TFA - a favourite of mine, from the most respected artist I've ever seen or heard. Like many others, my vinyl is treasured like no other, but as my Time Fades Away, I beg that I Don't Be Denied a blissful Journey Thru the Past. A Love in Mind is that the CD release will be LA Bridge to the glorious Last Dance of the long awaited Archives ....
I believe that Neil is overly concerned about the raw and ragged nature of this record and is hesitant to release it for this reason. However, many fans (like me) can remember TFA as an intriguing follow up to Harvest that, once absorbed, took the listener to deeper, darker places. "Don't Be Denied" is as personal as it gets. TFA is wonderful art that "should not be denied" the world. C'mon Neil, TFA's an important part of the big picture for avid fans...put it out, please!
I bought a vinyl copy 12 or 13 years ago, copied to tape for the car and played it. A lot. This is one of Neil's most under-rated albums, possibly due to the fact that new fans have barely heard it in the last 30 years!
Yes please reissue "Time Fades Away" on CD! I don't care if the sonic quality is not pristine. I can burn a pretty decent CD from my old LP, so I know it's possible. While they're at it, let's get the whole reprise catalogue remastered and reissued with original artwork as well as any other materials left off!
Cheers,
James Allen
This has always been among my favorite Neil records. Despite its obvious flaws, it was the perfect antidote to the pop music of the day. Long after I sold my turntable, I kept that album in the hope that I could hear it again someday. Please Neil, I know releasing it means you have to listen to it again, and probably several times, so I feel bad about it, but it wquld make me so happy.
Neil you have been a friend of mine for 30 years. lst saw you in L.A.[LIVE RUST]I think I was 17 I have everything that has come out since then and I have seen you solo you and the HORSE and C.S.N.Y. ? Question: What does Neil say when someone asks him to finally release Time Fades Away on CD?
Answer: Just listen to the lyrics on Last Dance right after Neil sings "You can live your own life, making it happen, working on your own time, laid back and laughin'"
I remember at 14 just being blown away by this album. Now 30 years down the road, the only way I can get a copy is rob my older brothers collection. It is time to release Neil's entire catalog. He is Reprise Records greatest artist, surpassing Frank Sinatra and Jimi Hendrix
I had the opportunity to buy this album used, but didn't, kicked myself for not, cause I never saw it again. When I heard it through bootlegged copies, I thought this was just about one of the most raw live albums I've ever heard. I only wish I could have the choice to be able to buy a legitimate CD release of this.
Please get this album released on CD, along with "Where The Buffalo Roam", and Journey To The Past"---if this is done, my whole Neil Young collection will be complete.
WE LOVE YOU, NEIL!!!
from Durham, NC. USA - Have never heard any of Time Fades Away but hope that I will someday get the chance. You have the power to make it happen, please do. Neil rules!
