28 Mar 2006 - 23:18    Bill : I support this petition. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen cops doing double the speed limit without lights or sirens on.
30 Mar 2006 - 23:19    Keith : Most definitely drive too fast. I support this petition.
31 Mar 2006 - 7:02    Gerry : I support this petition.
31 Mar 2006 - 7:05    Jack : I support this petition. The same cop that pulls you over for speeding was the one that was riding your bumper and floored it when you moved out of his way.
31 Mar 2006 - 7:06    Miller : It's about time some of them got a ticket for a change.
31 Mar 2006 - 20:42    Ashton : I support this petition.
31 Mar 2006 - 20:45    Derek : I support this petition.
4 Apr 2006 - 8:02    Sara : Cops: obey the law.
4 Apr 2006 - 18:53    David Oliver : Personally, I think cops could find a much better use for their time in this day and age than setting speed-traps for people who are trying to get back and forth to work. For the most part, it's nothng more than legalized HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Tom Tancredo For President www.petitionspot.com/peti tions/tancredo
5 Apr 2006 - 10:19    Angelo : People must consider why police exceed the speed limit. In many cases, when responding to a crime in progress, emergency equipment would alert the criminal to the approaching police. Also, many police department policies and even state traffic laws exclude police vehicles from simple traffic laws such as speed limits when responding for calls for service, emergency or not. Also, some police department policies do not allow the use of emergency equipment unless they are specifically instructed to under certain circumstances. An officer may need to back up another officer on a traffic stop but the use of emergency equipment may not be justified. The first priority is officer safety, therefore the backup officer will respond as quickly as possible. It is not always what is seems on the surface. Don't be so quick to think that police just drive fast because they can get a way with it. Police are generally very busy and have little time to think about what they want to do. They are performing a service to the community, and sometimes that may require driving faster than everyone else.
5 Apr 2006 - 10:23    mike : Aren't police trained to drive fast and control their vehicle in all kinds of conditions. The average drivers are not and they are the ones that cause the accidents, right?
8 Apr 2006 - 1:26    Joe : To Mike and Angelo: Whether the police actually cause accidents is irrelevant. The point still stands. This petition refers to when they are not responding to a call and they are speeding -- it happens all the time, but of course you will never believe it. Your point that some departments don't allow use of emergency lights is exactly what I want to change.
8 Apr 2006 - 1:32    Joe : Mike: It doesn't matter how good they are at driving. They can still make a mistake, or cause someone else to get in an accident. They should only speed when they are responding to a call. It is a fact the some, not all, disobey the speed limit to quite an extent. There is an easy and fair way to curtail this abuse.
8 Apr 2006 - 1:34    Johnny K. : I support this petition. I think the dissenters are mistaking this for an anti-cop petition, but it's not at all.
8 Apr 2006 - 1:40    Shadow Dweller : WTF!!! are u people taking about! cops need to speed if there responding to a call *******!!! So JUST SHUT THE **** UP!!!
8 Apr 2006 - 6:27    Ronny : I support this petition. Shadow, try reading it next time.
22 Apr 2006 - 7:15    Teri : I support this petition.
12 Nov 2006 - 1:54    chris : I support this petition as well as law enforcement officers. but the fact still stands, as a gwinnett police officers nearly striking me by going around my vehicle as I was merging into the left turning lane. No lights , No siren. Officer then proceeded to accelerate over 90 mph in a residential 45mph zone without any lights or siren. If he is responding to back an officer up or a call, he may kill those he has sworn to protect. You can respond in stealth by using emergency lights without sirens. I think they need to reveiw their department SOP regarding to responding to calls. Another roswell police officer shot past at the speed of 80-90mph early in the morning, 4 miles down the road his cruiser was at Quicktrip and he was at the counter drinking coffee. I assume he was responding to a coffee theft, yeah? But, you cannot lump every police officer with the ones that takes advantage of their authority. I was please to over hear a forsyth county sgt instructing a deputy to slow down on Hwy 400 after the deputy informed the SGT he was not responding to a call.
15 Nov 2006 - 12:14    Gemma : Police are enforcers of the law; they should not be above it. If exceptions are made for police, then it sends drivers the message that the laws are merely there to control drivers and are not there for safety.. because obviouly police have other drivers' safety in mind.. yeah right.. And to police being specially trained.. even if I were to take a driving course in driving at high speeds safely, I would still get pulled over for a ticket, despite showing them my certificate proving I am a safe driver in all conditions...
