After owning a previously abused pitbull I strongly believe that the problems with the breed are the way they are misused by the dredges of society for their own personal means. She is now rehabilitated to being the most affectionate creature with all members of my family, friends and other pets. Instead of banning them impose stiffer penalties on those that abbuse them or even make owners prove that they are able to correctly handle them through one of the many trainers out there. I'd be more than happy to go through that to have another one of these magnificent animals
Pitbulls are not viscious, the human population just doesn't know how to handle the breed. It is proven that Pitbulls have BETTER temperment than Golden Retrievers!
pit bulls should not be banned people who created this law found the easy way out of incidents that occured, dogs need attention and if you dont give it to them they act out of personality. why direct all punshiment to one animal im sure the owner had part they could have trained it better. sometimes its not the dog its the owner and why punish all the dogs for what a couple incident that happened
I believe it is not the dog it is the bad owners that we need to blame! My pitbull is 4 1/2 and he has NEVER hurt a soul, he loves cats, kids, adults, everyone.. it is the way you raise the dog! NOT the dog itself.
I support this petition becaue I have rescued pitbulls for 8 yrs. I Have also worked in a animal rescue and currently work at an animal hospital. I have yet to ever to be bit or attacked by a pitbull yet I have been attacked by, a lab, beagle, collie, german shepard badly, and a golden retreiver. we sigh a relief when we walk in an examining room and see a pitbull on the table. For one they have a higher pain tolerance, for another they were actually bred NOT to bite people. Its recently that BAD people (drug dealers, kids trying to look cool, ect...) that have been making them aggressive. Any breed can be taught to fight, kill or attack people...this just happens to be the one they choose to use right now. Getting rid of a breed of dog will not solve the problem, there will always be another scapegoat they can use. They need to go straight to the propblem and make a ban of these types of people owning a dog, let alone any pet, or having a child.

Pitbulls are very loving and sweet dogs I do not own one myself but I know of people who do. The breed itself isnt visious it is how the dog is treated and I think that this ban on pitbulls should not have even been meantioned but it was and the ban has been passed and I do not think that this is right if you are going to ban one breed you might as well ban all dogs from ontaio because they can all become visous due to how they are treated!

I am the proud owner of 3 dogs. A Chihuahua, a Labrador retriever and a Pitbull. Of my 3 dogs the Pitbull is the least of my worries. He is the kindest sweetest dog I have ever seen, not a bad bone in his body. Which is why I WILL NOT muzzle my pit. What has he done to be put to that treatment? Nothing! It pains me to see this ridiculous ban on Pits.
Granted some dogs of ALL BREEDS are just not friendly that is up to the owner to take responsibility and deal with the animal so that people are safe. It’s ALL breeds not just the Pitbull’s. The Government needs to accept that and change the laws appropriately and FAIRLY and not pick on one breed specifically!

I own two "pitbulls" they are the biggest babies. They love my kids and keep a watchful eye on them when they play outside. Pitbulls are very loving and loyal. People who abuse the breed by teaching it to be violent should be punished not the dog. There was an attack right after the ban was in affect and the breed was not even a pit, it was black lab. Do you hear them talking about banning labs, no. There is no need to ban breeds of dogs but to ban certain people from owning dogs.

Nobody should judge a book by its cover so why would you judge a dog by its breed. Don't give any kind of negative comment towards a pitbull until you own one then you'll have a completely different mindset and or opinion.
I think it is ridiculous that my 13 year old son cannot walk my 20 lb staffordshire bull terrier down the street without being in violation of a law when my neighbors 8 year old daughter can walk her 150 lb rottwieler, with no muzzle and on a leash that is way to long for any control of the dog. My dogs are no bigger than the average Jack Russell Terrier and I can't walk them without muzzles, and half to post warning signs and have the police harrassing me about my two little dogs while in the town I live there are several dogs running free, including Saint Bernards, German Shepards, Labs and Golden Retrivers. For the record Staffordshire Bull Terriers have never attacked a person in Canada while Golden Retrievers are the number ONE biter in North America. Tougher Dangerous Dog Legislation is acceptable certainly, while Breed specific banning is absolutely not.
I support this petition because it's never right to kill an animal. To kill off the whole breed is even worse. There is no reason pitbulls can't be raised loving. If you're going to kill off pitbulls because some of them are mean. Then why aren't we exterminating the human race along with it?

