Suspending Randi for language used in a non-broadcast standup routine at a bar is WAY over the top interference in free speech. The audience paid to hear Randi (and to support green960 NOT Air America). The audience was not offended, it was not inappropriate language for the venue - it was not broadcast. Her performance to that audience did not reflect in any way on Air America, only on Randi as a performer which as can be seen, was received positively and appreciatively. However Air America management's actions DO reflect on the company in a VERY negative way. In fact, if she is not reinstated I will contact Air America advertisers and recommend they pull their ads since a boycott of advertisers will likely follow.
While I dislike some of Randi's style, I think suspending Randi for off-air night-club comedy, is gutless censorship of political criticism -- based on the weak old excuse of obscenity.Such is unacceptable to this listener. At least we again know where AAR sits.
Reinstate Randi Rhodes!!!! Those of us who PAY to listen to Air America are not happy that you have taken the BEST thing about your radio station off the air indefinitely. Bring Randi back, or cancel my subscription!
Her absence, today, left me searching the dial for a substitute listen on my commute : I found none. I turned my radio off and drove home in silence. This is wrong.
How was her comedy club routine so different from those of other people? Why is she expected to have a different standard of behavior? Agree with her or disagree with her: so what? She expressed an opinion; she didn't advocate violence or other lawbreaking, and if that's what she thinks of Clinton and Ferraro, so what? People who want things to be PC don't go to comedy clubs.

And contrasted to Ann Coulter, who claims to be a comedienne, Randi Rhode's comedy routine is really funny.
First Mike Malloy, then Thom Hartmann has disappeared from the NYC affiliate. And Sam Seder is only on on Sundays and as fill in. If Randi is not reinstated I will NOT be listening. I've got an Ipod.
Either put her back on the air or hopefully she can leave and go to Nova M. She is the best that Air America has going. She leaves and it is a quick trip to the end for Air America.
Get Randi back now! This is really stupid that she was suspended for something that wasn't said on the air. I'll leave Air America if she's not re-instated and I've listen since the very first day.
wow - what as happened to the 1st admendment ? it's painful to see how little tolerance there is for free speech as everyone fears guilty by association. we should learn from B.Obama how to handle these matters with thoughtfulness and class. this was not on the air, and unless the entire trip was underwritten by AAR i don't see how they can claim this as their event.

I attended the event and the crowd loved her! I thought she was just letting off steam and letting her hair down, after all the tongue biting she has to do on the air. It was a stand up comedy gig - not the evening news! The video coverage however, should probably NOT have been streamed online, given the reactionary, sound-bite world we find ourselves in today. Bring Randi back - she is the heart and soul of Air America!

Given all the sexist/racist/anti-human crap spewn daily on right-wing cable and talk radio, Randi's words are mild at best. AND they were spoken at a comedy club which nobody would have heard were we not in the YouTube/cellphone camera age. Stop being such babies AAR and bring her back on!
Air America Radio may not like the fact that their on-air talent expresses non-corporatist opinions on their own time, but... guess what. We are fighting in this country for freedom from extremist oppression from those who would eviscerate the Constitution. AAR's response? To smother the free expression of one of its best-loved voices. aar needs to hire her back. she is one of only 3 talkers thats worth listening to. I've been listening to the station from day one and she was the 1'st voice i heard and she rocked. since then A.A.R has lost it's chops. they fired all the good host like marc maron and mike malloy. they shoved sam seder to the weekends and now their left with her, rachel and sam once a week and filling in. Mark green is a hypocrite. when he was running for mayor of nyc just prior to 9/11 he was winning. then after 9/11 he said that he could do just as good a job as guilliani if not better. it got picked up and even got turned into a commercial. can we say pot calling the kettle black. A.A.R has been badly run by green and they fail to understand people want air america version 1.0. the one we fell in love with. If they get rid of randi i'm cancelling my membership and i'llfollow her where ever she goes.
