I support this petition. The Ypsilanti township is already struggling why must a city service like transportation be stopped when people count on the buses to get to work or school, and to get to the neighboring city Ann Arbor.
I support this petition fervently. Ypsi's shared bus service with Ann Arbor is absolutely essential, and it would be a sign that Ypsilanti wants to destroy itself if the bus service with Ann Arbor is reduced or eliminated. There isn't even a question--it's vital.
And to reduce or eliminate this service at a time when all Americans could stand to use public transportation more is ludicrous, not to mention the slap in the face to all the hardworking people and/or those without behicles who rely on the bus service.
I'm still just baffled at the thought. Why do we continue to set Ypsilanti up to fail, especially when not long ago the city was showing real signs of upliftment and renewed promise.
Aye carumba! Leave the bus system in place!!!
Thank you.
I support this petition. The ramifications of this budget cut are enormous. People depend on these buses. If you're trying to save money, making it impossible for people to get to their jobs is not the way. Additionally, if these bus routes are eliminated, the Ypsilanti economy will suffer as a result of a decreased number of people being able to get to the city to make purchases at local business establishments. Finally, removing these bus routes has the most devastating effect on the more disadvantaged populations, making it ever harder than it already is to for them to receive the services they so desperately need.
I support this petition. The more bus routes and the more frequent they run the better. Plus, Ypsi has some of the most affordable housing for both Ann Arbor employees and UofM students. Keep the routes.
I support this petition!!! Ypsi bus service is utilized by many people - not just UM students and staff, but the working folk that keep Ann Arbor running (without clogging the streets with unnecessary traffic)
I support this petition!! There are so many people including my family that depend on this service. Public transportation is one of the primary reasons we and others purchased a home in Ypsilanti. Without this service, we will have trouble attracting U of M students, faculty, and middle income working people that rely on AATA service. How are we to be the next "cool city" if we effectively reduce the number of young and creative people that choose Ypsilanti as home? This certaintly can't be good for property values!
I support this petition. I don't use the bus too much any more but it wouls sure be a bad thing to get rid of the services. It's too babd it stoped going to Saline...I know may who really needed it...
I dont normally ride the bus but I strongly support having tax money support it. I moved to Ypsilanti specifically *because* of the bus service. It is nice to know that if my car breaks down, I can still get to work.
I support this petition. The idea of decreasing a service that already needs improvement is silly. p.s. what about all of those commutin' EMU students?!?
I support this petition. Cutting bus service may save money for a short time, but I can only imagine that it would quickly prove harmful to Ypsi's economy.
I support this petition. This is a short sighted decision that will affect lots of "working poor people" in Ypsilanti & Ann Arbor. It is bad enough that our bus service is every half hour or every hour between Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti; now you want to eliminate all service in Ypsilanti! There are a lot of agencies that poor people utilize in Ypsilanti; the State of MI Dept of Human Services, the Washtenaw County Human Services, The Washtenaw County Health Dept, The WIC program and the UM Ypsilanti Family Practice Clinic. I work near MI Ave & Prospect where all these services are located. We need more service to the east side of Ypsi not less. Please start paying attention to people's REAL needs. This is an essential service that must be enhanced not cut!
I support this petition. Public transit is vital to a prosperous and efficient culture. Band-aide budget cuts like this are short sighted and will not help Ypsilanti in the long run.