Pitbulls are only thought of as agressive because they are often the dogs used in dog fighting. Now they have a bad rep because what PEOPLE did to them not because they have an aggresive nature.My dog is part pitbull and I also own a German Shepard. I moved and now all my new neighbors are afraid because we have "aggresive" dogs. I always have friends over and so does my little brother and my dogs never ever hurt anyone!
Any dog will be agressive, given the treatment it recieves from the owner. Pitbulls are beautiful dogs. What pisses me off is that there are MANY MANY MANY other breeds that have the aggressive nature to them.But theres no ban for them (not saying there should b). Punish the owner..not the dog

I support this petition. I have three Pitbulls right now and this ban is having a major affect on me. I have limited income but I love my dogs and I had to pay over $900 Canadian to fix all my dogs because I didn't want them taken away from me. I am not a crack dealer in Toronto who locks up my dogs and make them mean. I socialize my dogs with people and other dogs. I want to be able to let them run and have exercise. They can't be cooped up in the house all day and walking them with a leash on is not always what's best for them because they can't get their powerful spurts of energy out. I am moving from Ontario because I don't like the restrictions being but on me just because I own a wonderful pet. I am thankful though because I got to see my female give birth to three healthy litters here in Ontario. Unfourtunatly because of the Pitbull bias two have been put down by the pound just for being Pitbulls and another family had their dogs poisoned in Niagra Falls (He was a great dog and the person who did it really owes that family an apology) and I had a two month old puppy run over by a Speedy Cab driver ON PURPOSE. All because of a pitbull bias.
Raquel's mother, Tobie, rescued a pit bull once. and was very glad she did. It was very touching to see Tobie, Raquel and Leo care for the dog until adopted. I agree that the dog behaves poorly if not trained, or if neglected.
Why not just save time, and ban idiots that train Pitbulls for dog fighting. They are mean. People make them mean by miss treating them, so they can be used for fighting and as watch dogs. Blame the humans, not the dogs. I've seen so many pitbulls who are perfectly nice because they were raised well and are treated well. It's only once they are trained or provoked their entire life to fight that they will actually become violent. People are saying ban pitbulls, please, why don't we ban humans instead? You can't ban a breed because of some examples. That's like saying oh, a preschooler kicked a classmate. Let's kick all preschoolers. A high school kid got in a fight. i am against the banning of pitbulls in ontario. pitbulls are the best dogs that anyone can have. i own a six month old pitbull and he is just the sweetest dog. i got him when he was just 2 months and since then all my family and friends love him so much. now that is snowing here where i live he just to play in the snow with my 5 yr old daughter. Tyson(the dog) is my daughters best friend. she would cry for him if he is not home. and i don't know what i would do without him. he is my baby boy. so people stop!!! talking trash about pitbulls, is the owners fault. golden retrievers are in the number one spot in biting people and other dogs.

And he tried to get it back and could not because, he was said to be vicious when he really was not he was the most loving dog I have ever seen. And my cousin could not get him back but he is now in a loving home!

Every dog can be vicious If it is not raised properly. Any dog raised in a loving home can be calm and beautiful. My pittbull Oxide will be a year old in Jan and he is amazing with children and other animals. Yes he thinks he tough and may bark but the min you get up to him hes licking your face off.
Its funny how every few years there is a new dog on the hit list that are "Bad" dogs... used to be Rotties, and Dobermans, and even German Shepards... I think it is sad that our government is going to these lengths to ban a dog breed when the "Bad dogs" aren't bad.... the owners are! Maybe we should start a petition to ban bad pet owners.
