MEMO

TO: HIS EXCELLENCY JACQUES EDOUARD ALEXIS, PRIME MINISTER OF HAITI

FROM: HUMAN RIGHTS ACCOMPANIMENT IN HAITI- HURAH, INC.
MR. TOM LUCE, PRESIDENT

RE: PURSUIT OF JUSTICE FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE HAITIANS
CLASS ACTION SUIT SUPPORTED BY AUMOHD (Association of University Grads Motivated for Haiti With Rights),
ATTY. EVEL FANFAN, PRESIDENT) GRAND RAVINE, SIMON PELE, CITÉ SOLEIL, Dept of the NORTH, Central Plateau

DATE: MARCH 5, 2008

We the undersigned wish to congratulate you, Mr. Prime Minister, for having made the courageous and substantive decision to involve your administration in the pursuit of justice for the hundreds of poor, innocent victims of violence in several regions of the country in the course of the years 2003-2005 who have organized themselves with the help of AUMOHD.

In spite of the immense responsibilities which weigh on the shoulders of the government you have been able to recognize, thanks to the diligence of AUMOHD volunteers and their several Community Human Rights Councils (CHRC), the abuse inflicted on men, women, and children without any means who cry out to the heavens for justice, reparation, reconciliation and a lasting peace in Haiti.

Thanks to you, to the Minister of Justice and the Judiciary Administrators, to the head of the Haitian National Police, Mr. Mario Andresol, and, in the end, to the President of the Republic, for having exercised that basic power of a democratic people toward those who possess nothing that could motivate respect for the human person except their own sublime humanity itself.

We have learned with pleasure that the government has begun to pursue justice in several vulnerable places in the mother land and therefore we promise to support you until the end.

Please accept, Mr. Prime Minister, our most respectful sentiments and be assured of our desire to help you.
