Jennifer Aniston. Courtney Cox-Arquette. Lisa Kudrow. Lindsay Lohan. Christina Ricci. Mary Kate Olsen. These are all women that, while they might not be horribly talented actresses(Christina Ricci being the exception), are all heavily admired by American women. Another characteristic that all these women share is that in recent years, these already beautiful women have become dangerously thin. We all know it. The problem is all of the pressure their fans put on them because they don't see them as real. I read stories about "encounters" with famous celebrities in coffee shops, in the grocery store, in restaurants, on the street, etc. Do you know WHY celebrities turn up in all of those places? Because they are PEOPLE. That's right. They are normal people with an extraordinary job. Hollywood women are going to keep getting skinnier and skinnier until eventually one of them drops dead. I don't know how to stop it. Maybe it won't stop, even after someone dies, because America needs to worship something. All I know is that I need to make my piece known. This is a campaign for REAL BEAUTY. (Yeah, I know Dove coined the phrase. So sue me for copyright infringement.) I am a short, fat girl with a mouth to match, and I think there needs to be a serious change in our entertainment industry. So show your support!! Let's fight back and see some REAL women up there on that movie screen!!!! Give Calista Flockhart a brownie! Let's do it!!!

i support this, despite the irony of the fact that since the age of about
11 i hav battled with my body in an effort 2 match these skinny
celebrities. i no its wrong and horrible and i have never done anything
drastic but everyone should support this petition because its absolutely
terrible that the media are allowed to disgrace womens bodies in this way
just for money. a womans body is beautiful and should be respected. and as
for number 3, they can go and **** themselves |

More people should sign this petition. It's more important than
petitions about what celebrity ****s. I'm an average sized girl,
I'm extremely athletic, and I'm strong. Girls need to
realize that the pictures in magazines are all made over. The pictures are
synthetic. The PEOPLE in the pictures are synthetic, theoretically.
I'm doing a speech about this topic, how all these celebrities are
made over, and all the high tech stuff photographers use to change pictures
for the advertisements. Hell, body-chopping ( a technique used to make
anything on the person smaller) can make a celebrity that is, say, 180
pounds look 110! Oh, and did you know that on average, all models weigh 23%
less than the average female? It's disgusting. Look on the web for
more info. It's pretty interesting stuff. Anyways, I agree that we
need to see more real Women in movies and other things. And if any of you
feel bad about yourselves, don't get yourself down! These
celebrities and models are not normal! If you go to the Dove for Real
Beauty campaigne sight, there are pictures of women who are normal and
beautiful. The next time you see one of those models in a magazine, think
twice about what you're really looking at. |
