I seriously have to question the abilities of FOX management for cancelling this show. It's FOX's mis-managment of the show that caused the poor ratings. They put the show in most undesireable time slot on TV...up against CSI and The Apprentice. Did FOX actually think this show would stand a chance against these shows and their enormous fan bases? Every show they have put in that slot has been canceled due to bad ratings, what made them think it would be any different for Point Pleasant? It's almost as if FOX set the show up to fail.
The first episode I saw was the third and I was hooked. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. This is an excellent show and FOX is making a big mistake by cancelling it. I have a handful of shows that I never miss for any reason and Point Pleasant was one of them.
FOX is making a major mistake by cancelling the show. They have a disturbing trend of cancelling new shows before they have had a "real" chance to succeed. They are making a bad name for themselvesby doing this and driving away viewers who are reluctant to watch a new for fear that FOX will pull the plug on it. The cancelling of Point Pleasant is another example of mis-management of good shows. FOX could have at least tried moving the show to a better time slot. FOX also could have tried promoting the show as well. It has become clear that FOX management has become out of touch with what thier viewers want. FOX is shooting itself in the foot and they don't realize it. Maybe FOX should cancel the people responsible for the bad decision making instead of the shows.
Oh joy...another show with excellent potential cancelled to make way for the cheap to make, mind numbing reality shows.
Unfortunately the world is filled with too may idiots who watch this reality crap, and can't be bothered to rouse their few remaining brain cells to make sense of any show which they actually have to think about!

I'm another viewer from the UK and I have got to say I'm so sick of my favourite shows being cancelled. Looks like there might not be another whole series of tru calling. They should at least let us know what happens in the end of point pleasant if anything. You should think about scrapping the crap on tv like all those reality shows. Let us finish this series!!!
I'm from the UK and have been really looking forward to the next episode all week! It is soooo frustrating to get into a new series and have it suddenly disappear with no reason why or whether it will reappear.
Fox should at least let their new series run for a season before axing them, to provide some sort of closure for the fans who do watch it.

I hate it when you start these good shows, then turn around and cancel them. I heard that you are only going to air the final 6 episodes of Tru Calling also, then scrap it. What about cancelling The Simple Life? These shows are far better than this show. Why not put Tru Calling and Point Pleasant on Back to Back on Mondays, when there is nothing else on?

Bring back Point Pleasant, it is one of the few watchable shows on TV these days. I am going to stop watching Fox if they keep pulling shows without giving them a chance.
I couldn't agree more - I have been hooked on Point Pleasant from the first episode and I am totally furious this has now been cancelled.
I can't understand why something so obviously brilliantly executed, original and exciting wouldn't be given a chance to shine.
I will definitely think twice before watching any new Fox shows in the future, because it now seems to be becoming a pattern that as soon as something really good comes on air they wait until pretty much the most annoying possible moment and then cancel it.
I think its a real shame that there are no longer people around with the foresight to invest in good shows, and give them time to blossom in return for a loyal, long-term following. I look forward to the day that that short-sighted mentality causes Fox to fall on its face.
Possibly Fox aren't interested in people like me, but I will at least point out that if it's money they're after, I am a professional with a large expendable income, a fair chunk of which would previously have been going Fox's way. I know for a fact that there are a lot of p*ssed off people like me who will be spending their money elsewhere in future.

I am a Point Pleasant fan from the UK. I am sick and tired of Fox cancelling all the good shows half way through when we are overloaded with reality TV tripe like American Idol several days a week.
The reality TV shows cost hardly anything to make and they bring in a lot of revenue from all the phone voting, so I can see why they keep them, but why not put that money into supporting QUALITY DRAMA LIKE POINT PLEASANT???!!!
If they are not going to see a show through to the end I would rather they didn't support them in the first place. They have now done this to 2 great shows that I loved (Firefly, being the other). Do they not understand how frustrating it is to get really into a story, grow to love the characters and then all of a sudden find out that 'by the way, that was the end'! Have they not heard of the need for closure?

There are very few shows anymore that I actually look forward to every week...Point Pleasant was one of them. Please bring the show back...just when I was completely hooked, it is yanked...soooo wrong.
I really enjoyed this show. It was different! At first I wasn't for it...I really wanted Tru Calling back...but I watched Point Pleasant and I really liked it. I'm sure they could find a way to have them both on the air. If anything you'd think they'd at least have the decincy to run the remaining shows. Damn that Idol screw up!! At least that would have been one more episode I could have seen. It was just getting good!!

This is why Fox is losing all their patronage- they start terrific shows and hook their audience, then pull the plug mid-season. Fox has to be the most notorious channel for doing this over and over again
How can you just end a show in the middle of the season? Twice now, with Wonder Falls being taken off in the middle of the season. Both shows were engaging, original, and though provoking. Please do not pander any further to society's lowest denominator.

