I have had pits and bulldogs around me all my life. I have never had one of my dogs try to bite mame or kill anything. I have had more poodles ****zus ect. bite me chase me than any other dog. The wrap that these fine animals receive is unjustified in alot of cases.
The banning of this breed is ridiculous! The owner of the animals should be held responsible. Dogs should be respected when it comes to their space and territory . For those people who were bit for taunting or invading the animals area i say they deserved it. People are the cruel ones not the animals.
I think this is a travesty to try to ban such a great and beautiful breed of dog.I am form FLA,and I myself own a pitbull as well as my friends bwetween us we have about 26 dogs. They are all good dogs that do not attack people and can care less about bitting humans.I think that it is a fabrication of the truth when you here these special reports on T.V. speeking about how dangerous Pitbulls are to people. That is so far from the truth. The real danger are those who breed and raise their dogs to bite and attack people.Keep in mind they only do what they know best.My dogs have never been people eaters and as long as I am around and raising them they won't be.
It saddens me to think the APBT might not be allowed to be bred in NM. It disturbs me to think Sen. Wilson-Beffort wants to take away my right to own the dog breed of my choice. I like having that right. I own three APBT and I believe a well-raised APBT is the most loyal and loving dog in the world. The APBT are intelligent, and most enjoy training, if it is done properly. You will often hear a APBT's owner tell you that after owning one, they will never own any other breed. The word "training" is very important when it comes to the APBT or any breed for that matter. Instead of banning the breed maybe it should encouraged or enforced that owners train their dogs. This might eliminate some of the irresponsible owners. Those who abuse or are irresponsible dog owners should be banned from owning any more dogs. It is unfair to punish APBT breed or the responsible owner of this breed. The APBT is a wonderful dog that has developed a bad reputation because of irresponsible owners and bad press. Don't ban this breed, help this breed!
Every American should have the right to own any breed of dog they choose! Our government should not control what breed of dog we can and cannot own. It's obvious that the Senator has been misinformed and that she is uneducated when it comes to the American Pitbull Terrier. Her proposed bill regarding the APBT would be very unfair and extremely harsh to the breed and the many people who are responsible owners of this breed. This bill is absolute madness. The APBT is NOT the problem. Irresponsible and abusive owners are the real problem. Is the Senator also prepared to make criminals out of law-abiding citizens only because she is incapable of finding creative ways to address the real problem? The current proposed bill is the equivalent of using a hammer to kill a fly. The Senator needs to educated herself more and address the real problem.
I HAVE HAD TWO OF THEM AND THEY ARE NOT TERRIBLE DOGS!! BOTH OF THEM STAYED IN THE HOUSE WHERE I LIVED AND THERE IS NO WAY PEOPLE CAN RUN AROUND AND SAY PIT BULLS ARE BAD!!!! ITS NOT THE DOG IT IS THE OWNER AND HOW THEY WERE RAISED!!!!!!AND IF YOU BAN PIT BULLS YOU SHOULD BAN ALL DOGS THAT ARE PROTECTIVE SO THA WOULD MEAN BAN ALL DOGS ON THE PLANET!! OR MAYBE THEY SHOULD GET RID OF THE SENATOR OR SHOULD WE SAY "BAN HER"
No breed of dog is born to be vicious. Not even the Pitbull! The problem exists not within the breed of dog, but rather within the owners that fail to control, supervise, maintain and properly train the breed of dog they choose to keep. ANY dog, regardless of breed, is only as dangerous as his/her owner allows it to be. Don't punish the responsible Pitbull owners or the Pitbull breed for the few idiots that are out there. I love my Pitbull! Don't take away my right to own this wonderful breed of dog!
I am a responsible owner of a Pitbull. This great breed has been picked on enough! Pitbulls need our help not our hate. Educate yourself about this breed before you try to take away our right to own a Pitbull! The breed is NOT the problem. Irresponsible owners are!
I am the proud owner of an American Pitbull Terrier. She is a wonderful dog. I can't imagine having my right to own this breed prohibited. A ban such as this would be unconstitutional! Please, take the time to really enlighten yourself about this breed. It's been said before and it is so true...It's not the breed that needs to be punished...it's the irresponsible owners that should be punished. Don't take away my right to be responsible dog owner of this wonderful breed.