16 Nov 2006 - 10:43    Ray Randall : Police officers should obey the very laws they enforce. I have on several occasions followed police officers in excess of 100mph going to lunch. Police officers abuse their authority more often than not. They are supposed to set an example. I personally despise police officers. They believe they are somehow superior and above the law. Police officers get 2 hours worth of driving training...I myself have an SCCA license...does this mean I can speed? Absolutely not....and I have been more thoroughly trained than police to drive a vehicle at high speeds.
16 Nov 2006 - 10:46    Jason Billings : ****ing pigs....think they can get away with anything.
16 Nov 2006 - 22:54    Kate : Shadow Dweller: I'm going to guess that you are a cop. You must be pretty upset that someone wants to crack down on your joy riding. By the way watch the language!
18 Nov 2006 - 0:57    Johnny D : It use to be that cops always drove the speed limit. That was part of what earned our respect. Now, they are always speeding but what's worse it when they are off duty they drive even worse. Everyone's heard the threat that if we don't let them speed when they want to they won't speed when you call them in an emergence. Fact is, they should be held to high standards which is not only how it should be but would also regain a little of the respect they have lost.
21 Nov 2006 - 22:57    Aaron E. : Stop the ABUSE!
14 Dec 2006 - 1:05    Filthwatch : Unfortunately those corrupt filthy pigs will ALWAYS get away with it...just like the recent offence committed by a pig doing over 150 mph....Testing his car. I HATE THESE COWARDS! May they ALL rot in hell. Best thing to do is get car-cams and record these speeding pigs. Pigs like to lie when it suits them so you can use this evidence against them!!! Do not bother with the IPCC as they will simply pass it on to the DPS who are filth and are only interested in looking after their own. The DPS will fob you off with some crap. Best thing to do is post those speeding pigs on the internet and if you can, Name and shame those pigs. Find out their home addresses and post them too.
14 Dec 2006 - 1:14    Metropolitan Police UK : Police are a bunch of cowards. They would not dare challenging individuals on a gypsy camp. They are such cowards as they can't work alone. They suddenly become courageous when with their mates. How many officers would dare raid a property on their own? ****ing cowards! The Police often speed...They know they won't get nicked. 76535473 drivers caught speeding!!! Zero robbers caught. The filth are too lazy to catch real criminals...They need Crimewatch, Crimestoppers, etc to catch anyone.
14 Dec 2006 - 1:21    FilthyPigs UK : M E T R O P O L I T A N P O L I C E CAN YOU TRUST THE POLICE, OR ARE THEY ALL A BUNCH OF FILTHY, RACIST, CORRUPT COWARDS????? M E T R O P O L I T A N P O L I C E not working together for a safer London
15 Feb 2007 - 9:59    Margel (TN) : It's bizarre... and sad... The police officer should should always be an example. Otherwise it's not going to work, they will not earn respect.
22 Feb 2007 - 2:45    Carter C. : Why not choose a city and obtain video evidence? Just strap a camcorder inside your car and record your limit along with the police speeding past you. There must also be a wealth of video evidence from city cameras of reckless driving by police.
18 Apr 2007 - 16:52    Chauncey :

30 Jun 2007 - 22:25    Martin Luther King : I have a dream. A dream that shows how ridiculous this petition is.
1 Jul 2007 - 14:17    Jim Snyder :
10 Jul 2007 - 23:43    motorist : I signing this but it will have little effect because other police aren't going to ticket other police. It a brotherhood and they feel they are above the law. It just makes me so sick.
25 Jul 2007 - 13:40    Richard : followed a speeding speed camera van 2 years ago, complained and then we were intimidated by police officers (including a senior one) turning up on our doorstep into dropping the complaint. Throughout, we were given conflicting information (the van isn't one of ours/ it is but the driver can't be located/the matter will be dealt with internally and your continued involvement will cause you more hassle)I now have utter comtempt for this bunch of law-breaking bully boys
21 Aug 2007 - 13:03    mark hill : cops are public servants, not above the law
7 Sep 2007 - 19:45    tony : I just had a SC State Trooper speed by me the other day and he wasn't even wearing his uniform.
