In a world of remakes on top of remakes, and reality TV done to death, it's such a shame that the one network known to takes risks bails on the single most original show out there.
Carnivale has been one of the only shows that rely on mystery that actually has a powerful through-line that fully explains every little nuance in every episode. There is a level of exactness and attention to detail in the slow revealing of Carnivale's plotlines that makes it truly unique and impossible compelling to watch.
Once again the Networks have no clue as to what they are doing. Cancel one of the best shows out there and keep all the crappy ones? That's smert! Makes me want to throw my t.v set out the window. KEEP CARNIVALE ALIVE!
Carolyn Strauss, president of entertainment at HBO,said,"We feel the two seasons we had on the air told the story very well," however, there is more that needs to be told. Please renew, sell or make a 2 hour finale.
Carnivale has renewed my interest in serial television, given me hope that not everything out there must be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator, that not everything must be some form of faddish reality show to find a spot on the dial. Never before have I been so mesmerized by a television show, so engrossed in every detail. The writing, the imagery, the acting on Carnivale - all breathtaking! This is not just a show, this is an event! I am ever so grateful to you, hbo, for having the courage to put this show on the air! I am writing to you today, pleading with you to please have continued faith in the genius story that Daniel Knauf has only just begun to spell out for us. Please bring back Carnivale!
Our family lived for Sunday nights just to see the next episode of Carnivale. I dont know how you make your decisions about which shows to keep and which shows to cancel, but maybe you should rethink your methods, because you have renewed some things that we would NEVER watch! Please bring Carnivale back and renew our faith in television programing.
Carnivale is the most captivating show ever produced by anyone, anywhere. This was a very unfortunate decision and I pray that you will reconsider. Give Carnivale a better time slot and a respectable amount of promotion and you will be guaranteed much better numbers. You know it's true. This show is a phenomenon and clearly answers a deep need for your subcribers.Give it the support it deserves, stand behind it and watch the result. I dont feel this show was ever given the chance it should have been given. This IS NOT a cult hit! It has universal appeal! It should have universal promotion. Thank you.
HBO has made a huge mistake!! This decision shows no loyalty on their behalf to their viewers to leave us in limbo on such a great show. They could have at least finished it off in one more season. I hope they regret this horrible decision. HBO can leave a show on air about 4 ugly chicks in NYC for 5 seasons, but could not satisfy those of higher intellects. Thanks for nothing HBO. You Suck

hbo WAS known for it's amazing individuality in television programming from hard hitting documentaries to original series "CARNIVALE". What happened????
I've been an hbo subscriber since it's beginnings...but not anymore cancel Carnivale and cancel my subscription to hbo right along with it.
If HBO wants to cancel anything, it should be Entourage and Unscripted. If this is the new direction HBO is going...how very very sad. GIVE US MORE CARNIVALE!
Don't leave us hangin'! Give us another season of one of the greatest shows ever created, CARNIVALE! With Six Feet Under and Sopranos coming to an end, there will be NOTHING left for me...and no reason to subscribe to HBO.

I just read on the Carnivale site that the show was not renewed for a third season on the grounds that it was felt the story was adequately portrayed during the first two seasons. I disagree. Season 2 ended with the story line wide open, there was no closure. I need closure!!!

An incredible show. The writing and visual imagery are amazing. The plot line is engaging and the characters are so well written. This is the show that keeps the HBO subscription in our household.

