This is crazy. What about banning the irresponsible owners of this breed. The discrimination against a cetain breed isnt helping anybody except the people who are using them for the wrong reasons anyway. All that will happen is the same people who are fighting these dogs will continue to do so, and the people who actually are responsible will be the ones to really pay. I have a female APBT and she is the best dog ever. My dad didnt like pits at all before I got her. He said they were not allowed in or near our yard. I brought her home anyway! After being around her he now has no problem with her. The majority of the time if you have a pit that bites or whatever it going to be because of an irresponsible owner. PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!!
This is sad, people just don't understand the breed or choose not to understand. All DOGS can bite, pitbulls just so happen to fall into the wrong hands. The abusers are the ones that should be punished to the max!!My two pits have not ever been aggressive, they are very loving ,and loyal family members!! (They are my children)....
i don't own a pitbull,instead i have a chihuahua(lily).Everytime i let her lose to play she always runs to the neighbors house across the street to play with their pitbull.their pit has never shown any kind of aggression towards anyone nor any animal.i am even thinking of getting one for myself. i believe the breed has been misjudged just because of the media and bad owners who neglect them and train them to be aggressive.

This is a wonderful breed if you get to know the dogs....Go see some of the families that take good care of their dogs...you can see how loving they are. If you take ANY dog and chain it up in the backyard and feed it 1x a day it will not be friendly. BAD OWNERS CREATE BAD DOGS. Please take the time to visit some loving homes....come see mine as one.
I have to say after 10 years with this breed my best dog has come from new mexico,,,and passing a ban isnt going to do anything but push the idiots to another breed.

A ban will only unfairly punish law abiding citizens. People who abuse and train Pit Bulls to become killers are not law abiding citizens, and they will just ignore this ban.
Even if all Pit Bulls vanished, another breed of dog would become the replacement for these people who exploit animals and train them to be vicious. Drug dealers want dogs to protect their drugs and boost their image. It doesn't have to be the Pit Bull. In the past it was the German Shepherd, then the Doberman. Take away all Pit Bulls, and what breed will be next? Boxers? Bullmastiffs? A Pit Bull ban is putting a band aid on a much deeper problem. You need to address the people who are making these dogs mean, usually drug dealers and gang members. Make consequences MUCH worse for their bad deeds and animal cruelty. That is only fair, because it is their fault. A Pit Bull ban punishes ALL owners - wonderful, loving owners like myself. It punishes the friendly dogs who have never been aggressive in their lives, like my Pit Bull Terrier. Does this seem fair? You need to address the poverty and crime of the neighborhoods they come from. That is the source of the problem. Poverty, abuse, drugs, and gangs. A Pit Bull is a reflection of its owner. If you are a loving owner, like I am, you will have a well adjusted gentle, dog, as my Pit Bull Zoe is.

I live in ontario Canada and they already ban them in a couple citys and now they are trying to ban them in the whole provence witch is ludacris we need to stop this madness before it to late.
Im against it because breed haters dont have statistics backing there clam of the pitbull terrier being a loaded gun ,or ticking time bomb.my opinion is the breed is a relative reflection of its owner and is a very well temperd animal when cared for properly.
I have been in Law enforcement for ten years and Iam hardcore pit bull fan. I have 7 dogs. The problem is not the dog but stupid owners. In the dog world many think law enforcement is against them but this is one cop, who knows the truth about game breed dogs.
Anyone that has the power to ban a dog without performing unbiased research may soon find out that their voters do know how to research and the effects will be significant for those that choose to make stupid decisions like banning pit bulls.

There is no reason that Our breed should be banned or restricted. Do you even know the breed? Have you ever owned a pitbull or been introduced to one? Because if you have then this wouldn't be an issue. People are afraid of what they do not know. I have 3 children and 3 pitbulls. If i can trust my family with them then maybe you can go pet one, i bet you havent even done that. It makes me sick how people propose bans on dogs that they know nothing about.

