Killing another wonderful actress like Cady is a big mistake. Since David, Maria, Edmund, Brook, etc have been written off, I will no longer watch. Seems like McTavish cares more about her bruised ego than the fans. I know when fans of shows get pissed they always threaten to stop watching. I will truly stop watching after she is killed off. Once a devoted fan.
I have watched All My Children since its inception. No other couple (on any show)has had such chemistry as Tadd and Dixie. They made us smile, they made us laugh, and they made us cry. I joined the other fans who rejoiced at Dixie's arrival back in Pine Valley. Writing her character out of the story line at this point would be a real tragedy! This move will definately cause me to quit watching my "favorite" soap.
I am disappointed with the firing of Cady McClain. If ABC is attempting to change their viewer demographic, they have certainly succeeded with eliminating one 40+ viewer who, in fact, has the means to support the AMC sponsors.
Lifelong AMC fan no more if this really happens! I got my mother hooked going back to Jeff and Mary - Tad and Dixie were always favorites! Stop the 20 something storylines and keep some of the vets around - they really make it interesting! I will not watch AMC after they get rid of Dixie!!!!
So after finally getting Cady to come back, the AMC "writers" mess with Dixie's character & then turn Tad into a sadistic torturer & murderer -- and now, just when T&D seem to be acting more like their real selves, they're killing her off? We had to endure the excruciatingly disgusting "Madden in a box" storyline, and now we won't ever get the payoff of T&D reuniting with Kate? AMC has absolutely no respect for their actors, or their viewers.
I am in shock! We have waited for Dixie to come back and for her and Tad to be reunited for far too long. Supercouples with the magic that Tad and Dixie have are few and far between... and not to be found anywhere in Pine Valley. For the first time ever, i am thinking about not watching anymore. I never thought this day would come for me.

