To reduce and/or eliminate AATA bus service is to reduce jobs and service options available to Ypsilanti residents. Many residents rely on the bus to provide for their basic needs, and unless city officials are willing to provide a more convenient mode of transportation, I will not support this proposal. The bus service we already have provides an insufficient level of service for many Ypsilanti residents. But to propose the elimination/reduction of this necessary service is indeed preposterous. We need more bus service, not less. If an income tax is necessary to ensure the self-sufficiency of Ypsilanti residents, so be it.
I support this petition. How would the high school kids get to school and work and the college students. We need transportation. Especially when somebody car break down they can still get around on the bus. We need our bus trasportation
I have several friends who depend on AATA to get from Ypsi to work in A2, and know that it would be huge problem for them if the service is eliminated.
I support this petition. don't continue to punish those who want to work, but are finacially strapped. This bus system allows many people the opportunity to get better work.
I support this petition. We also need weekend service and shelters along freeway service drive routes. Help, I have handicap issues and this services allows me to take care of my business.
I support this petition. Mass transportation is important in days of bad economy, high pollution, congested traffic and many other problems. It would be extremely irresponsible to cut service which is already pretty limited. Not only will it have a detrimental effect on the environment but the local economy. Get a clue people.
There are many Ypsi residents that rely on public transit to get to work and school. Eliminating bus service would be devastating to these residents, not to mention the negative environmental effects that would result from losing these routes.
In a time when we are being asked to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels, it only makes sense we have affordable mass transportation, available to all of us. Please preserve AATA service to Ypsilanti.
We already have such a limited mass transit system for our large metro area, to limit it more would be irresponsible to the enviroment and to those citizens without their own transportation to work and school, as well as recreation. It may seem cost effective in the short term, but the consequences in lost revenue and jobs will be much more severe.
Transit is absolutely necessary for a functional area. It helps develop areas that are worth investing in, like downtowns. It's not just for the poor. One shouldn't have to drive in a functional area, even if one can. The preservation of a functional transit system is essential. If only there were some sort of County / State funding system.
I support this petition. Affordable access to the various resources, homes, and jobs available in both Ann Arbor & Ypsi is something all residents should be able to count on. Please find another way to save money.
Members of the EMU community who help to save the enviroment by taking communal forms of transportation should be supported (and able) to do so. please don't stop this service!
So many people depend on these buses to get to work and school. Ypsi in particular would suffer greatly from this action. There has to be a better way!
I have lived in Ann Arbor-Ypsi since 1988 *because* I can get around by bus. At present, like many, many others, I live in Ypsi and work in Ann Arbor. It benefits both cities to connect the homes and workplaces of so many people via a dependable bus system.
I support this petition.
I know many, many people who work in Ann Arbor, but live in Ypsilanti, and cannot afford any other type of transportation than AATA Bus service.
This would not be a good idea, to eliminate the service.
I support this petition. Do not create more division in our society between those who have access to other opportunities beyond their immediate environment and those who do not.
I support this petition, but also desire to make the point known that for me to get to my job, or the y, go shopping or even see my friends and family i use the bus. i think this service ought to be strengthened rather than weakened. perhaps getting more people on mass transit could prove lucrative?
I support this petition. There are too many people who depend on the bus to get to school and work to stop services. It will only force people to move away from your city, and make worse an already poor economy.
