Truly a work of art that can't be ignored. A piece of Neil's life that cannot just be placed in the corner. Along with Tonight's the Night and On The Beach, this tells the story of a man in a deep depression. This could be about anyone, not just neil young. really an inspritaional album
I no longer have a turntable to play it on, but "Time Fades Away" is still a keeper! This has been on my wish list for such a long time! I'm so glad I happened across this site!
In "Almost Famous," I immediately recognized Cameron Crowe's homage to the album cover. I loved this film because he captured the sound of that era - I'm not talking about the songs, but the acoustics and ambiance of a great concert hall like Winterland. That was such a special place!
I remember when I first saw Neil perform "Last Dance" at Winterland on 3-22-1973, pre-release of "Time Fades Away." It was magical!
When it came out, I spent many, many hours with this album, re-living that show. It's time to be transported once again...
Thanks for starting this petition!
Found this great album in great condition in the forsaken vinyl section in the back of my new & used cd store. Didn't know what it was doing there or think much of it at the time, but glad I held on to it because this album is like fine wine in that it truly grows better and more deeply satisfying with time and with each subsequent listen. A truly fine and long overdue candidate for a digital audio upgrade and release.
I have changed my mind. I love the fact that this record, one of his best to be sure, has not been released on CD, in compliance with his wishes. Makes it more special and sacred. There are ways to hear it if people really want to.
