I support this with every living molecule in my body.The musical aspect of punk is still on life support, but the ideals and attitude that punk had has long been executed and dragged through the streets. Metal is a far superior music anyway. It sounds better, requires more skill to play, and the best thing about it? You don't have to go out of your way to look poor!! If punk was still alive, I wouldn't see many of these self proclaimed

There are many variations of the term 'Punk'. When punk first started, it began as a rebellion against the system, they wore what they wore as a 'I don't give a fu ck what you think I look like' type of deal. Then as the 80s came, 'Street punks' were created, and punks were somewhat categorised from being a rebellious group to thugs, street gangs, and hoodlums. This would continue until the whole punk faze was finally dying out around the early 90s, the same time that Gangsta rap became the new faze. Speeding things up to the year 2002, punk makes its comeback, but in a different aspect, the complete opposite of what the original term stood for. With bands like Good Charlotte and Avril Lavigne, punk has now become a teenybopper fad, closely similar to the boyband faze, and since then to now, the term has been called 'Pop punk', but more recently has adopted more of the name of 'Emo'.

It seems, over the years, the definition of "punk" has lost its meaning . . . A lot of the old punk rockers/freaks are still around and are still rockin' to this day. I can't say punk is dead, it's just taken on a new look . . .a branch off the original punk scene. Unfortuantely, teenie boppers and 'posers' have taken over the scene. Back in the day, punk included all kinds of people, geeks to freaks to gays, they all rocked the music and got into the mosh pit and complete chaos ensued. Punk rock is like a big F*CK YOU to the "What's In" crowd. Although, unfortunately, the teens are making punk the "what's in" type of style (so, it being a contradiction of itself). It's not the music that's killing punk, it's being strangled by overpopulation, I suppose. The true punk is still an underground thing (so basically, the "fashionable" punk rockers can't find it).
