Firefly was great as a tv show on regular television, even better as a movie, and could be even better than that if we could see it again as a tv series on a premium tv station like HBO or Showtime.
This series was the best TV sf series ever and deserves to be revived. It could be a ratings success if it is given a fair chance, which it was not on Fox earlier. It is awful that it was cancelled while there is so much garbage on TV (and not just on Fox).
I've always considered Joss Whedon a genius in whatever he does. Firefly is no different and after seeing Serenity, it's sad how poorly FOX handled this show
Your calculations are totally inaccurate. Don't even think HBO or Showtime would pick up this show with a small (but granted, enthusiastic) fanbase. Haha, there's no way there's going to be any more episodes OR movies.
This show means so much to so many people, that picking it up can only bing good things. It already has a built in fanbase, and airing it on your network would only bring that number higher.
There are, to be completely honest, signs of genius in every person, but few people ever truly reach for it; fewer still touch it, embrace it; and rares of all are those that find a way to share it with the world. Joss... well, if you're here, signing this petition, you already know where this is going, so....here's hoping!
I'm not an american, so no network can gain directly from my obsession of all things Firefly. But if the show is adopted, the subsequent DVD would be bought by me, probably repeatedly. The original series I bought 5 times, one copy for me and my family (who are now all addicted including my 75 year old father) and one loaner set that I lend to friends to convince them to buy the series themselves. In this way at least 5 of my friends have bought the DVD set. We all would buy a second season, without hesitation
This is one of the best series I have seen since Star Trek - Next Generation. I think it is amazing that a network would let such a golden nugget die off. Maybe we need more reality tv crap in place of this excellent series?
Firefly was probably the best TV series I have ever watched. It moved me like nothing I have ever seen. I recently watched the movie in theaters and I came out crying. I would watch it again and again. The movie series itself I bought in the dvd box set on a recommendation from a friend, and it was so excellent I was amazed any sane network could pull them off. FIREFLY KICKS ASS!!!
