I have lot of memories from this album. I was 19 when it was released and it was a wild time in my life with lot of partys, peace love and understanding, sitting in a park outside Stockholm playing guitar and drinking beer. I remember when I learned to play Donīt be denied. My vinyl is since long gone and I have collected all Neils albums on CD. I miss this one.
I am 17 and have listened to Neil with my parents all my life, I play guitar because of him and underdstand life way beond my years because of him. I would never have picked up a guitar if it weren't for him
I bought this record sometime in 87-88 in a bin at my hometown headshop, and having just heard and really absorbed on the beach, I thought it was the best live record I ever heard. Bitter and sad and lonely, a lot like ZI felt at the time. It helped me. I think it should be out there for everybody to hear.
I understand that the fact that this was recorded direct-to-disc means there was no true "master", but weren't there cassette, 8-track, and open-reel versions made? Surely there is an acceptable "master" somewhere.
time doesn't fade away, we do. So we do stuff to help get us thru to the next thing, whatever that is. Sharing emotions does it too, it helps get us thru.
I have owned the LP "Time Fades Away" for the best part of 20 yrs and consider it to be a critical component of the Neil Young catalog. It's a dark, gritty and raw piece of work and one of my personal favorites. I would love to be able to purchase a CD version of this essential Neil Young recording.
Please Re-Release.
I know Neil hated the tour from which this was taken & had problems with the band, etc.
But it still remains a great album - some of the songs are exceptional.
And more to the point - my vinyl copy is very worn, and I dont want to get a pirated digital download!
Please take my money for a fresh legit CD.
How could this be left out of Mr. Young's catalog? I'm no "fanatic" about Neil but I do buy the "less pleasing" releases he has put out - or, YOU have - and I want to know how high in my Neil Young collection to stack it and I'd like to know that Neil was getting some personal payment from its "legitimate" sales, not "nothing at all" from bootlegs and downloads.
Thank You,
George C. O'Connor
A true collectors and i need it, i live in Australia and cant get it! i also would like to send a life message to Neil it's important for me to do this but i need a contact - i the best songs he has writen is - Expecting to Fly, A man needs a maid, Old Man and Heart of Gold.
I wouldn't have made it through high school in the mid-70's without this and On the Beach. So many nights walking home with my best friend singing the lyrics, feeling the pain. Lost the 8-track long ago. Got a used copy from a dealer in Hamilton. Play it in the morning -"Time to go to work!"
