If you do not reinstate Randi immediately I my company will no longer advertise on Air America Radio. What you did is nothing less that corporate run censorship. Air America needs to stop acting like the Bush Crime Family
Bring back Randi! In general Randi is a bit over-the-top for me to listen to regularly...but that is who she is and why she was hired. I don't understanding punishing her for who she is and why she was hired.
Air America's face looks pretty stupid without it's nose. Trotsky and the icepick. Feed your enemies. Two themes from Stephanie fit so well (you won't muzzle her next?)
Good grief AAR; have you lost all perspective??? We still have a First Amednment and frankly, Randi was well within her rights to express her opinion. Get off your high horse and give us back Randi. Stop being small minded idiots. Stop letting the Neocons win by bending to their whims.
You've got to be kidding me! No one in their right mind, would ever let Randi go -- she is a true patriot. It is tiime for those in charge, to be brave and stand up for the America we all miss. Give Randi an apology, her job back, and a big fat promotion -- she is a gem which you should polish and not punish! Randi is an American hero!
Freedom of speech is essential to democracy. We must not let these underhanded methods remove voices of free speech from the public air waves.Let us truly honor the Founding Fathers and truly be patriotic, by serving freedom of speech and democracy.
Air America should be ashamed of itself for putting corporate interests ahead of free speech. When one sells themselves for money or power without regard to the morality of the situation, they should be called on it. IF it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, well, you know the rest. Bring Randi back and give us back the voice of reason and considered opinion. This isn't the kindergarten playground. We can handle tough talk and come to our own conclusions as to whether to agree or not.
Mr Green,
Remember Freedom of speech? Ms Rhoades was NOT on the air at the time...if she and her listeners are not apoligized to, I will NEVER tune into your station again....
Although, I truly understand Air America's disappointment with the statements provided by Ms. Randi Rhodes, I do agree with other listeners signing this petition, supporting the reinstatement of Randi Rhodes back to our airwaves.
This was a private event. It was NOT broadcasted on the radio. And, it was advertised that Randi was going to get wild and crazy at this event. Morning Sedition , The Mike Malloy Show and now Randi. Bravo Air America you keep getting rid of your best hosts/shows. And now with this latest media spalsh that you made this into you're playing right into the right-wing's hand. Shame on you for denying Randi her right to free speech!
Why can't I hear Randi. Where's the real and honest commentary I want in this sea of media delusion. I'm not going to beg for something I now expect ... and thanks to Randi I wouldn't have said that 4 years ago. Where she goes - I go, and that's all I need to know. Put up or shut up. I think every RR listener will agree when I say DON'T TREAD ON ME!
Randi is the reason I started listening to progressive radio and Air America. I recommend Air America to everyone I meet who is interested in politics and AM radio. How is it that other talk radio entertainers spew vile remarks over the air ways and no one makes claims about them (Michael Savage for example)?
Randi is a scapegoat only for the Hillary campaign. She is much more than that for anyone clearly able to help themselves to the truth. Please reinstate this top-flight newsperson and talk show host, and end the enablement of below-the-belt politics. Thank you. Signed, John Lodge Connelly
I have listened to Randi Rhodes for years now and disagree with her suspension is not right. 1 it was a night club and not on air and 2 what happened to the first amendment freedom of speech who cares if it offends which it did not offend anyone there that night they were all loving her. you will end up hurting yourself taking her off the air. Sam is not Randi bring her back we need the tough loud progressive. Please bring her back me and my family miss her.
If it was on-air, you might have cause to take disciplinary action. It wasn't, you don't, and regardless of any legal considerations you shouldn't have. Bring Randi back or lose this listener to whatever network does.
