Having never actually heard this album, it's hard to know if its raptuous online reviews aren't merely the nostalgic ravings of completist nerds. But I'm a dedicated fan and would simply like the opportunity to decide for myself...the same way I did with 'American Stars N Bars'.
"Time Fades Away" is one of my all-time favorite Neil Young albums. I've worn out both of my vinyl copies. Sure it's a little rough around the edges, but that's what makes it so real. And the tunes are really great. Even now, more than 30 years after I first heard them, they still run through my head. Please, Neil, re-release "Time Fades Away" on CD or as an iTunes download.
My friends mom gave me this album when I was 13 years old. I used to rock out to "Fourteen junkies too sick to work..." before I had a clue. Still do.
Let the puppies breathe!
I first saw Neil Young at Cuesta Colleg when he played with the Eagles. I was spellbound the whole concert, never once raising my Rolleiflex to capture it, even though, as a professional photographer, I was within 4 feet of someone who now I have almost every album, and revere them in the same high esteem as the poet Kenneth Patchen. Both make one cry in the beauty and truth of their words, music, and art.
When all my friends in high school were listening to Yes and Edgar Winter, this was the shit. I found an unopened vinyl copy last summer, but would much rather Neil got the profit from a new CD release.
I would love to own the CD version of this great album. I was at the concert in San Diego at Sports Arena the night they recorded "Last Dance" which ended up being on the record.
How knowledge of this album has eluded me (a huge Neil Young fan) all these years is completely beyond me. I'm actually a bit ashamed. But... I'd still LOVE to hear it!
We can do this together.
Like Neil's buddy Bob Dylan said: I shall be released!
I've worn out my vinyl and I need this on c.d. How about the soundtrack to Journey Thru The Past? A d.v.d. of that would also be cool. M.B Everett, Wa. U.S.A.
Reprise,TW and Neil,
Please release this classic, groundbreaking masterpiece 'Time Fades Away'.
After all these years it's still one of my favorite releases!
"Don't be denied, don't be denied."
Bought the vinyl in high school and it was always one of my favorites. The current genertion needs to hear this music too.
Thanks for all the tunes.
Chuck
This really is a fabulous album. Thankfully, I still have my dad's vinyl. On The Beach made it back into print, as did Comes A Time, etc. Time Fades needs to take its place back among the great rock albums of all time!
I was at the Bakersfield Civic Audtorium concert when some of the album was recorded Ghram Nash and David Crosby joined Neil I was only 18 (yes I am 50 now)and have never seen a better performance since. Linda Roinstat (excuse the spelling) was the opening performer. I would love to buy this music to add to my collection.
