l hope Randy makes it, and our Goverment should help, But you should alse respect the laws of all Countries, some of them will exacute you, thats the price you pay for breaking there laws
I don't support his crime and believe that he should be punished for it. However, this sentence and living conditions are absord and he deserves another chance.
I was appalled and disgusted in the treatment this young man (and the other prisoners) are forced to live under. I too appeal to the Vietnamese Government for clemency in this case and pray this young man will be brought home to Canada to complete his sentence. I pray for his family also.
This young man has admitted he made a terrible mistake. His family is also having to pay a horrific price. There is no justifiable reason that he couldn't serve this time in Canada. I urge everyone signing this petition to also petition Paul Martin, their MP's, EVERYONE to help get this young man home. He will die otherwise, in a country that knows no compassion, knows only corruption. Please PLEASE don't let the ball stop here.
Randy admits his guilt and is potentially a productive person to society, I think he should be sent home. He has learned a valuable and painful lesson. We must appreciate foreign laws before committing crimes!
This corruption should not be tolerated, not just for a Canadian citizen, but any person. For the government to know about this situation and allow it to continue is horrendous.
Sometimes we may make a bad decision in life. Randy broke a law that in Canada would have been punished with a fine and some community service. Randy is not a murderer or child molester yet he is being punished as one. The decision your government has made is simply not justified. The young man has already spent more time in prison than he deserves. Please stop the insanity and release him to Canadian authorities. He needs to be treated as a human being, not an animal.
For the sake of Randy Sachs and his family, I urge everyone to send e-mails to your Members of Parliament demanding that they make this issue a priority and not allow a fellow Canadian to be left to suffer in this hellhole of a prison. The list of Members can be found at www.parl.gc.ca In this case, the punishment is far worse than the crime. Four years ago, at great risk to his own life, this young Canadian saved the life of a man who was trapped in a burning car. It's time to save Randy's life.
