THIS IS NOT AFFILITATED WITH THE STRASBURG RAILROAD (SRC) OR RAILROAD MUSEUM OF PENNSYLVANIA (RRMPA).

Would anyone like to see this again is service? Well, that's what this is all about. It began service on the Strasburg RR in the mid-1960s as a hand-me-down from the Standard RR of the World, the Pennsy. In the mid to late 80s, it went on mainline excursions from Strasburg to Harrisburg, Enola Yard, and (one trip) to Philadelphia with sister 4-4-2 7002. Retired in 1990, it is today on display at the RRMPA with the 7002.
My goal is 1000 signatures so we can see SRC restore 1223 back to active service.

My absolute favorite steam locomotive in the WORLD and she NEEDS to run again!! No matter what RRMPA and SRC says. So what if parts fail? SRC has the BEST shop to repair ANYTHING so RUN HER!!!

The 1223 could very well be the most important locomotive in the Strasburg Railroad's history. It is one of the last remains of the mightiest railroad in the world. Not only that, it was one of the first locomotives the railroad had, and it played a vital role in the railroad's 150th birthday celebration.

I would love 1223 to be restored and to be returned to service. i love steam engine trains alot. then lets make some railfan weekend trips to Philadelphia possibly.
