as a junior player, but out due to a knee reco in round 2 last year, i can tell where some players should be playing. its sad to see MV not playing finals..as the AFL the coach is always first to go. to keep the fans and the support they show,its time for a shake up..(New coach) Ernie Tapai thought of him?
The owners and the board should be more vigilant and not hide behind FFA. It's a pity that the new FFA is run and controlled by one man ( Lowy )..it's a dictatorship and MVFC is too scared to act for fear of any bad publicity by sacking a coach. Mr Lord, as the major owner, grow some balls and do the right thing for the future of the game if not for your investment which will decline rapidly at the standard of soccer being played from Melbourne. I fully agree with your summary. The non-playing of Sarkies and Kitzbichler was beyond comprehension, and the tactics have been amateurish at best. I wouldnt want to play with Allsopp at my SE Prov Div 2 side, Mitcham United. ps I am a Victory season ticket holder and have renounced the AFL.

Much like the majority of Austrlaia's "real futbol" lovers I was greatly looking forward too supporting the A-League especially with Melbourne Victory being one of the hopeful contenders. Judginging by the line up and the first couple of games we looked like we had a good chance but Archie Thompson isn't superman so pumping the ball long although effective in English soccer, is boring oand judging by where we are standing now is not effective in Australia where our soccer is growing internationally year by year. it was obvious and everybody has been saying it that it's the coaches responsibility to change the strategy of the team and their game if things aren't working out. I believe Melbourne Victory have saved some money this year in not purchasing a big name international player with an uncapped salary so why not concentrate on next season and look around the world, especially places like South America where the coaches are not being paid millions but there style of futbol will bring something new to the game. As far as this season is concerned consider it a right off and concentrate on trying new strategies even if you do lose by 4 or 5 goals. Can't be much worse than it is at the moment, as long as Melbourne is playing some attractive soccer and getting ready for next season. I've stopped going to matches as a result of getting too fired up at the ridiculous decisions made on substitues and strategy (or lack there of) but I do see potential in the current players. I'm more than happy to come back and even become a member but only on the basis that I see some changes starting with the coach.

I support this petition. merrick's explanations for sarkies non-inclusion in the team bordered on the ridiculous; something along the lines of "by playing him i would send a message to him that it was not necessary to work on aspects of his game that needed development" and that he had already played in the amount of games that he had identified as enough for him. get rid of him.

What is amusing after every match in his press conference he always used to say the lads did well today. Who are you kidding Mr.Merrick. The other thing I never see Allsopp getting subbed. 3 goals in a whole season is simply not good enough while players like Coveney scores 6 goals in 2 months.
Melbourne is a big city and we are competing against other big states and 7th position is a disgrace.
We need to be challenging for the championship so I see that Mr.Merrick has failed to deliver.

Ernie get your meek Scottish ass back to the VIS. You have no business managing an A- League team. Do the right thing and jump before you are pushed. That Goalkeeping rotation policy was the stuff of Under 12's.
Ernie has recruited all his bum chums from the v.i.s days.Better players going around in the VPL even state 1. Firstly they need a keeper how can you have to ordinary keepers at one club. Both the same age and theres better keepers going around in the VPL. Should have 1 experienced keeper like Clint Bolton and a 2nd younger keeper someone like Vukovic from central coast. Our midfield shambles and allsopp couldnt score in a brothel. Were the sporting capital of australia we demand the best were not interested in building a team to win in 5 years we want results now. The crowds wont be intersted in 5 years. The only positive about this season is the fans. Half the squad needs to be cut and we have to start at the back with a real keeper and build on that. We want SUCCEESS not excusses about having a young squad ernie recruited these players he should now take his players back to the vis so we can get a real coach who will sign real players who will bring success to us the fans who have always stayed loyal not made excusses.
