Facebook is special because it was only for college students. Already that has been altered, but to make it accessible to everyone gives it no purpose. I may as well just delete my account and stick with myspace.
It seems the day I've been fearing for oh so long is upon us... Their trying to open up Facebook to the masses. The reason I signed up on Facebook is because I was disgusted by just how "loose" MySpace was. Such a shame.
Facebook was never intended to reach outside of the academic arena... to do so would make it no different than MySpace, or Friendster, or any other social networking site. It would have no originality or appeal if opened to the general public.
Facebook needs to stay as it is, I feel that the high school students are too far as it is. I have a myspace, and a facebook, and I love both the functionality and privacy of facebook well over that of myspace.
Facebook should remain what it was meant to be: for schools. It's a great way to get in touch fast with people from your school, but if it becomes that anybody can register, that will ruin the fun of having one. We don't want another MySpace. Facebook is fine as it is. *Maybe* workplaces are okay, but leave out regions-only, please!