AMC .. please stop pissing off your viewers! So many people love Vincent Irizarry, Julia Barr, and Cady McClain!! Everyone wants to see Tad Dixie and Kate together as a family.. how can you kill her off?? Please reconsider.
Whoever has been writing Dixie/Cady's storylines is/are who should be 'killed off'. Terrible writing directing for almost all cast members. What a travesty. Dixie has been a meddlesome interloper....Kelly Giddish did a better Dixie ... she'll go on to bigger better things but Cady defiinited needed & deserved better storylines & writers!
Now we have to watch the untenable evolution of "BARF" ... Bianca is a LESBIAN, Zarf is transgender. They can realistically be friends, but not Lovers gimme a break! The actor who plays Zarf/Zoe is great...but not BARF, please. Couldn't McTavish/Hanan/whomever is in charge now and the stupid writers have anticipated that one? They have such disdain for the fans/viewers. Which is why they are killing off Dixie. Boo. Bad AMC Bad ABC ... get over yourselves.
I have watched AMC since day one. I was in nursing school when it started and my classmates and I would all go down to the student union for lunch and AMC. We would miss it on our hospital rotation days but kept each other in the loop as to what was happening. It was a ''relevant'' soap. It touched on a lot of hot button issues. And, it had something else that had been missing from other soaps - humor.
It also had a character rich cast. There were maids, butlers, friends, acquaintances, hairdressers, etc. Who can forget Mrs. Valentine, Mr. Jim and Ethel at the Glamorama, Jasper and Myra, or, Petra, Jamie's nanny . . . too numerous to mention. These characters gave a depth and richness to the story that was missing from other soaps. Alas, these too are long gone.
My mother watched it. She loved to hate Phoebe but was morally torn over Mona and Charles affair while he was married to Phoebe. My daughter watched it. She was crazy about Greg and Jenny and loved to hate Liza. She fell in love with Tad the Cad. My mother passed away at the same time that Mona died and I can still so relate to Erica and her grief for her mother. I'm sure that my mother related to the grief that Erica gave Mona as a teenager. Brooke's profound grief at the loss of her cherished daughter echoed my profound grief at the loss of my cherished son.
I can still think of old favorites who have come and gone without really damaging the basic integrity of the story. What the ABC/Disney power brokers are doing now violates the integrity of AMC and the trust relationship with the fans. We know that this is a business and it is a business that has to show a profit. We understand that shortcuts have to be taken and sometimes contracts have to be renegotiated. I know that they think they know best and that they truly have no interest in this soap or any other genre, for that matter. These are business men and women to whom nothing matters
Please Please do not fire Cady. She is awesome. We spent four years waiting for her to return just to have her get killed off again. That is not fair! Please do not fire Cady!!!
I never watched soap operas until I watched Tad and Dixie on AMC at my grandmother's. I fell in love with their relationship. It's sad for me to hear that Dixie is being cut out in a manner so unworthy of her character. Now I have even less reasons to watch any soap operas.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. KEEP WHATS FAMILIAR. ADULTS BUY YOUR CDS,ADULTS GO TO SUPER SOAP AND ADULTS BUY YOUR MAGS AND ARE IN THE MAJORITY OF WATCHERS. WE NEED MATURE STORIES FROM PEOPLE WE KNOW AND LOVE AND ARE TIRED OF NEWCOMERS.
This is the dumbest move ever. We waited months for a resolution to this storyline only to have it end in the air like so many other storylines on ABC these days.
I watched AMC from the start, but stopped a number of years ago with all of the weird story lines...I just started back last summer...and I stayed to see Dixie and Tad....Brooke...and now you are ruining my reasons to watch....
Dixie is only one of about five interesting characters left on the show. Please reconsider. David, Brooke, now Dixie? I'm afraid this will be the last straw for me. Don't you care (just a little bit) about what the viewers want? No more 20-somethings! If you'd focus on (and KEEP) your vets (like Dixie) you would watch your ratings SOAR!
Tad and Dixie used to be one of the best super couples in daytime. I was so excited to hear when Cady was returning. Leave it up to AMC to have her return only to kill her off. I can't bare to watch Tad go through another heart ache. If the writers of AMC have any sense you will keep Cady McClain. I believe Days Of Our Lives is calling my name.
back in the STONE AGE those of us of the female gender were required to take home ec. as luck would have it, my teacher had the shop teacher hook up her small b&w t.v. so during her lunch she could watch her soap. well, I had this class from 10:30- 11:30,& lunch 11:30-12:00. so we would cook our cheeseball, pigs in ablanket,etc.during class and eat lunch in front of her t.v. the network changed her soap time to make way for a new soap. it was "all my children". now that you understand how long i have been watching (it started off 30 min. long in b&w) you can understand how sad i am that the writers have no respect for lifelong viewers who have stuck by this show through all the ups and downs. to kill off one of the main veteran actors is like a slap in the face. don't the writers realize we have all been waiting for a tad&dixie reunion? It kinda makes me think they want to get rid of us older viewers and with a little more stunts like this one they will have accomplished their goal. how sad. o'well, I've always said I needed an extra hour in my day, and now the writers at amc have given it to me. It's an end of an era for me and it makes me sad. They might have just been actors playing parts, but they were like friends and family to all of us loyal viewers. I wlll miss them one and all, but why watch and wonder "who's next"? please, please,please change your minds.....
i was a big fan of Tad and Dixie and what the idiot writers are doing to her is inexcusable. I won't be sticking around AMC any longer, I'm headed to Y and R where VI is and to ATWT if Cady ends up there. So much for viewer loyalty!
Please do not kill Dixie off!! I hated the way she was brought back back, and didn't care for her character, but now that she is back to acting like her old self again. She is great. She has always been able to move me to tears with her acting. It can really touch you heart and she makes you feel her pain. Especailly as a mother. I have watched this story forever. All the people that have been on for a long time all of a sudden disappear. Whoever the writters are now are really doing a poor job. They really need to get it together, the story is going down hill and its such a shame. Too many good people leaving!!! Writers get your act together or maybe you should leave!!
If I were in charge I would have kept David, Opal, Brooke, and Dixie and gotten rid of everything and anything to do with Zarf. It's a sad day in Soap Opera History. Doesn't Agnes nixon have a say anymore?

