You know I'm gonna support you on this, Trisha. Banning pit bulls in my
state...I've never even heard about that until now. I'm gonna
support this 100%. And you give good reasons, too. ^^ |

I agree with this. Yes, it IS in the breed's nature to be aggressive,
as they were bred for dog fighting, but simple obedience training like just
about EVERY dog gets can tech them to hold that in...it's just what
they do for humans. Instead of banning the breed, why not force pit bull
owners to have liability insurance? After all, if their dog gets out of
control, it IS, in fact, the owner's fault. The dog doesn't know
better, the owner does...and the person who DOES know better than to let
the dog attack someone SHOULD.
Stop taking irresponsible pet owners' stupidity out on animals.
It's just NOT RIGHT. |

The media will gladly publish stories about the horrible things these
breeds have done, but dismiss any good acts. Have you heard about the the
rottie that saved a woman from a fire? Notice how tiny that article is, how
breif it is. If that same dog would have bitten someone, it would be two
pages long. Why don't they talk about the rottie that assists learning
at Stamm Elementry?. How come they don't talk about the Pit Bull that
saved a family from a fire? Why doesn't the rottie who won the ASPCA
Dog of the Year title for it's contributions to animal therapy get
mentioned on the airwaves? |

hello there :
CNN even once reported in their newsticker "Pit Bulls are genetically
immune to pain." Uh, WTF? Last time I checked, a pit bull is a dog,
and dogs are vertebrates with nerves that trigger pain. |

I think that the idea of a whole breed of dogs suffering for the poor
choices humans make is heartbreakingly blind and ignorant. Banning a breed
will by no means solve the problem. Do you really think that every single
dog can be wiped out? People will go to some pretty crazy extents for
their animals. Also, what about the breeds and mutts that are mistaken as
pitbulls? This happens often enough to raise the question. Will they be
put down mercilessly as well? |

I support this petition and am disgusted that now we would even have our
domestic pets decided for us? And all with the now- familiar refrain:
"for our safety and protection." Sounds a little bit like
fascism to me. This ban/extermination program is based in ignorance.
AmStaff/"Pitbulls" are just dogs like any other breed.
Unfortunately, they've been cruelly exploited unlike most other breeds
by those who choose this breed for all the wrong reasons. Be that as it
may, the vast majority of these terriers never make headlines and live out
their lives happy and well-loved with owners who acquired them from a
reputable breeder who breeds specifically for good temperament. The truth
is that any large breed dog has the capacity to do physical harm. In the
50's Dobermans were viewed as Public Enemy #1. Now, it's
"Pitbulls." And so on...Extermination is not the answer.
Learning about the breed paired with responsible dog ownership is. |

I support this petition 100% I have had a pitbull for the past 4 years and
he would hurt a fly. He is the sweetist dog I have ever owned. He weighs
70lbs and thinks he's a lap dog. I do hear things on the news about
pitbulls but no more than i hear about other dogs... and actually the last
thing on the news i did see about them was a female pitbull taking car of
an abandend litter of kittens. |

Dogs are like (human) babies when they are first born....they don't
know any better....when they start doing things that are bad as they grow
up....they pick it up from people....but in this case the people the dogs
are around the most would be their owners.....so don't blame them for
how poorly you act or react towards them. |

okay, wy are they blaming dogs for what the owners do? i mean, the owner of
the pit bull is mostly responsible for the care and if he/she is neglectful
of the dog, the dog may to things for attention, or the owner itself could
be training the dogs to attack, such as guard dogs. pit bulls shouldnt be
blamed for what they are taught to do, their owners should. |

I support this petition. I VERY firmly believe that the pit bull
extermination/ban is the most ignorant and foolish thing that the
government could possibly do. I have a pit bull mix and he is the absolute
sweetest dog you'll ever meet. He is part of the family and everyone
that meets him loves him. The government controls our lives enough already,
they shouldn't be able to take away our family! |

Pit bulls are GREAT dogs. That would be like banning a certain group of

would be an amazing world if ignorance was gone. NO MORE SPECISIM!! |

For three and a half years I defended this country. The dogs are not to
blame...the only ones at fault here are the ignorant people that do not
watch, or show their pits enough love, or the ignorant people that torment
a pit bull, leaving it no other choice to attack. I not only defended the
freedoms of those that live here, but also out four legged friends as well |

I support this petition. I have a pitbull myself. She runs around and
plays with my ferret. Guess what she does to anyone who comes in the
house....bite? Hell no. She licks a hell of a lot and tries to sit in
their lap. And just for the record, the first time I met my friend's
chihuaha, it bit me, repeatedly. Never got so much as a growl from a
pitbull. They're really happy hyper dogs in nature. Look it up... |

own 2 pitbull males that are great dogs and loyal family.Alot of people I
know also have pitbulls and we all say the same thing ..."It's all
in how the are raised ,if you raise them with love and around children they
will be the most loyal and loving animal you will find . If you raise them
to be killers ,that is what they will be ." Don't ban the pitbulls
its not their fault that people treat them like ****. |

I'd love to do to the owners what they do to their dogs to make them so
aggressive & see how they turn out. & to the owner of the search & rescue
pit bull, how did resist not bashing in the head of that golfer with his
own golf club? I've had my dog since he was abandoned at 2wks old. From
what we are told, me coud possibly be half pit bull, are they going to come
take my baby away and euthanize him? Over my DEAD BODY! Punish the deed,
not the breed! |

I support this petition. The law, while it may be meant to protect our
society, is the wrong course of action. It is a reactionary law, not a
good law. It would be a much better use of our tax dollars to educate
people about the truth about all dogs, rather than destroy innocent lives.
The owners of bad dogs should be punished, not a breed of dogs who cannot
speak for themselves. This law is stupid. It is the same thing as
genocide. What is next? Should we kill all Arabs, because some of them
are terrorists? This law would amount to the same thing, and it is
dangerous! It open the door for other laws that could even lead to the
extermination of our children. If you think I am crazy, take a look at
History. Look at Hitler, Stalin, George W. Bush, to name a few. Be
careful!! |

I support this petition. A human will attack someone out of nowhere, plot
to kill, and even carry out matters that are more unspeakable, yet we have
not banned them from our states, we allow criminals to return to our

should take into consideration the people taunting these animals and
training them TO act out violently, but don't blame the dogs. |
