I don't think banning Pit Bulls would solve anything. I think we need to punish bad owners for the deeds. This is unamerica that we are banning Pit Bulls. I thought we stop discrimination in the 60's. Pit Bulls have a passing rate far better than most smaller dogs.
if the animal is judged by what the owner has done to it then shouldn't the owner also be punished to the fullest extent of the law? Any breed can be raised to be kind, the human it belongs to is another story.
Pitbulls are the most loyal and loving dogs in the world. Its all the "LOW LIFE" owners who train them to be mean because they never found their own confidence in life so they take advantage of this AWESOME Breed to make up for it. We are so lucky to have this breed in the world. For all the true losers in life fighting dogs just remember you will pay for your sins! What Animal Do I Speak Of?

Their love is like no other,
their heart as pure as gold.
Yet while going on a friendly walk,
they're faced with stares of cold.
They're so very close to human,
in how they act and what they do,
Unless you've known their devoted love,
it's impossible to explain to you.
They are greatly more misunderstood,
thany any other breed.
We tend to punish this loyal dog,
Instead of mankind's deeds.
They are always and forever clowns,
with a wish for center stage.
Yet while displaying this sense of humor,
most people disengage.
They, oh, so want to make new friends,
and run and jump and play.
Yet when they happily approach,
most people shy away.
Often I've seen children poke,
or hop on for a ride.
And when I felt thay might get mad,
they've only beamed with pride.
I've seen there children yank and pull,
with nary a reaction.
Yet media's not interested,
unless they've put someone in traction.
When other dog's have made the news,
this breed's name they affix.
But when this brave dog saves the day,
they call him "boxer mix".
They love to snuggle up real close,
to give lots of loves and kisses,
Yet they suffer more than any,
from unfair prejudices.
Their tails wag hard and hips twist, too,
more so than other mutts.
So those of us who know the breed,
we call them "wiggle butts".
What animal do I speak of,
Whose love is so unique?
If you've truly known one,
you know of whom I speak.
There is no creature on this Earth
who will ever make you merrier.
The animal I do speak of,
it's the American Pit Bull Terrier.
ROCK ON PITS!!! in my state, any pit bull puppies born in shelters or in vets are automatically euthanized...this is DISGUSTING. punish the deed not the breed, loyalty is definitely not a crime.
Pittbulls are the most loving type of dogs ever. They are what you raise them to be just like a child, if you teach a child bad habits then you can expect the child to be bad and do bad things. The same goes for pittbulls. If you teach any other breed to fight they will do the same things as a pittbull does if taught to fight. Please punish the owner and not the breed
so many of the dogs classified as pitbulls upon site turn out to be golden retrievers or laboradors. banning one breed is ridiculous because the people who want a viscious dog will still train one of a different breed.
I support this petition because pitbulls are just the as any other dog. People need to realize that dogs are like little kids, they have feelings also. Pitbulls are not aggresive dogs unless you raise them to be that way. I support this 100%, because I love all animals and I believe no animal should suffer in any way.
I definately agree. Pit bulls only act as they are raised just like any other dog. If there is any difference at all its that if they do attack they dont usually attack and walk away. but once again its how they were trained... .which unfortunately isnt great because of their reputation.
I support this petition 100%!!!! There is no reason to ban a dog breed based off of purely their breed. Not everyone who owns an american pitbull terrier is going to/has/ever will have a problem with it biting a single thing other than their couch, favorite pair of shoes, or the seats of their patio swing. My wife and I are having a baby this weekend, and we got our pitbull 6 months ago. She has been great. We have raised her to be loyal and very gentle with babies. We actually let her and my friends child play on the floor when they come over, and she is very gentle, even when his little boy pulls her ears and tail, hits her with toys, and the worst thing she has done is walk away from the child. Obviously if our pitbulls can't be with us at home, we need to address this with out congress men/women, and base our voting off of the things that hit even closer to home. Consider this the next time you are at the polls.
I am one of the many who own and loves my American Red nose Pit Bulls I believe i have the right to own my dogs as i please, they are just like any of your dogs. They are who they are by how you raise them.
lawmakers are profiling this entire breed based on isolated events. These dogs are not innately violent and aggressive. They are highly intelligent and WILL learn WHATEVER they are taught. Irrisponsible ownership is the real crime here.
this bill is truly asinine. Every dog has the capacity to bite. I've owned toy poodles that were more aggressive than my pits. Irrisponsible ownership is the root of the problems seen with this breed. Just like humans, dogs learn what they live. This anti-pit bull mindset is being perpetuated by people's blind and ignorant fear resulting from highly publicised ISOLATED events. Lawmakers need to thoroughly educate themselves on this breed before they go trying to make drastic laws against them.

My Pitbulls have been raised with my kids, age 5 and 8 and have never hurt them in any way. Punish the people who are not responsible dog owners, not the breed!!! Why do you law makers always want blame everything but the person responsible for the crime. I support this pettion because the pitbull ban is wrong and stupid and these dogs are living creatures. Just becasue of a few attacks doesn't make the whole breed bad. If this dog is trained properely it can be a loving and caring companion!! Banning the breed is like dicramation. I think the dogs that attacked should be put down and there owners should not be able to own a dog ever again. Because of these incinsiderit people they are banning the whole breed.
