For an entire generation of Cardinals fans, Willie McGee was the face of the team. From his spectacular debut in 1982 to his retirement in 1999, Willie was a fan favorite. During his time with the Cardinals Willie was an MVP, two time batting champion, four time all-star and three time Gold Glove winner. Even though he was traded away in 1990, he returned in 1996 and picked up right where he left off as a St. Louis icon.

Please help in getting Willie's number 51 retired/ The Cardinals are opening a new ballpark this year and a ceremony for Willie would be a great way to christen the inaugural season.

I support this petition. Willie Dean McGee is one of the four faces of St. Louis baseball. He was a great player who deserves great honors for his contribution to a great game. His number and name need to be enshrined in not only St. Louis, but Cooperstown, NY as well.
