Bush calls it "Social Security Reform". It is, in fact, Social Security DEFORM. He is doing this because the rich don't NEED it. His coalition of the rich and the ignorant will be difficult to overcome. If this passes, let's begin the secession process in the Blue states.
Once this new budget plan is exposed this afternoon, we will have no choice but to increase minimum wage to keep 3/4 of our country from falling into the poverty bracket.
Especially after hearing Bush's proposed budget it's more necessary then ever to raise minimum wage and also to stop the lies that Bush is trying to spread to the American Citizens.
This is a travesty of justice. Social security is not a hand out. I have paid into this system for 40 years, and do not want to see it changed under any circumstances. Replace the money that has been stolen. First the Bush family gave us the savings and loan heist costing billions if not trillions, now they want to do the same with social security. Stop them at any cost.
TOTALLY FLAWED IDEA to ATTEMPT start having private accounts for retirement, that is no form of real security, or any social security... you cant change horses mid stream,..... a middle aged 51 year old like myself... stuck.. will many of my peers be homeless elderly,(sob) except the very rich , which is SEEMS you care about mr george w. WAKE UP.. our society is interwoven and interdependent, and that is a good beginning, but it needs to be expanded for health care basics and emergencies for ALL US citizens.. we are a third world country in that sense.....
the money for retirees would come from the same place, and void the tax cuts on rich...over 20 to 30 years, there could be gradual replacement of the funds taken from soc security for the nasty deficit... there will be more contributions, raise the min, and may have to increase the ben a llttle less per year, if severely needed.... MR George W., i dont think you have on your thinking cap, OR you are just a self centered pioussnob sho does not care about us, the people.. It is os hard surviving in this modern age. Even on a higher than minimum wage salary do I find it very difficult to financially support the neccesities of life. We cannot survive. Isn't the job of our government to look out and take care of the people? Well everybody except for the very wealthy are suffering. Prescription Drug Plans on Part B of Medicaid must be re-tooled to included 805 reimbursement with no increased premimium. Medicaid in general needs to be looked at, including part A....particularly benefits made available for mentally ill adults.

The European democracies are demonstrating to us the a social net for our people is the only way forward. A livable minimum wage is the first step. There should be no cap for FICA wages; that in itself would solve the social security shortfall. We are the only advanced democracy without guarenteed heathcare for all our citizens

While you're boycotting abusive pharmacies, don't forget to boycott those that allow their pharmacists to refuse to fill legally prescribed medications because the pharmacist has "ideological" hangups about certain medications. It is not acceptable to allow extremist ideologies to override a doctor's expert medical diagnosis and the patients choice to take the prescribed medication. Since when is an uninformed pharmacist allowed to have more power over medical decisions than a medical professional's diagnosis based on the private details of a patient's history, which are unknown to the pharmacist?

Everything stated in the petition is true. Bush applies fear to get his way and give our monies to the rich. Take the ceiling off of Social Security - it will be solvent for many, many years to come. Educated people know that he is lying and trying to scare people into believing his way. Pray God that he does not accomplish what he wants to do to Social Security. He has already started Medicare on the path to ruin - we must fix that also.
