RSD (Reflex Sympatheic Dystophy) also known as CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome), is a nerve disease that has no cure and not enough awareness known. As a 6 yr. RSD sufferer, it's my quest to bring awareness and education to the world about this horrible disease that currently has no cure. We experience pain that is unbearable, chronic and life changing. RSD usually affects limbs and it feels like we are standing in a bonfire 24 hrs. a day with no hope for relief. Right now there is no medicine that can truly take away the pain of RSD and this disease needs to be brought to the forefront so we can start fighting for a cure, just as those disease like cancer and AIDS. It does not discriminate, affects old, young, male, female, thin, fat, black, white. We feel it is a topic that would be perfect for Oprah and Dr. Oz! We know that Oprah has the voice we've been looking for and that we need! We hope she'll hear our plea! I must edit the meaning or CRPS- it stands for COMPLEX Regional Pain Syndrome, not Chronic. RSD is a disabling progressive multi-symptom disease of the nervous system involving nerves, skin, muscles, blood vessels, and bones, affecting one or more extremities in any part of the body, which is often misunderstood and not recognized. It is burning pain, the most painful form of chronic pain in existence and the slightest breeze, loud noises or clothing rubbing against you or your skin can cause extreme pain for all who suffer from it. No two people experience the same pain.
It can cause insomnia, and severe emotional stress and has been known to cause depression and suicide in some patients.