Get Randi back on the RADIO. My wife and I went to the show in S.F. and had a great time. It turned out as we expected. We knew she would be cutting loose since the show was not being broadcast live. Come on chill out, this was the San Francisco Bay Area People, home of the free speech movement at U.C Berkeley in the 60's! If anyone expected less they should have stayed at home and listened to Randi on the radio!Sincerely,Disgruntl ed
The voice of Randi Rhodes is needed, now more than ever! Don't let Air America go down the tubes as it undoubtedly will if you do not immediately reinstate Randi.
I was at the event, and I'm used to profanity being used in stand up comedy. Randi should not have been suspended as she was not on the air, and this was an over 21 event. I respect her as she researches her information thoroughly, and tells us listeners to look up the information for ourselves. Please bring Randi back!!
I think, in a time of such national difficulties, we NEED Randi's voice back to tell us about the threats to our civil liberties. We miss her so..and hope this unique and beautiful voice will return immediately!
Bring Randi Back - Without Randi I have no real reason to listen to Air America. I started listening because of her and without her I will live stream Tom Joyner.
I completely support the suspension, and I'm sorry so many people want AAR to operate the way FOX does - overlook the irresponsible, offensive statements of hosts because they weren't on-air, or because the words support the network's agenda. I want AAR and liberals to be BETTER than neocons, not abuse and employ the same tactics, but to the lib point of view. Let RR take her week or whatever off, and we can all move on.
If you let her go for this then shame on you. Once you open the jeannie you can not lock her away again. We will find a way to hear her anyway Shame on all of you
Air America has made plenty of mistakes over the years to render itself a business laughingstock, but suspending Randi is by far and away the worst. By succumbing to pressure instead of upholding Randi's First Amendment rights, AAR has proven to be a pathetic defender of the liberal cause. Do the right thing, choke back your pride, and reinstate the only reason why anyone still listens to your network. As long as there's KGO and Nova M, liberal radio will go on nicely without you, thank you very much.
Randi Rhodes speaks for me. I am approximately Randi's age and identify with the vernacular of progressive politics of the late 1960s and 1970s. There is no point getting bent our of shape about our use of 4-letter words . . . they are a part of our freedom to express our anger. I understand that times are changing and that many of us may need to re-think our overuse of the
Bring them all back: Randi, Janeane, Al, the whole crew. And, make them do stupid things every week: JFo could get arrested one week, Al could throw things the next, and so on.It's not that I care about Randi or AAR, it's just that that would both keep them off the streets and increase the traffic to my site.
If Randi is not reinstated soon, I will work to boycott Air A. I am a member of a union, several professional associations, local sports clubs, many internet lists. I come in contact with hundreds of students every semester. This is a warning: DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT MESS WITH RANDI!!!!
This action smells of affection for the Clintons and their moneyed friends rather than defense of AAR reputation or principles. The same politico-sycophance so detestable in other media companies appearing at AAR? Disappointing.
Randi is >>important than is AAR. Reinstate her or lose my Premium/OnDemand account. Ever heard of the 4th Amendment, or is that going to be abolished in a Hillary Clinton Presidency? For shame.
Suspending Randi for comments made off-air, at a private event, attended by her supporters, who both knew what to expect and largely agreed with her comments, is unreasonable and unfair. Ms. Rhodes contravened no FCC laws and in no way directly harmed Air America. When a right-wing host comes under fire for something said, I have never seen their employer disavow them so immediately or definitively. It pains me that progressives cannot maintain that kind of solidarity.
this is such a stupid decision considering the vulgar lies made each day in the name of the american people. I don't like her choice of words this time, but I love her program. 99% of the time she is brilliant and right on. so give it up
Randi Rhodes needs to be reinstated right now! This woman has changed talk radio forever. Her show has helped to inform and energize a liberal, progressive movement in this country like never before. A simple insult lodged against a Presidential candidate at an impromptu moment, as if this has never happened to anyone before, is not grounds to put an end to years of great work and great radio! Please re-instate Randi now!
I still think her remarks were inappropriate and sexist--not sure if she knew she was going to get in trouble for this..feels arbitrary by Air Am. This should initiate a good echange and you should air it
