This actress has had major impact on the success of this soap. I realize that great emphasis is place the opinions of the focus group, but sometimes I think that such opinions could be overriden. I surely hope that the decision to delete this character does not prove to be counter productive as most viewers were becoming quite comfortable with the idea of Tad & Dixie becoming united to subsequently find and raise their biological child. I believe the interest in the
Babe & Chrystal show will eventually fade away as viewers are already getting a little tired of the repetitous acts of their character role play. As they say "you dont miss the water until the well is gone".
I am a(n almost) from the very beginning AMC fan. I now find that the soaps are the only shows on television that I can watch. Evening programming gets changed so much I can never count on a particular time or day anymore. But my beloved AMC and OLTL are always on at the same times except for a few major disasters and the President when they need to take over the time slot. Please do not ruin what is left of my love for Soap Operas. When Geanie Francis resumed her role of Laura I found myself making time for 3! Now I am back down to 2. But now Scottie has returned! I may have to check that out! Rethink your decision to off major components of your loyal following if Soap Operas are to continue into the future. Fans such as myself are the true loyals!
Killing Dixie and firing Cady Mcclain was big mistake. You know people get invested in characters and killing her off before they met their daughter was big mistake.
There are a lot of characters that are pretty useless like the loudmouth Colby and stalker Josh that could have gone or even
Jonathon.
You should reconsider your decision if you want viewrs to stay tuned to your show. If your ratings go down it is because of the loss a great actress and her character.
I have watched AMC since it started. Killing Dixie and ending the Tad and Dixie romance makes me want to give up on this show for good. I was so disappointed the producer thought killing Dixie would be interesting for the story line. WRONG! Fix this error please!

I really don't think TPTB at AMC have any idra of the popularity of Tad and Dixie. They've lost another 30+ year viewer due to the stupidity of letting Dixie go (especially because they didn't give resolution to the most super of super couples). I'm disgusted.
Killing Dixie is a major mistake. Did the soap world learn nothing from GL's mistake of killing Maureen Bauer?! There are certain characters that when killed damage a show longterm, Dixie is one of them. With ratings already sagging and another soap having just been cancelled, why opt for the short term boost when it undoubtedly means long term loss?
Cady Is one of the best acctresses ever and I may stop watching.. I waited years for her to come back.. Her and Tad Are the Super Couple.

I was so disappointed and angry when I saw Dixie killed off the show just when her and Tad were about to get back together. I, like every other fan, was looking forward to a reconciliation between them and hoping they would get Kate back. I agree they should bring her back as having faked her death somehow to help catch the killer. They did it before why not do it again. I know they probably won't though. Too bad--Tad & Dixie made the show and they were stupid to let her go the first time. Who's the next victom, Babe or Kendall? This story line really sucks!!!!
Cady McClain's departure took me to ATWT and away from AMC. Her return brought me back. Now I'm watching nothing but her website waiting for news that she'll be on TV again soon.

You build up Dixie's return and write a storyline to get viewers interested -- How can you then expect viewers to become so emotionally involved in the characters if you just discard them so easily. Why should we care about any character anymore!!??

i think after all the trouble amc went to get cady back and to kill her off when there is a plot developing for her is a really bad decision. i have waited 4 years to see her back and now this, i think it is a really bad decision, and since she is already killed off, and there always seems to be a miracle around when the priest shows up, can't they somehow bring her back?
We never actually saw her dead body so you can still bring her back. You can say you planned her death to draw the killer back. There is a story line there and her fans want it.
This is the worst most contrived storyline twist. If you needed to reduce the character list, you could have gotten rid of a multitude of other actors/actresses that are not doing much or adding much to the landscape. But Dixie is beloved - and everyone was routing for her and Tad (and needing him to have a great storyline finally too - and there is nothing that brings out his abilities like the Tad/Dixie story). Please reconsider.

I want to thank you for doing me a favor. I started watching this show at night with my wife after we got married. After 17 years of getting addicted to this stupid soap opera, I am finally free because my wife is so disgusted with the removal of key characters (David Hayward, Brooke English and now the final straw, Dixie)that she refuses to watch the show anymore. She starting watching back in the 1970s. Thanks for saving me 5 hours a week for the rest of my life -- WAHOOOOOOOO!!!
Killing Dixie was cruel and incredibly disappointing. I was sitting here enjoying seeing Dixie and Tad finally reuniting when wham, she was gone. I waited a year to see Dixie be the Dixie we knew and then you took her away. I have not watched AMC since that day and don't intend to watch it in the future unless I hear that she is back.