This ban infringes on our personal freedoms as Americans!Theres no reason to ban pitbulls, how about ban the irrespossible pitbull owners.I have owned pitbulls most of my life and have never had one bite anybody, my chihuahuas are more likey to bite than my pits! Please dont punish all of us responsible dog owners!Maybe we should have stiff punishment for the owners of the dogs that bite people not the rest of us.Remember we live in The United States of America, land of the free!
I agree with kiim self, and we need a new senator. Don't blame the dogs, its the owners that raise them mean. I myself have two pitbulls, and they are great dogs. This is america right? Freedom right?
As someone who will be moving to NM in the next few months, I *will* bring my pitbulls. Their behavior is exemplary and I will be sure to take action to show that these dogs are one of the best breeds overall.
it saddens me to think that poeple will be so stupid as to try and put a ban on innocent animals. IT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE DOG! vicious animals are the result of their environment.. if anything there should be tighter controls as to how people treat animals and how animals are living. they should also pay closer attention to pitbull fighting!!!! not putting a ban on innocent dogs!
Sen.Sue Wilson Beffort u need to do some research and u would find out its not the dogs its the owners and people like u that look at these dogs a certain way and u dont even know how much of a companion these are,and how much these dogs mean to all of us like your little chiuaha, lab,or cocker spaniel which are the top 3 breeds to bite come on do some reaserch, better inforce your animal laws on people breaking the law with there dogs or mistreating them we need these dogs alot more than they need us because so many ignorant people like u would find out this breed is more lovable than any other dog unless ignorant people try to inbreed witch causes a viscious litter every time or a crazy litter of pups, just inforce your laws better and make new ones remeber.WE NEED THESE DOGS
If we allow this bill to ban our beloved pit bulls where will these people stop?! They wont! Your state and your dog could be next. Ask everyone you know to sign this petition and tell everyone they know and so on.
If this bill passes we are causing our animals to become extinct. Why do we think they will stop @ banning only pit bulls? Where will they stop. Before we know it we all our breeds of dogs will be banned. Send this petition to all of your friends/family. Encourage others to sign. This is not only about pit bulls it is about our FREEDOM to choose. It will open the door to other bans and on and on. It will never stop.
I believe that no dog should be banned. Any dog at any time could bite due to whatever situation or circumstances. They could be cornered, scared or protecting their owners. It doesnt matter if it is a Pit Bull or Poodle Has any one ever done their homework? When there is a dog bite if it is a mixed breed that dog bite is usually classified under the pit bull. People need to educate themselves. Pit bulls are not the only breed that have bitten people. If people do their homework they will find out that chows, rottwielers, dalmations and even LABRADORS the so called "family dog." We cannot say this enough...There are no bad dogs just bad owners and irresponsible breeders. Be responsible for your own dogs. I have been a pitbull owner for over 7 years and I believe pit bulls are one of the most intellegent, loyal and overall best dogs.
This senator is
showing just how ignorant people whom are not educated about our loyal breed really are. This is the type of person that believes all the myths and anything she is told. She must have never owned a pit bull. We cannot just ban one breed of dogs because of irresponsible owners. If that were the case we would have to ban all breeds causing us to lose our best friends and companions. If this bill passes it will only be the beginning for other states to follow. We are losing our rights, the reason we live in the United States is so we have the FREEDOM to choose not to have our decions and lives chosen for us. Sign this petetion and send it to everyone you know to sign it. God Bless!
a dog responds to a command, a dog reacts from the way they are brought up, bring them up right there alright, BAN THE CARELESS IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS AND LET A TRULEY MAGNIFICANT BREED SHINE THROUGH, i couldn't imagine life without my pitty's, a love so loyal is hard to find, there my life, heart ,soul. treat them fairly.
Banning pit bulls is not the solution to the problem you are trying to solve!! Crack down on those people doing illegal things with their dogs not the dogs! There is no such things as a bad dog, there are bad owners!
Lately I have been very sadden by they way people treat my dogs. I love them more than life. They are my heart, my best friends. They play with my little girl as if she were a goddess and lay with her at night to keep the bad dreams away. Why is it so hard for some people to understand that they are full of love and kindness? They were the first dogs to stand by our soldiers, does that not mean anything to people? I will never understand why anyone can justify banning a breed for something "PEOPLE" have made them do. Where is the Justice in this? If it is not my dog out there doing what people make them do, IT WILL BE YOURS. Banning them will not end this viscous sick cycle. They are not born viscous or evil but they put into a lifestyle were they have no chose but to love, honor, and obey their owner.
