I support this petition. How can we encourage people to work and raise a family in a community that will limit them to even get to their jobs? Sounds liek another obstical to success. KEEP THE AATA IN YPSILANTI!!
I support this petition. As a Realtor in Washtenaw County I know how important having city services is to maintain the value of homes and the integrity of the neighborhoods.
I support this petition. Many people rely on the bus to make their livelyhood and create brighter futures through attending community outreach programs and local colleges. Please do not cut off their only means of transportation.
I support this petition.I have children that rely on the bus for work. I am a Social Worker who work with mentally ill consumers that heavily rely on the bus to receive their medical and mental health services. They rely on the bus for their income and all of their well-being. This would be a terrible heartship to many. They will suffer tremendously without AATA.
I work with senior citizens and the buses and A-Ride make the difference between living in the community and having to go into a nursing home for many seniors without transportation. This is a major crisis for Ypsilanti.
I support this petition. This bus service allows students at EMU to commute to their jobs and homes in Ann Arbor. I also have several classmates that depend on this service! I use it to get into Ann Arbor without traffic and parking complications.
I support this petition. I use the service every business day to get from Ypsi to Ann Arbor. I work at the U of Michigan and depend on this community service. Please do not cut this service.
I support this petition.
Ypsilanti is a community with many working poor families and cutting the bus service would be detrimental to the well being of the people and families who depend on the bus service to get them around.
I support this petition. We are a one-car family. We have never had two cars in order to make ends meet and to save money. My husband takes the bus (both routes 4 and 5) to and from his work at the University of Michigan. Please do not take this service away. It is important that we stay a one-car family. I would imagine we are not alone in these sentiments.
I support this petition. Please, students, working poor, people getting to doctor apointments, etc., we use route 5 and others to make our lives happen as we contribute to our society's wellbeing.
Peace y'all.
I support this petition. I understand that Ypsilanti is having financial difficulties, but I strongly believe that cutting bus service will do more harm than good for the City in the long run; the lack of bus service will isolate both the current and future residents of Ypsilanti. I am sure the money for bus service can be found by making cuts to the area of the budget that will not affect its eco-conscious or neediest residents.
I totally support this petition. There is a large number of low income persons who RELY on this bus route to go to and from their place of employment. Without this mode of transportation, their base for income (their current jobs) would no longer be a possibility for them.) This is serious business.
There are also a lot of students who use this bus route to go to and from Eastern Michigan University to and from Ann Arbor.
If you need to cut costs, cut the service to places like Saline, that do not have the same volume of people going into and out from Ann Arbor.
I strongly urge you to keep the bus service between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor the way it currently is.
I support this petition. I just started riding the bus to get to and from school. One thing I never understood was why the bus goes to Saline and places like that. If any service should be cut it sould be the services to place not even close to town. We all benefit from the AATA one way or another.
I support this petition. In order to remain or grow as a viable community that can attract residents and businesses, we cannot reduce the very limited, basic infrastructure of our public transportation.
I support this petition. Not everyone is physically able to transport themselves. Not everyone is financially able to transport themselves. Reliable public transit is a necessity for many, not just a lifestyle choice.
I support this petition. Public transportation is a necessity, not a luxury, for many people. And for some people it can be a reason to stay in or move to Ypsilanti instead of living in a nearby city.
I support this petition. I realize that the city government has severe finacial problems, but cancelling bus service for hundreds of working people is not the answer. Public transportation and education are the necessary ingredients to a truly free society -cutting these essential public services is imprisoning those without means.
I support this petition completely. I depend on the Ann Arbor-Ypsianti busses to get to and from work...i can't believe that they are even considering down-sizing the little public transportation that exists in SE mich. It's a disgrace.
I support this petition. I think community services such as public buses are essential to secure the continued functioning of the community. While I understand that Ypsilanti is in hard times fiscally, I think that it will do more harm than good to the city and its surrounding communities to take away this crucial service.
I support this petition. Public transportation has environmental and economic benefits to all people. We have a teenage son who uses the bus system with his friends. They travel downtown and spend money in retail shops and will soon be using the bus system for employment opportunities. This is a necessary service in any area where two major universities are located and students rely on this form of transportation for their education.
While it's understandable that the City of Ypsilanti is going through major financial difficulties, we must come together as a larger community, not just the City of Ypsilanti, but other communities as well to find a solution to this growing problem. This same issue has occurred in many communities throughout the state and we can not let that happen here as many people, students, workers and community members depend on public transportation.
I support this petition because I understand that support to AATA has economic and environmental benefits to me regardless of where I live in the community. I feel that the social equity provided by good transit service is important. Also please consider express service to Chelsea.
I support this petition and feel that stopping bus services in the Ypsi area would create a major problem and most of all an inconvenience for residents needing transportation. It's only going to make things worse for Ypsilanti as a whole.
