Personally im of the opinion that conservative reliogion does get in the way of progress and frankly has no place in modern society. But i dont think we should rule out the existance of god... but first what is god? I dont think that he is some big old man living up in the clouds. I lean toward the existance of this being that is just beyond our understanding, because for one main reason: the universe could have been chaotic and random, but it is not; it follows a set rules of physics beautifully. Why is this so? The only explanation is see for this is the existance of a higher intelligent being.

here is something for ya also. you christians, you have rules correct? isnt one of the rules something like dont judge others for i will do the judging? am i right on that? perhaps, no not the same words but i know there is one like that. so here is the point. you are judging these people for their diffrent religions. you are telling people that they are going to hell. so in turn you have broken that rule several times throughout your life, i am sure. so does this mean that you are going to be judged badly by your "god"? hmmm funny how things can be pin pointed when you dont think before you speak :)

i found many things here that i have read similar to my own philosophy. there is always possibility of something but there is also doubt. as for the bible, well ...yea lol. lets take a think here. the bible was originally writen in a diffrent language ( i am not sure what for i am not a very religist person) which means when it was retranslated and rewritten things could have been over exaggerated. have you ever played the telephone game in school? where the teacher tells one kids something and by the time it gets around the room it is nothing near what the teacher said. well the stories of the bible have been passed down, not through a class room, but through hundreds of years. no one can tell me that things couldnt have gotten exaggerated at all or that the story is true right down to every little word. you cant its impossible. were you there? no you werent so how do you know for sure? here is another example. paranoid schizophrenia! if you know what this diesease does it will fit perfect with jesus. people that have this diesease think that they are god, a secret agent that has to save the president, or even the only human being in the world with the cure for war. delusions play a huge part in paranoid schizophrenia. so now putting those pieces together, what if jesus had this mental disorder? what if his brain told him that he was the son of god? as for the miricles, if they really did happen...why hasnt anyone talked to god? or seen him? why havent angel come and given people great quest to go on to save them selves with others suffer? because it didnt happen. think about it more. does any of it really make and scientific sence at all? you tell me.

Natalie, your argument fails. First, you would think that having to formulate arguments for why a god exists would clue you in that it probably does not. Also, all of the feelings you listed can be explained; we know where they originated from, and besides which, "love", for instance, doesn't literally exist. Try thinking.

I am not a religious person, yet I respect the power of faith and belief. I have found something in common with all religions. If you do not live by a certain code, you will go to hell. I also have a question for all you Christians out there: If everything needs a creator, and therefore this proves God exsists, then How did God come into exsistence?

The Bible should not be taken literally. if science proves the bible wrong somewhere, people will lose faith. the bible is a metaphor, telling us how to live.
