Pitbulls are wonderful animals. Its the idiot humans who mistreat them that
you should ban. And contrary to popular belief, they are ranked #1
concerning their behavior around children. Try to find a middle ground.
Don't let any idiot own a pitbull. They deserve more respect than that.
I think this entire thing is disgusting & I abhor the way it is being
handeled. I'm sickened by this entire thing. |

I want to fight the ban on Pit Bulls as well as any other targeted breed.
The dogs know only what they are taught or not taught! This ban on breed
specific dogs are just another type of racisim in a breed of animal. |

Pit bulls, like any dog, are loving and sweet by nature. We make them
bad...how can we first turn them bad...and then kill them for it? It's
completely irrational...it's like burning down the house to roast a
pig. I can't imagine anyone supporting the idea to kill puppies and
thousands of members of people's families...because that's what
dogs are. They are members of the family. The abused ones can be
trained...taught not not all humans are bad so they don't have to
defend themselves all of the time. This just can't happen... |

The city in which I live in is now trying to ban Pit Bulls on its own. I
obviously disagree with this since I OWN Pit Bulls, I am starting a
petition for my area as well. Would you have any ideas that might help? I
have owned these dogs for the past 7 years, I have never had even 1 out of
12 dogs that I either fostered or raised bite one person or animal. Instead
I have had 1 so nice that she was stolen from me by a person running a
puppy mill. I was fortunate to get her back although she was pregnant.
This started in my breeding of the dog. Now if they were such a bad breed
why would someone call me up 2 years later and ask for another puppy? I get
in arguments with lots of people over this, and all I can say is show me a
bad dog and Ill show you a bad owner, I do feel that there should be some
restrictions on owning them, but only because to many are faught, or bred
to death, made mean, etc. But I also feel that the good owners who
understand and know the dog and its temperments and know how to raise and
treat them should not be punished for the bad owners who have helped in
giving the dog its bad rep. |

I used to own/run a small but successful dog training business. No dog is
INNATELY violent! They learn just like our children do to either be
violent or not! Dogs are like guns... they dont kill or hurt people unless
YOU want them to. Meaning you must train and treat them to do such things.
Chihuahuas can be just has threatenning as any other breed thats 5 times
their size... lets ban them too. Stop being morronic people! |

I am not in support of banning any breed of animal!! It's time that the
owners of dogs that bite be made responsible for their dogs and their
children, not exterminate them because people are stupid!!
I have recently adopted a boxer who was tormented by children (boys) and I
am having to rehabilitate her to not be afraid of young boys because
somebody else didn't protect her!! |

This is absolutely ridiculiuos! Pit Bulls ARE NOT born killers. Anyone with
a brain knows that THE OWNER of the dog determines his/her personality. I
have been around loving pit bulls my whole life. I have never felt
threatened. The only dog to ever bite me was a daschund. I do not blame the
dog, I blame the owner. I now own a daschund and I could not ask for a
sweeter, loving dog!Let's get to the SOURCE of the problem, my guess is
next we will target Rotweilers, just remember you have to train ANY dog to
be mean.Genetics does not factor or play any king of role. |

It's honestly sad, when a 14 (me) year old understands that its not the
animals "instincts" or "bad behaviors" or cretin breed
that makes that dog dangerous! It's the owner, and the dog’s
environment. If you were to put a pit bull puppy in a house with no
civilization, just food, water, and another dog such as a poodle, or a
German Sheppard, that pit bull wouldn’t behave as if it was brutal &
aiming to hurt someone just BECAUSE! They will always and forever have a
reason to lash out. People just love to blame ANYTHING and EVERYONE they
can as long as they don't have to take the blame;; Well it's time
for our governments to "grow some balls" (fowl but extremely
true) and take responsibility for their actions. My names Alisha Montague,
I'm 14 years old, and I GLADLY sign this petition, just hoping that my
words might possibly make a difference in peoples lives. |

I do not think a breed should be banned because certain owners have raised
the dog to fight or to be mean. Dogs will do what their masters want and
what they think will make their masters happy. I have never met a mean Pit
Bull in my life, I am more afraid of the little dogs biting me than I am
afraid of a Pit Bull. It is not the dogs fault it is the owners fault. Why
punish an animal for something a human did? |

I am not a dog person. However 1 1/2 years ago I flund Colby. A 6 week old
Pit Bull. He is the love of my life. He loves Children, dogs, cats, and
adults. He loves going on walks and is afraid of his own water dish. He is
scared of lotion and such things. How can someone think he is a cruel and
dangerous animal. I live in Skagit County Washington. In this county a pit
bull is not even considered a threatening dog. Other dogs such as golden
retrevers, dalmations, and taco dogs are all on the dangerous list. Coly
may seem scary when you first meet him until you see his tail is wagging
and he is whining for your attention. He sleeps with a 5 year old. He has
never bit a person or animal. Colby is a lover. He is the most well behaved
animal I have ever had. He is my sunshine. I live him with all of my heart.
If you would like to see Colby, please go to myspace search under my name
and look at his picture. Punish the deed not the breed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

You can make ANY dog mean and vicious. It is all in how they are raised
and taken care of. We need to crack down on the people who own the dogs
and dont treat them right, not all the breed. I own two pit bulls. They

is just wrong. |

We have to stand up sooner or later and take control. Our laws are becoming
totalitarian. These animals behavior is based on how they are raised.
Therefore if we want to exterminate those responsible for aggressive
bahavior, exterminate the owners who caused the dogs to be this way. I was
bitten by a chihuahua when I was young but I dont see anyone going after
them. |

change that. I feel for all the families that have pitbulls that are as

as we are in NEW YORK STATE |

If I am wrong, correct me.. but wasn't it OUR fault, as humans that Pit
Bulls are feared today, and known as "dangerous"? Wasn't it
us that forced these dogs to fight in an arena for their life? For a speck
of food? A bit of love? Wasn't it us that deprived these poor creatures
of every right they have? The right to live and be happy?
And now WHAT ARE WE DOING? Punishing these breeds further... by trying to
eliminate them? What did they do wrong by trying to live?
What would you do if you were locked up in a cage your whole life..
starving and beaten, and FORCED to fight in front of laughing, jeering
audiences? Would you just lay there.. feeling love in your heart for these
savage beasts who were holding you against your will? What would you do? As
a part of planet Earth do you think this is fair?
And dont get me wrong.. not all Pit Bulls were bred to fight. And I doubt
that "that loving dog across the street" would have any intention
of hurting another dog or human being, unless provoked. |

all means do what is necessary, but please do not strip them of their

I have a beautiful female Pit Terrier. She is the sweetest dog I have come
in contact with. In my neighborhood there are a lot of Pit's and even
the ones who are meant to only protect are still sweet and loving animals.
I also have a small dog and my Pit is nicer. They shouldn’t try to punish
the dog for doing what is was meant to do, protect themselves and the
people that they love. It would be like raising someone to be poor and
uneducated and then punish them for doing what you taught them to do. |
