damnit i accidentaly clicked submit early.read first posting before this one. Like i was saying about re thinking, 1. motor power ,low displacement, reliable, fuel econemy. 2. Design the vehichle so that its stronger, lighter, and smaller. This allows for a vehichle to make the most out of its horsepower. after all this same concept has been in use in europe for almost a century. The best part about this concept is that when you increase horsepower in a smaller vehichle it is far more noticable than in a large car such as umm..... a muscle car. Thats exactly why that 120 horsepower honda would have a chance against your 500 hp crate motor. Now i am not saying that the honda would win the race but it would be a lot closer than the numbers would indicate. now lets make that a 280 hp honda and i think the results would most likely be diffrent. That would fair, a tuned honda vs. Crate V8. I am sure that you would bring tourqe into this if you could talk back. True hondas dont produce an enormous amount of torque stock but when you turbo charge them watch the numbers changes very quickly. and once again i am back to the thing about hondas weight advantage, when a car weighs less it requires less torque to move faster down the track. which is why that civic could kick your ass. I bet you drive a camaro or a mustang. May i remind you that in 1978 the mustang cobra with the good old 5.0 only made 150 hp wow that sucks. because a b16a from honda makes more horsepower than that out of only 1.6L. and that was a mustang cobra imagine what a base 5.0 was actually making at that time. that is embarrassing. now one more time what did you say "and the don't even know simple math. for example how could a 120hp 4 cyl. be stronger than a 500hp v8? they don't even know how automotive systems work" So true because your a math expert and 150 hp out of a V8 is more than 170 out of a honda. explain that one to me einstien. I love cars, they are basicly my life Growing up i was allways a huge fan of muscle cars i thought the same thing as you " how can a honda produce the same power as a good OLD american V8"? It wasn't until around 8th grade when my friend introduced me into the import tuning world that i realized that there was a world beyond displacemen. Now i will remind you this was before the fast and the furious. He drove a civic, i had yet to get my licence but i wanted to learn more about the tuning world so i listened to every word he said and i did my own research too. Your statement about a 120 HP HONDA against a 500 hp V8 is part true but it looks like you are comparing a completly stock d16z6(126 hp) honda civic to an after market or tuned crate motor. Not the same, some people will say what about the "Corvette Z06 with the LS7" that has 500 horsepower stock", true statement yes but the cost of a Z06 corvette is pushing porche prices.