THe reason viewers don't like Dixie is because of the writers. THe old DIxie was great the liar/Zach magnet was too out of character, even for a soap opera.
This show has turned into the laughing stock of daytime tv! If there is any decency left at ABC daytime you will not get ride of Cady. Its bad enough other actors were fired or choice to leave because of poor or no writing for their character and the only thing left is a bunch of talentless teenagers. I refuse to watch anymore. I can't say how disappointed I was to read the news this week that Cady had been fired and Dixie was being killed off. It's just too cruel when she was so close to finding her daughter. Tad and Dixie's reunion with Kate was the one hopeful story in a very dark show. But death is never permanent on soaps. If you can bring back an aborted fetus you can bring back Dixie.
How dare you bring back Dixie after all these years only to have her killed off!! This is ridiculous. And to kill her off before she can find Kate, the reason for her coming back to Pine Valley. Why is she getting fired? I don't believe this story about Focus Groups. I always fast forward through the Babe/Krystal scenes. And the Jeff/Erica scene is stupid as well. If Dixie goes, then I go.
You will definitely lose this viewer if you write out Dixie. How dare you write out Dixie before she can find Kate. This is what we loyal fans have been waiting for all this time. I am disgusted and revolted by the way AMC is treating the more seasoned and talented actors. Rather than give us Emmy-worthy performers like Julia Barr and Cady McClain, we are forced to endure the over-the-top melodramatics of actresses like Alicia Minshew, and Alexa Havins, neither of whom has ever won an Emmy or done anything to improve AMC's ratings. Get rid of the no-talent dead weights and your ratings will surely be revived.
Shame on AMC for destroying what was once the best show on the air. Now all we get are revisions of history, dropped storylines, science/medical fiction and character assassinations. I watch because of the veteran actors. I will not watch AMC any more. The I will not watch anything on ABC. Gray Power. :-)
I am very disappointed with the recent loss of AMC veterans. First Julia Barr leaves and doesn't get a goodbye on the show and now they are killing Dixie when we are just beginning to see a real storyline for the character. TPTB are making a huge mistake getting rid of all the veterans on the show and I'm sure the ratings will drop even further in February after Cady McClain makes her final appearance. If they are smart they will change their minds and SAVE DIXIE!!!

i have been a faithful viewer since amc began 37 yrs ago--the firing of dixie & other veteran characters is mind boggling--one of amc's strongest assets has always been its ability to cast & keep phenomenal actors & treasure the continuity of bringing back the original characters and actors who played them to preserve the realisim of the show & storylines--i've seen quite a few blunders lately in favor of younger more shallow characters without the talent & staying power of the veterans. That sense of history & in depth character developement & evolution is what puts amc above all the others & i fear it is losing this edge. will someone please wake up & listen to the long time viewers who's voice should be the most valued?

I have been watching AMC since the 70's. Tad & Dixie are my favourite characters. I hung in there when Tad was "dead", then when Dixie was "dead". Hey ABC - kill off Dixie, you kill of viewers. With all the crap you've been feeding us lately this is the straw that broke this camel's back. Bye bye.

What is happening to AMC. They are getting rid of everyone I love to watch and replacing them with people I find no interest in watching. My only hope is that if AMC doesn't wise up and not kill Dixie off, that AMC's lost will be ATWT gain and Cady will return as Rosanne.

I started watching AMC regularly right after Dixie died the last time. I fell away for a few years but began watching regularly again after last December. After this, I'm done. They finally give Cady a good storyline and they decide to kill her off. It makes no sense. So long AMC.

Don't kill Dixie off by the Satin Slayer. Too permenant. No room to bring the character back. This character is a backbone character to this show and her death is outrageous. Ther is still a storyline for Dixie that needs time to be complete, and the fans want her to reunite with Tad. After 26 years of AMC after the death of Dixie, I'm gone. The show is really going downhill.