A dog is a dog , if you ban one it is wrong not to ban them all,now I admit that they fall into the hands of humans that are not responsible owners but come on expecting a dog not to be a dog,is like expecting a human to be inhuman"you see" how something is wrong with this picture keep. I wonder what would happen if the dogs became the handlers of humans and submit to us,some of the abuse they endure from incompotent owners being a dog in all,you would probably want to take a bite out of something, responsible dogs need responsible owners, its time to quit blaming the dogs and all the pets for being a product of what they know,we make them pets and we should deal with them like pets and teach them how to be pets, who really let the dogs out?
Banning the breed will not fix the problem. In federal jails, most of the inmates are hispanic and Afican American, does this mean all of us are bad? Punish the breed not the deed
Don't let a couple bad apples spoil the whole barrel. There are thousands of responsible pit bull owners who own dogs that are wonderful, tame, and adorable; and these responsible pit bull owners FAR OUTNUMBER the few idiot criminals who abuse their dogs. Banning all pit bulls is simultaneously punishing the innocent dog owners and their pit bulls that are raised as family pets. Someone else's dog does not represent my dog, nor does a criminal represent me. Common sense prevails...
Dogs don't know any better, but the criminals who abuse, fight, and mistreat pit bulls DO! Ban these criminal dog-OWNERS, NOT the breed! Look at a young pit bull puppy, you will see one of the most adorable, sweetest, and innocent animals that God ever created. I own 3 pit bulls, and they love people, strangers, kids, and my cats. They treat everyone they meet as their best friend. What "crime" have my dogs commited that they should be banned? If you're going to ban pit bulls, then don't stop there. You might as well ban rottweilers, german shepherds, dobermans, bull mastiffs, great danes, akitas, shar peis, chow-chows, and cocker spaniels, because they've all been reported to attack people more than pit bulls!
It is a proven fact that statistically pit bulls do not bite people more so than any other breed of dog, as a matter of fact some other breeds statistically bite more often. Hey we are murdering each other all over the world, maybe we should ban human beings as well.
I think Pit Bulls are the greatest breed of dog in the world. I have a 13 yr. old female that I purchased in Las Cruces, NM. I hope everything works out for us Pit Bull owners.
I live in Silver City, NM. I have raised pitbulls for years. People are just very uneducated about the wonderful & loyal breed. There are thousands of APBT in NM and for a few of the irresponsible OWNERS the breed gets punished. There are known breeds thant dont like children or are one owner dogs like the:
Akita,Cocker Spanial, German Shepard why are they not beeing punished. My son got bitten by a German Shepard this summer did they do anything about it, hell no. But if my APBT bit someone it would make the front pages. Fair? I thinh not. PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED
GReat dogs I have two nices dogs a person can own...abuse children and they will also be violent show your dogs kindness and a good loving home and they will do the same...NOT THE DOGs fault....
Dont place the ban a pitbull is not about the breed its about the owner ban certain felony people. InfernoBlueKennels.com
Matt
They are one of the less bite aggressive dogs they are 4th from the bottom on a study of the dogs most likely to attack and bite humans. Cockerspaniels and labradors are more likely to bite people put a ban on them.
Regulate who can and can't own pitbulls. I.E. convicted drug dealer shouldn't. IE average joe with no criminal record should. Don't punish everyone for a fews indiscretions
I understand your concern Senator but shouldnt you learn a little more of the actual facts (not just from the media's side) before you ban an animal. A few bad owners are ruining it for the majority good owners which doesnt seem fair. Instead of banning the breed wouldn't it be more fair to weed out the cruel owners who raise them this way. Most who have met my pitbull remark on her affection for people and kids.
You politicians have absolutely no right in decided what type of a dog an American citizen wants but thanks to you type of people who think it is there place to infringe there views into my choices; all that is doing is getting up one step closer to resembling Nazi Germany
This lady has probably never owned a pit bull in her life. All dogs are like kids, they learn from their owners. There are children taking guns and knives to school and hurting or killing other students. We all know that the vast majority of those cases are a direct result of how they were raised. Most definitely we should go after those who own any breed of dog that attacks a human being. They should be punished to the full extent of the law. Those of us who love this breed and work hard to change the image that the public has of the American Pit Bull Terrier should not be punished for the minority of irresponsible owners. We should also not be punished by those who claim to know everything about this breed based upon a newscast. Do not claim to be an expert if you have not studied and researched the history of this breed and above all if you have not owned one of these great animals who bring joy to not just adults, but children all over America.
