They should learn that it's not in the dog's nature to be mean.
Like humans, they're taught what to do and feel. This ban is one of
the most outrageous bans I've ever seen. |

I have a Jack Russell Terrier that is more agressive than any pit bit I
have met!!!!! She loves people, and she was trained well and not abused and
loved very much. That is what makes the difference...LOVE. You give love
and you get love in return. Pit bulls are great dogs. Euthanize the bad
owners, and anyone caught making them fight. Now that is a petition I would
sign.... |

banning pit bulls is purely human ignorance...
please protect these animals. if there has to be something done, then
punish those people who disrespect these animals. humans can't decide
on which animals to get rid of. they have every right to live as much as
we do. if you don't have the appreciation for something that can offer
love, loyalty, friendship, protection, and many more good and rare
qualities, then at least do something helpful: do not get a pit bull (or
any other pet). Get a life. |

It should be the owner that is punished not the entire breed of dog!
That's ridiculous and sterotyping which is against the law for us to
punish someone or assume guilt just for the way they look. |

Punishing an entire breed for something that is not their fault is
inexcusable. It is discrimination by closed minded people that stereotype
the animal. |

This is insane! I just read about this in an artical on the internet and I
am disgusted!! Due to the stupidiy of irresponsible owners who train their
dogs to fight... the rest of the loving parents have to suffer. All I have
to say is, the person who is attempting to try and pass this law is
inhumane, and apparently not an owner of a dog. And if it this person is a
dog owner, see how much they would like their pet taken away!!!! A pit
bull is a dog and is trained to be the way they are. Maybe next they will
try to ban Yorkies because they are too small, or kittens because they
scratch!!! THIS DISGUSTS ME!!!! |

I never stop being shocked a appalled by the knee jerk reactionary
qualities of under educated and misinformed humans. What a pitiful species
we are as a whole. We should ban stupid people, not dogs. While I'm
at it what about all the other dangers facing us like environmental
degradation, cars, guns and hunger just to name a few? Check out these
websites www.atts.org (this is the national canine temperment association
so you can see how pitbulls measure up in temperment),

I support this petition 100% and hope my voice is heard. I am an owner of
2 pitbulls - both are beautiful loyal animals. I treat them well and they
treat me well. What if we said we should exterminate owners who abuse and
mistreat these animals and make them into defensive creatures? Would that
be right? They do what they are taught. Not only is this immoral but
unethical to blame an animal for it's owners treatment and actions.
People we need to stop this - I don't live in California but if it
starts there it's soon to make it's way to the East Coast and I am
not giving up my family members because of someone else's mistakes. |

I'm still morning the loss of my best friend; a red nose brindle Pit
Bull named Scrappy. He was a fine ambassador of his breed and changed many
peoples minds about Pit Bulls. He was rescued at 8 weeks from a life of
pain and abuse. You see Scrappy was destined to be a champion fighter and
line his owners pockets with blood money like his father did before him. My
wife and I gave him a new life full of love and friendship. We raised him
properly and although he looked intimidating he was gentile and sensitive.
He was obedient to the extreme and loved children and cats. He was a
fearless protector that would have given his life to protect the ones he
loved (how many people can you honestly say that about). His mere presents
kept my wife and I from harm more times then we'll ever know. The only
times I ever saw him as much as show his teeth to a human where justified.
Both times we where on vacation and someone was obviously casing us out
with the possible intent to mug or car jack us. One look at him sent them
packing. Somehow I doubt that any breed not on the “ban list” would
have had the same effect. Scrappy met his end as the result of the second
class treatment for a urinary infection the resulting complications he
received from a vet who like many uneducated people feared Pit Bulls.
Unfortunately we found out too late that that particular vet has a history
of giving second class treatment to the all of the warrior breeds. By the
time we figured that out and took him to a competent vet it was too late.
The competent vet confirmed that if the proper action would have been taken
by the other vet when we first brought him in he could have been saved.
I'll never forget his last moments and the pain of making the decision
to put him to sleep. It was more like deciding whether to euthanize an
adopted son than a pet. He was holding on to life with every fiber of his
being even with a burst bladder, complete renal failure, and blood work
that |

This attempt at a pit bull ban is wrong on many levels. It is inhumane, not
to mention heartless. Why does somebody else get to tell me which dogs I
can and cannot have. Dogs are naturally loving and devoted animals.
Agression is a learned trait and a helpless dog cannot be blamed. We cannot
let the ignorant opinion of a few legislate the rights for us all. |