Whoever's dumb idea it was to cancel Point Pleasant needs firing. Seriously. Its been a slow starter, but its picking up speed, and followers. And thats just what i see in the UK.
You may think the number of people signing this petition does not qualify re-enstating the show, but try to remember this has been set up by one or two people - WITHOUT the ability to reach mass audiences. If a handful of people can reach this many people willing to put time and effort into saving the show, just think how many people across the world are actually watching/missing it that have no idea this petition is even going on...

I am lovign this show. I just saw the episodes my friend taped. it started off real slow but man the last three shows were off the chain. What happened to the priest? Point Pleasant is an exciting show with a great plot. My 3 favorite shows on fox were That 70's Show arrested Development and Point Pleasant. Plus Arrested development had real low ratings and still could get canceled but guess what it won a lot of emmys including best show. So ratings dotn mean a thing. Please put Point Pleansant back on. Its jsut as good as whatever else is on out there. You cant hold on to American Idol forever unless you make it animated like the simpsons. i am out. Peace

hey cracker barrel and pernt pleasant, the show is better then North Shore and Tru Calling in the ratings and yet they are not offically canceled. And Just because PP was on after American Idol the first week doesent mean it will be successful. You have to remember CSI is on CBS and there are other ratings eaters on that day and time that PP airs. Plus Thursday is the worst day to have a show. Monday and Tuesday have junk on so why couldnt it be on there? And also liek arroyo said: if you dont like watching the show then why are you signing the petition? And yeah it seems like some of these are padded but a signature is a signature and it looks like we will get to our goal.So take that and thanks for the help you guys despite you hating on the show! So do the math: 1,500 tv's for 1,500 kids, compared to 1 TV for 1,500 kids. Gee I wonder what would get more ratings? Point Pleasant was advertised as much as any show before it came on the air,it was given the best possible time slot,following american idol,for its premier...then the next day,they had less than half the amount of viewers as the previous day.Yes 23 hours later the show lost 6 million viewers,and the ratings went downhill from there.The reason you didnt see commercials for it is because FOX was losing too much money airing PP commercials when no one was watching it.The money was better spent on advertising.This show failed and failed miserably.Dont blame the time slot, stars without makeup more than doubles its ratings in its place one week....face it,the show wasnt popular enough and if it was there wouldnt be a petition that is also failing despite being widely advertised and obviously padded numbers as far as signatures go
Hey guys we watch this show in groups as well. Not as much as 1,500 but still we always watch in a large bunch. Its hard to understand from Fox's point of view as to why you would cancel this show especially when it was hardly aired. The O.C. when it first came out as well as 24 were on for like 8 to 10 weeks in a row before they took a break. When Point Pleasant was shown it was shown the most weeks in a row of 2. Then you took it off for 4 weeks and then showed it for 2 weeks and then off again for I believe 3 weeks and then showed the last episode after the best episode. Its hard to have a show become great when its never on TV. Thats TV 101. If Seinfeld or 24 were advertised as bad as Point Pleasant was and put up agianst all the great and proven shows, well then they would be given the ax as well. Basically this show has soemthing and well you know it, its just for some reason you set out to sabatoge it. It's a shame because you show more love to that stick show then to a solid show and really hurt your loyal fans. That stick show is getting laughs, not laughing with, but at. Its such a bad show. It makes Method & Red look like Frasier. So please get some sence and bring back a classy show Point Pleasant and can the garbage.
Donald,every show on tv can make a claim like that if they wanted and most shows are watched in groups,how do you think sporting events do when they are shown at bars? do you think some ratings system company goes to each bar and counts the people? I work at a bar and someone the 2nd week point pleasant was on tried to turn the show on and the bar went nuts,throwing stuff at the screen,yelling at the bartender! we live in point pleasant or a surrounding town and no one wanted to watch it.....needless to say it never made it on a tv set in that bar again
I am the head of my orphrange inge, and I have to say that when Point Pleasant was on it was the only show that all of the kids would watch. Now you have to understand that its not like 5 or 10 kids. Its around 1,500, and we would showcase it in the gym on a big screen. Now I dont understand your ratings system but maybe just maybe the reason why the ratings are low is because people watch this show in groups instead of 1 person for 1 tv. Plus I think people watch this show in groups because its too scary to watch alone. This show is such a great group gathering as well as an ice breaker. Take it from someone who knows about groups of people lol. Please take a second look at this show and put it on a date and time where it can get even more ratings. If you put it up against some of those reality shows on say a Monday or put it on a Friday, I think it will do real well. Something to think about.
Point Pleasant is a classic. People years from now will watch this show and get chills up their spine. I do just as I am typing this. Please give this show the opportunity it deserves.
