Pitbulls (or any dog for that matter) don't know what they are doing..and thats where a responsible dog owner comes into play to teach the dog not to misbehave...Think about this, would you put a ban on children if they misbehaved because of unresponsible parents? No. So what's the difference between children misbehaving and dogs misbehaving?
I think that we should take our attention off of the dogs that have attacked people and place it square on those dog's owners... Ban pitbulls? Hah. Why not just ban unresponsible dog owners? or just make everyone that wants to buy a pet to take some kind of a proper pet care course to keep these unresponsible, ignorant bastards from turning a very loving, gentle dog into something it isn't...
it depends on how u raise any dog...if u raise it to kill ppl...then guess what...its gonna kill ppl...but if u train it to be a nice dog...itll be a nice dog...my neighbor's golden lab...bit this one kid's ear off and attacked my brother...and i thought lab's were supposed to be the sweetest dogs in the world
The only people who want to band pitbulls, are people who never owned one. I've had 4 and each one of them were easy to train and very loving. I have kids and my dogs wouldn't do anything to harm them. No matter what they do to that dog. There excellt house dogs. And people should start to get to know something before the just shut them out.
Pitbulls can be the cutest dogs ever. I used to volunteer at the anmal shelter, and i used to play with pitbulls. I would get my hand close to their mouth and they didnt bite. Eliminating the pitbull breed is not the right solution at all. By spaying or nutering them, they become less agressive. Do peple in Canada no kno that? That's y the pitbulls at the shelter where so calm and tame. People should really think twice before doing something so stupid as eliminating pitbulls. Plus, they are very good guard dogs, and they can be one of the beset dog breeds ever. So think twice people before you think of such a stupid and cuel solution.
Pitbulls are wonderful dogs. I think it is not the animals fault they're agressive, it's the owners. I think we shouldn't make a poor animal go extinct just because the owner wasn't taking care of them right. I mean, maybe the kid who got attacked was bothering the dog by throwing rocks at it or something. Besides, just because two dogs attacked somebody doesn't mean ALL pitbulls will.
pit bulls are not a bad breed. they are highly intelligent and very loyal, which is ahy they listen. it's not the breed, it's the owners who command them that's at fault.

I know so many pitbulls that are the sweetest dogs, and not ravage attack dogs like people describe them to be. It's all about how the owner brings them up to be.
It's the owner(s) decision how to raise there pets. but the police havn't done any research on the pitbulls. yes it could just be the owners but i personaly think its the food! maybe all of the dogs ate the same food and it affected them to act outragous!The police should search on this kind of act insted of standing around

i have a pit bull and he is the sweetest thing. i agree with pat, we teach them to be cruel to humans, so why should we teach humans to be cruel to them?
It goes against a pit bull's nature to bite humans, we teach them that. I have a male pit and he is the biggest sucky baby you will ever meet. Why blame and punish the animal when it's the owner's doing that makes them vicious. When we mistreat humans as babies, they grow up more often then not into vicious adults, why would it be any different with animals?
This is a total waste of tax payers money. Bannig pit bulls is not going to lower dog attacks. Owners should be responsible when handling any dog no matter the size, and how can you kill every pit bull when if you want real statistics then they should have a total count of how many pitbulls exsist and see how many attacks on humans and howmany attacks on other animals and i would be willing to bet my life that it would be no where near 50% and they want to kill them all. What do we call these people who can allow this to happen, " To me they're the ones who want to hurt and destroy a dog will only do what it knows so how can they kill the whole breed, wake up people and lets put an end to this nonsense.
it's so sad, the pit bull is one of the best dogs on the planet! i love my girls & they love me. people need to be educated on caring for these beautiful creatures & stop KILLING THEM!! i guess it's true people fear what they dont understand & what they dont understand they kill

This is a joke. We have two pits and they are loving family pets. It is not the breed it is the owners that need to be punished. Some people are just ignorant of the fact that these dogs have been unfairly portrayed as killers.

This is crazy. I love pitbulls and not all of them are violent espesially when they are raised rigfhht. This will only cause another breed of dogs to be turned intoo the "voilent" animal you are trying to get rid of. I am against this move.
With what kinds of people are pit bulls popular? LOWER INCOME AND MINORITIES. This ban is racist and politically motivated. I have walked a hundred pit bulls that were given up to a shelter in a lower-income area, and these dogs were all affectionate, even though they were homeless and scared. My own pit bull is the sweetest dog. Criminals who want a tough dog in Ontario will just turn to some other breed and train new dogs to be vicious. Ontario's politicians are taking the lazy route, punishing innocent dogs instead of criminals.
i believe that the owner of the breed should be held respnosible for any damages that the animal has caused. god made the breed for a purpose and you shouldnt be the ones that says that they can live or die. to me wat yall are doin is just as bad as abortions. please respect wat god and nature has givin to us and dont abuse it cus that brings consequences.

