i am not a member of this community, but i am a person who detests sex crimes and i believe that although they have rights,we too have rights to protect our loved ones
I am stupified that RI does not have strict and enforceable laws protecting our children. I am a parent of three young girls. I want them as safe as possible! There are predators on our streets the public is not even aware of.
I support this petition & so should every other concerned citizen of this State. Unfortunately, I just lost a family member who I loved like my own child. We later found out the man who called in the 911 is on probation until 2025 for 2 counts of 1st & 2nd degree sexual assault during a buglary in committed in 1983. He has been arrested & charged 5 addtl times of B&E's; possession of fireare. His latest charge, obstructing a police officer, he did not show for pre-trial yesterday, 9/21/06. But this is normal for this Sex Offender in RI. The AG lets this guy out repeatedly. The Prov Detectives are no better. They have evidence to put this guy away, but they say the ATTORNEY GENERAL said NO.
Detective Sgt Sweeney did not return my family's call until 2 weeks after his death. He said "I was to busy working two murder cases" .... If the ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE and PROVIDENCE POLICE DEPT do not think it is important to protect the citizens of the State of Rhode Island from Sex Offender's *** IT TIME FOR A CHANGE ** WE AS CITIZENS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEG FOR JUSTICE ** And re-offender's should NOT be allowed to "WALK" from their crimes for IMFORMANTion. The next victim may be you or your loved one... PLEASE SUPPORT BILL HARSCH FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL
We really need a change someone who is truthful with the public. let me know if i can help you out in the northern part of the state we need to get you in that office Bill. We need to find out why owen's changed the ststion fire report. thank you Bill
because we cannot continue to turn away from the danger inherent in so many of our neighborhoods where sex offenders live in anonymity. How are we to protect our children and grandchildren from predators we cannot warn them about? Sex offenders and predators do not deserve more consideration than their victims, and we ought to do whatever is required to expose them and keep the spotlight on them so that potential victims are protected.
I support this petition because RI should no longer be one of the four states in the U.S. that has failed to meet the federal standard for sex offender registries; should we step up and make it safer for our children in RI? Yes.
PARENTS NEED TO KNOW!!!! I support this plan fully. Keep know Pediphiles in the open, don't give them a rock to hide under. KEEP OUR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SAFE.
As parents of children in this state, we need and have the right to know who is living in our neighborhoods. My third grader in Warwick was told she cannot ride the bus to and from school. We live exactly a mile from the school. I am appalled that in a state of this size, that all elementary students are not bussed! We have a level 2 offender somewhere in my neighborhood- Am I expected to let my child walk to school not knowing where this man lives?!!!
because it is ludicrous for the sitting Attorney General to be impotent on this issue. He is showing that he is not tough on crime at any level. If you won't take a firm stand on predators he wont take a stand on anything.
We should have the same safeguards as all the other states. Our elected officials should be working harder on our children's behalf. The percent that reoffend is astounding - Wake up Attorney General!
I support this petition because we need to hold our elected officials accountable for the safety of Rhode Island families. I support this petition because Rhode Island is one of four states that do not list exact addresses of known sex offenders. I support this petition because it is time that we fix the loopholes in our laws that sacrifice the protection of Rhode Island families for the protection of convicted sex offenders. Mostly, I support this petition as a father and husband who believes Rhode Island deserves better.