I don't know where to start, if anyone with a problem with the breed would actually research the breed, they would realize that human agression was bred out of this breed, for the most part. Another thing, most of the "pitbull type" dog attacks that we read about are dogs that have no resemblance to a pitbull whatsoever. The problem is people that don't control their animals, pitbulls or any other breed, so the real answer is to come down harder on the owners of any breed, if there is an incident involving a dog. Pitbulls score at the top of all breeds in behavior testing, and they account for one of the least bite rates in the U.S. So, to reiterate my point, the breed is not a problem, it is poor ownership, which is a problem for all no matter what the breed. People need to look at the whole picture before jumping to conclusions.

Pit Bulldogs are wonderful pet and companions. They are like any other animal. The way you raise them is the way they will turn out just like all other pets. Punish the Deed, Not the Breed. It is not fair to punish a whole breed of dog because of a few irresponsible owners.
Any dog, just like a child, needs a loving home free of abuse and neglect. Banning a breed will not make this happen. Please look at irresponsible owners and the truelly sick "people" who train their dogs to fight or to attack people. Look at rescue organizations and the dogs they have rescued. Enduring horrific cruelty and brutal mutilations these dogs overcome, are rehabilitated, and can live in family homes. How many people, after enduring the same, could become whole and loving again like these dogs do? Do you ban cars because a drunk got behind the wheel and killed someone driving? Common sense is needed so badly in the storm of negative media hype.

Irresponsible owners and animal abusers are the REAL problem. The responsible owners will comply, but do you honestly think the irresponsible ones will? Ban the deed, not the breed!
What about banning Cocker spaniels then too? I have heard of many more people getting bit by them Vs. a Pit or a Rott. Its not the dog its the owner, yeah sure there are a handful of dogs that are just vicious, but then again there are people like that as well.
I have owned every kind of dog from Labs to Pits and I have to say that pits are by far the best dog that I have ever owned. I have a huge family with lots of knds and I am amazed at how great these dogs are with them. I can believe that anyone would wnat to ban this breed. I ask that before you act on something this big that you educate yourself about the breed spend time with them and not just make a decision based on a few bad owners that have created bad dogs. To do this would be like banning black because they have a higher crime rate. That would just not be right.
You can not ban a breed of dog because of uneducated people. It is not the dogs fault on what they are taught or learn from those around them. They are like children. If they are abused they think it is ok to abuse. Most bite cases are of mixed breed origin and are not purebred pit bulls. Maybe instead of condeming a wonderfull breed maybe you should try to understand it and try to educate all owners on responsible pet ownership of all breeds.
How much more is the government going to try to take away from us? How much longer is the government going to act in an unconstitutional manner? Is it ever gonna end? I can only hope it all stops before they take our precious breed away from us. BAN BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION.

your efforts, while admirable in any other fight would be applauded. but what you and most people fail to understand is the the pitt is not a viscous animal, but one of the most loving breeds I have ever had the pleasure of owning. what you should be fighting for is finding and punishing THE PEOPLE who are taking this beautiful creatures and teaching them to fight. what you must understand is that the pitt wants to please its human owner, and will try to surpass your wish by 100%, if you ask it to climb a 5 ft fence it will climb 10 ft. and the same relates to any task you ask. please read up on and visit responsible pitt owners, before you continue in ignorance.
I can not believe that I fouhgt for a country in which can tell me what kind of dog I own. I think that this is the worst decision that could be made for not only this wonderfull breed but for our country. i think pitbulls are wonderful dogs. They are the most loyal breed of dog I have owned yet. The owners irresponsible owners need to be punished, not the dogs.
I don't think it is fair to punish the entire breed for a few mistakes made on the human's part. Who are they to say what breed of dog is right or not right for anyone? I myself own a few APBTs and they have never once shown any aggression toward any human being, or any animal for that matter. It is not right at all what these people are trying to do.
