This is one animated show I would love to see on DVD. The Proud Family has a 14 year old teenager Penny Proud(Kyla Pratt), crazy father Oscar Proud(Tommy Davidson In Living Color) who has a snack business, but he makes no money because his snacks taste horrible. You have mom Trudy Proud(Paula Jai Parker) that’s a successful veterinarian, and loving wife and mother. Her hip crazy grandmother Suga Mama( Jo Marie Payton Family Matters), who loves her some Papi, but he does not love her back!! Penny has twin siblings Bee Bee, Cee Cee. Penny has her friends Dijonay Jones(Karen Malina White – A Different World, Cosby Show, Malcolm and Eddie) Zoey(Soleil Moon Frye), LaCienega and Sticky(Orlando Jones). The cast is rounded out with the Gross sisters who bully people into giving them money all the time.

This show is so much fun to watch. Penny is always on some fun adventure, and going through the usual things teens go through. Crushes, wanting to play sports, loving her friends, hating one in particular. One of my favorite episodes was Wedding Bell Blues when Suga Mama was getting married, and she transformed into a thin woman. Not to mention Suga Mama is so full of life, I just love her. Culture Shock is another great episode, dealing with culture differences. Smackmania 6: Mongo vs. Mama’s Boy is an episode I still laugh at to this day. EZ Jackster was right on time with the whole Napster situation going on and the issues with sharing music online. There are so many great episodes it’s difficult to choose just one to be a favorite. This is a wonderful show the whole family can watch and discuss together.

Cederic the Entertainer often guest starred as the voice of Bobby Proud. Bobby was totally stuck in the 70’s!!! Aries Spears was the voice for Wizard Kelly and some other characters. Kim Possible is available on DVD, the Proud Family should also be available for purchase on DVD.
