I wholeheartedly support this petition. When I was a student at Eastern, I relied on AATA to be able to get to work and back. Without it, my employment opportunities would have been very diminished. To eliminate the transportation system from Ypsilanti would be more detrimental than paying AATA to keep it there.
I support this petition. The busses cut down on car traffic to AA and allow people to live in affordable housing (in Ypsi) while still being accessible to AA.
I support this petition. I frequently use AATA and live on the outskirts of Ann Arbor, which would impact me if the services were cut. More importantly, those that use the bus will be greatly effected and our economy will continue to suffer without this service.
I support this petition. I am an Indpls, In resident and they too hav tried to cut routes with lg cry out from the public, attend public hearings and let your voice be heard. It works. It will not only affect the ridership but the employees that run the routes. Good luck
I support this petition. Many residents of Ypsi rely on the public transportation system to get to work, doctor appointments, etc. Eliminating the public transportation system will not help the sustainability of the city.
I support this petition. In addition to the dependence on AATA in Ypsilanti, the last thing anyone's ecological footprint needs is a policy to cut public transportation funding.
I don't use the Ypsi buses so I am signing this as an advocate for those who use this system. I hope that the policy makers will keep in mind the many people they would be negatively affecting if the bus service was discontinued.
Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor are closely linked cities, and should remain so. Cutting funding for the AATA lines that connect the two cities will hurt both cities.
The busline in Ypsilanti must be preserved - it cannot be considered an "extra" perk for residents. It is essential that Ypsi residents have AATA to get them to jobs, daycare, and other resources, in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Township. Without bus service, it will no longer attract much-needed residents to live in the area and will give consent for its own deterioration.
I support this petition. This is a move that won't affect the wealthy but hurts the poor. It will harm people who live in Ypsi b/c of low cost of living, don't have a car, and work in the job center of A2. (Ideally a way would be found to make the self-absorbed suburbs or Oakland County pay for the service.)
Many people depend on this AATA bus circuit, it's elimination would have far reaching consequences on both a personal level and on a traffic/parking level.
Speaking for low income students, this bus service cut would make it almost impossible to continue my and likely hundreds of other students, educations.
It is inconceiveable to me that the City could consider transit service non-essential. It is a necessity for many current residents, and an amenity in the eyes of prospective residents.
