pitts and Rotts.
My pitt is a member of my family. Iwould nomore give her up than my wife or my son the city officials of Denver are not right. The people of Denver should be outraged.
I was once a non-believer in Pitt Bulls. A dear friend changed my heart along with her Pitt Gunner.
I am a volunteer at
a animal shelter, I believe the only shelter in Indiana that adobts out Pitt Bulls. I am in contact with Pitt Bulls and Pitt/Mixes on a weekly basis they are just as sweet as a lab or beagle.
Marcelous is my pit bull/boxer and is the lov eof my life he sleeps in my bed and plays at the dog park every day he is a perfect advocate for pit mixes i lov ehim with all my heart how can they think of banning such a loved member of the family. It is all in how you raise them, They are a sensitive breed and require tons of love and affection.
I have had to sell my house in Denver after living there less than a year just so that I could keep my pit-bull. I had to take a huge loss. Thanks Denver!
It is appalling to me that in this age of social awareness that there can be blatant discrimination reminiscent of a witch hunt. Of all of the potential dangers in our cities, why are a few isolated dog attacks by animals that may or may not be pit-bulls in the forefront. How about using some legislative power to round up the 491 registered sex offenders living in Denver among us, like the one that raped my girlfriend? Thanks Denver!
No, lets take away and murder loved members of my family. I raised my dog from a pup and he has never even growled at another dog or person and is highly socialized.
Implement a zero tolerance rule for aggression, for man and animal alike.
I've been raising and breeding pitbulls for 3 years!! They are absolutely wonderful dogs!! I own 4 myself, they are great around kids also other animals. If you raise them right and teach them obedience and tempermate control they will show no aggression. It's the owners not the breed!!
From the state that gave us Columbine and frostbite comes another strong argument that humans are devolving... I'm thinking the lack of oxygen to the brain at such altitude is really taking its toll.
The 4th amendment guarantees protection against unreasonable search and seizure without just compensation. Dogs are private property, as such the City of Aurora sets themselves up to be in a very actionable position. The people must unite and put an end to this senseless slaughter of animals in the name of "the greater public good" Punish the owners of bad pets, not the animals!
My pit was trained to know the difference between biting down on my hand and his toys or other inanimate objects. I strongly believe it is all about how these animals are trained and loved.
This is an atrocious act of discrimination and will never be justified or right, and only the ignorant or uneducated would disagree. It is never the animal, but the human. Animals do not know how to be aggressive naturally, they are taught. What about the discrimination against a race of people in the past? When black people were banned as humans and only determined as slaves? When women were only the property of their husbands? Or what about the unjustice against Indians in the past? All considered as objects, by the ignorant and uneducated. This is how these animals are treated as well. Who has the right to these decisions? The right to decide who lives and who dies? Do you have that power? And what gives you that power? Have we learned nothing?
Pitbulls are my absolute favourite breed of dog. I've never met one that was anything but friendly and can't imagine how anyone could think otherwise, just because some idiots treated them improperly. Our government in Ontario is looking to ban the breed as well and I hope to adopt one before this happens.
