Merrick is only good for running players through training drills. He has no tactics whatsoever! He definitely has not got an eye for talent. If he did, then why would he have sat Tadrosse on the bench or out of the squad completely? Was Tadrosse not good enough for Melbourne but good enough for the Bundesliga? I can't beleive Merrick has let our squad of 19 fall dramatically back to only 15 fit players. We have now lost two key players to overseas clubs and no replacements have been sought. If we keep this up, we won't have enough players to put in the squad! What happens to now his so called 3 year plan? Merrick says he is building a team to have success in 3 years time. How is this supposed to happen in a sport like this when every player's dream is to go overseas? it is not AFL where you can keep players at your club for long periods. We need success now! Not in 3 years time when our good players leave for better leagues. Supporters will not be around in 3 years time if we can't even make the finals! MVFC needs to establish its long term supporter base now and the best way to do that is to taste success but this obviously isn's important enought to the Club as they are willing to wait 3 years for it. We might not have a club by then. Sack Ernie and take Geoff Lord with you! Bring in Eddie and Crazy John!

I dont understand why they signed Ernie in the first place. He has no idea how to coach a senior team and this has been proven, and why when you need to win a game he makes subs the last 5 minutes. i have had enough and i will not be attending games if he is coaching next year. Its obvious the players dont want to play for him. HE MUST GO!

I support this petition as I personally belive that Merrick is a shocking Manager who may have full credentials but when it comes down to it, is not good enough. He made repeted bad selection choices which has left us out of the finals. You know what the right thing is....SACK ERNIE MERRICK!!
If you all didn't know Ernie Merrick is the highest qualified coach in Australia with a UEFA Pro-licence. Has coached at the VIS for the past 13 years and has made the step up to coach senior football in the A-League with Melbourne Victory. After what has happened this year he should go back to coaching juniors (in another country) as australias success at junior level has been crap as well
Oh, and as he walks out the door he should also take his SUPER striker Alsopp with him. You never know when you'll need a striker that scores goals at times when they count for nothing. Saying this it's also great that merrick has decided to keep young kids (such as diaco) on bench to really demoralise and shatter a young kid trying to prove he can make it!!
Maybe if he stays he'll buy Zdrillic and the two patatoes (Zdrillic and Alsopp) can stand up forward and dive, pose and miss open goals!!

Sack the board as well and cole/lord. Completely not up to it. Look at the way Sydney has outplayed us off the field aswell. Not to mention our ineptitude getting the club together ie ground, memberships, playing squad, not being able to make signings. The club shop in "Cheltenham"! They have just not captured the publics imagination with a top quality signing.

Why are we going back words. We need to go forword. We cant change the line up every week. We needed a new coach when we lost to Adelaide. Every other team in the A-League dont change they line up every week. Ernie take allsop with you and learn from the other teams in the A-League.

Merrick may have a UEFA 'A' badge, but it looks like he applied for it over the Internet. He has no Plan B, is a woeful talent spotter, and has the unique ability to adopt playing tactics which are completely unsuited to the personnel. As for Galekovic....seriously, nothing personal against Eddie, but sometimes you have to hold your hands up and admit that you are out of your depth. It would be criminal if the club buried it's head in the sand over this and did nothing, thus losing thousands of supporters.

I support this petition. I think that Merrick need to take a good long hard look at himself. When teams like Newcastle and Central Coast are above you in the league, something is wrong. Melbourne is the soccer heartland of the country and hasd a huge talent and supporter base compared to many of the teams above them in the ladder. Merrick looks out of his depth and might be better off getting himself down ton Altona Magic to hone his caoaching skills. He might have a UEFA 'A' coaching badge, but right now it looks as much use a badge for 25m backstroke.