I started watching Carnivale last year at my aunt's house and got addicted...man, what a great show. I cannot believe you are trying to cancel it...there is really nothing else out there to watch...I have a really busy weekend schedule, but always made time for Carnivale..the finale was awesome, but I want more! Please don't cancel it!!!
I love Carnivale! I cannot believe that it is being cancelled. What a waste! HBO needs to reevaluate this decision. It is a long-term investment that should be reconsidered. I don't know a single person that does NOT wait each week for the next episode. And the finale, left us wanting even more...please, please, please, think about it...and pick up another season. This is too good to give up...I might have to cancel HBO because the only other good show HBO has is Deadwood...and of course, it is NOTHING LIKE Carnivale..Carnivale's characters were well developed and complex, as was the imagery and plotlines. Please, is all I can say.
Carnivale is one of the BEST shows on TV. It's the only show that me and my husband make sure we watch every week. When I found out that it was going to be canceled that broke my heart. Without Carnivale, what's the point of keeping the subscribtion to HBO? PLEASE don't cancel it.
Carnivale is the best show ever on tv, let alone HBO. Every aspect of it from the characters to the costumes and the actual filming of it is amazing. Please dont deprive those of us who love the joy to see how the rest of the story unfolds.
Artistically, this is one of the best series I have ever seen on TV. Sets, costumes, music, the historically correct ambiance - I was completely transfixed by it every week. All the actors were fantastic, even though it must have been challenging to get a fix on character motivation in such surreal storyline. I was truly impressed. CARNIVALE always left me emotionally charged, spiritually uncomfortable, and always curious. I felt as if I was being transported to another world. It was exquisitely done and I resent deeply not being allowed to participate while the rest of the MYTH unfolds! Please give us at least a follow-up movie!!
I started watching Carnivale by accident and that was all it took. I looked forward to it every week to see what would happen next. They can't just leave us hanging I need to know what happens next.
I love Carnivale and cannot believe that due to HBO's own lack of promotion you have decided to take the coward's way out and cancel the show. It is an excellent show and there are left with too many unanswered questions which remain.
If HBO won't carry it then that at least warrants the marketing of the show to another channel. Until either the show is renewed or sold, I am more than happy and willing to cancel my HBO service.

You can rack up far greater DVD sales if you give it just one more season to finish.

I am bummed. so much potential for season 3 and many questions. I cant say I'm shocked though, as any drama I really get into is usally cancelled prematurely due to TV catering to the lowest common denominator. My So Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, now Carnivale. At least close up shop with a double finale or something. ANYTHING!!! Just some closure would satisfy many of us. No more HBO for my household! Goodbye Larry and Deadwood, it's been great, but I can wait for the DVD of both. NOT CARNIVALE!!!!
I am so outraged by HBO decision to cancel Carnivale. I believe that Carnivale is one of the best shows out there. I do watch Deadwood and Entourage but nothing keep me gasping for more than Carnivale. I believe that we should let HBO know that we are not easily amused, that we want storylines like Carnivale that motivate us to watch for the mystery and suspense.
This is the one show I cared enough about to 1) buy Season 1's DVD, 2) join the yahoo chat group and 3) sign a petition to keep it going.
At the very least, you could release rights to it so another station that sees the shows potential could carry it.
I expect you to decide to continue when you understand the number of dedicated viewers.
If financing is the problem, get creative, but don't just stop in the middle! Please,
continue Carnivale. It's such an incredibly original show, and the ONLY thing I watch routinely, in addition to Deadwood, of course.

Possibly the finest show ever on HBO. Bring it back, or at the minimum, give its loyal fans the courtesy of a two hour final episode to tie up all of the loose ends and mysteries. Soon there will be nothing left on HBO to justify the cost, and my subscription to HBO will be six feet under.
Every other series can be summed up in a few words, but Carnivale defies the ordinary - it is imaginative, majickal, fascinating and the most unique programming any cable network has offered. PLEASE don't shut down the show - there's no justification for aborting the programme without resolution. You wouldn't do this to Deadwood - Carnivale deserves to be completed properly.
I miss Carnivale already. I invested a lot on this show. such as my time, my thoughts, my praise for HBO, breath on conversations with friends and last but not least my money! Please, at the very least you owe the fans a 2 hour finale. This is just NOT RIGHT! Nothing else on TV comes close. I loves SATC but I didn't miss it a month after it finale like I do Carniavale. You made us care about this show and then stabbed us in the heart.
Carnivale is the most creative show on TV. I thought HBO was about creating clever, innovative, and "ground breaking" shows that weren't based solely on ratings!!! Don't let us down!
The only reason I have HBO is because of Carnivale!!! If you keep carnivale off HBO next season I will be canceling HBO and I will advise everyone I know to do the same.