What you are doing is wrong. Weak laws have created the so-called "pit bull problem". When dog fighting goes unpunished, when back-yard breeding goes unpunished, and when the media is allowed to portray a breed in only a negative light, bad things happen to otherwise good people and a good breed. Ninety-nine percent of the the dogs are you confiscating are wonderful, loving family pets. What you are doing is only going to take the breed out of the hands of people that love them, and want to return the breed to what it was a few decades ago, and put it into the hands of the criminal element, who will only make the situation worse. Look at Prohibition. When alcohol was outlawed, the Mob took control of it, and the situation got worse. There was organized crime and people going blind or dying from bathtub gin. When you outlaw something, only the outlaws will have it, and what does that fix?
I think banning a breed based on what type it is, be it a Pitbull or a Poodle, is rediculous. I am owned by a beautiful, gently, and loving pitbull terrier. Instead of banning a breed, get a dangerous dog law.
pitbulls can be really nice dogs they r just harder to train then other popular dogs therwes harder to train dogs then pitbulls like mastiffs and rotts i have a chocolate lab pit micx its 7 or 8 months old its the sweetest dog ever and a couple of my buddy ahs a pit to and his ins a year old and it is well trawined its all about the trainer not the the dog u just need to put more tyme into them
I have recently viewed a government website which details a government study on dog attacks. This website names German Shepards, Cocker Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, and Rotweilers as the breeds of dogs that are most prone to bite. Nowhere in the study are pitbulls even mentioned. How can this government that puts out a study stating the above go ahead and ban pitbulls and not the above noted dogs which they claim are more prone to bite?
I have had pitbulls, as the "family pet" my entire life. They never once turned on me, bit me, or even growled at me. I don't know much about politics, but if you ask me all this pitbull ban **** is a waste of tax payer money. Why not use the cash on something more productive like preventing kiddy porn or violence against women??? Too much time and money on your hands?? My friend has been bitten twice on two seperate occasions by a rott. I don't see the whole city flippin out about that. I only type this trusting that you make the right decsion Mr. Michael Bryant.
Blame the owners, not the dogs! It's all about how the dog is raised. I've had a pitbull for almost 3 years, and she is the sweetest, most docile dog i've been around and she can't give anyone enough kisses. She is great with kids and LOVES everyone. She is so loving and loyal and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world! RAISE YOUR PITBULL WITH LOVE!

My children have lived their whole lives around pitbulls and pit mixes... They have always been the sweetest most loving and loyal dogs that I have ever owned... My pits were raised with the same love as my children and not one of them turned out vicious and out of control.. It's the owners not the breed that makes them what they are.

Why is it that our supposed leaders are not able to open their eyes and realize that this is not solving any problems. This isnt the breed its the owner. How many people are bit each and every day by a dog that is not a pitbull. I was attacked by a German Sheppard at the age of 5 simply just from passing by on the sidewalk where the dog lived and had gotten loose...I have scars to prove it...Am I afraid of them??,,,No Im not dense enough to think that the entire breed is bad based on a dog that obviously had irresponsible owners. People make Pitbulls the way they are! If you treat them like a living creature and respect them as much as you would people, you would never have to worry about Pitbull attacks unless they were for nothing more than well needed protection. I have been the owner of 15 lovely and wonderful pitbulls in my lifetime and they were the sweetest, most gentle dogs ever! Why ban sometime that does nothing wrong except obey it's owner!! I am the Proud Mother of 2 beautiful babies ages 6 & 7. I have had them since 3 & 6 weeks old. They are the most loving lap dogs in the world. Your dog is a reflection of you as a child is a reflections of the parent. So, let me get this straight. Out of the Millions of Pit Bulls in the world you want to ban this Breed for the owners reckless owners stupidity and sentence them instantly to death. But, yet Child Molesters and Psycho's like Charles Manson, Richard Ramirez, and Millions of other Murderers are allowed to be released back into public, given life in prison, or sentenced to death and living another 20 to 100 years before they ever see the their execution date.

i am a proud "momma" of two beautiful, healthy, KIND, and loyal pitbulls. other than demolishing the breed, list rules and regulations to buy the breed. for example, have manditory classes for future owners to take, and qualify to own a pit bull. don't punnish them, punnish the ignorant people who hurt them.
I feel that bannning a breed based on the news reports on dogs attacking people is rediculous. Instead of just banning because of hurting someone. ANY dog is capable of attacking someone. It has to be based on how the puppy or dog is raised how it is cared for etc.
I mean if a dog any dog that is abused, negleted, and starved then there's a reason and a 100% chance that the particular animal will turn on anyone because it hasn't felt the love and care that a dog would normally.
It's stupid. Any dog can be a good housepet it just takes the time and training that humans should be doing right from the start.
The idea of banning a breed becuase of a few attacks due to poor training and puppy socialization on the behalf of poor and lazy owners is just insane.
