I work in a vet`s office and grew up in one. I`ve been around animals my
entire life. To ban a breed based on the few "bad" cases is
outragous. We don`t euthanize black people for their rap and talking about
killing people and how bad they are and what else because even tho they are
there, there are the good ones too. We don`t destroy all pigeons because
they carry all disease.
Basically, there is no true "support" to kill off a breed
because of what bad occurances have happened. Why don`t you do something
about the backyard breeders who breed the pitbull to be a mean, aggressive,
fighting dog? How about that? No, that would be much to difficult, instead
will just kill them all.
I hope that with a petition like this, people can figure out that it`s not
the dog's error, but human error. I know plenty of nice Pitbulls out
there who make great family pets.

I owned a pit bull for 16 years. I have never had a more loyal loving dog
than it. I also owned two chows from different lines that both would bite.
It is temperment and training. I raised the pit bull myself and got the
chows already grown. |

As others have said before me, it is ridiculous to exterminate an entire
breed because some dog owners don't know how to train their pets. I got
attacked by a chow when I was little, but I don't have a problem with
all chows! Grow up!! Are we going to start doing that with different kinds
of people, too? "Oh, sorry, too many blacks/hispanics/(you fill in the
blank however you want) are commiting crimes - guess we have to kill them
all for our 'overall safety and protection.'" Pretty
ridiculous sounding, huh? I can't believe our government is even
wasting their time with this stuff. Aren't their any more pressing
matters they could be attending? |

Now we debate the genocide of this beautiful breed and companion. It is a
sad society that blames an animal for a humans mistake. Media has made
this breed a monster, and communities are ignorant to the advantages and

I agree with you I am an owner of a beautifull pit bull, named andreana,
she is my life and has always been a loving dog, and I do not agree with
people who feel it is right to exterminate an animal based on there breed,

This is crazy! Pitbulls aren't the only dogs out there that bite! (Your
point with the poodle. I work at a vet clinic and i can tell you i've
seen more aggressive poodles and lab's than any bully breed) So what we
should euthanize all dogs??? It doesn't make any sense. This is just a
insane power trip by the wrong people!!! It's almost pathetic how
ignorant people can be. How sad! |

I agree that they should not be ban!! I have three pit bulls and they are
all angels to each other and other dogs and everyone who enters our home!!
I have a 3month old who they absolutely adore and my neice and nephew
too!!! Its not fair to all pits just because a few get carried away because
their owners either taught them wrong or wasn't watching them like they
should have been! Trainging them and showing them love~makes them the
greatest companions ever!!! So let them live its not their faults!!!!!!!!
There are other dogs that have attacked to but it doesn't get brought
about like this breed does!!! |

Although a dog's breed can influence it's behavior it the dog's
environment that truly makes the dog. You can label a Pit Bull Agressive
and ban them because they've been known to be aggressive in the past.
What about German Shepards? Rotweilers? Are they not known as aggressive
breeds? Why are the Pitt's being called out? This is just silly,
instead of banning a breed, educate people on how treatment and environment
affect amimals' personalities! |

It's not the dog's fault. The behavior is learned and the behavior
is encouraged by the owner, but the owner doesn't know it. The owner
isn't irresponsible, just misinformed with false information which they
believe is truth in teaching behaviors and creating a safe and healthy
dog. |
