This petition is to save the long running Grange Hill Fan Site - Grange Hill Online & to show support in favour that Grange Hill Online should be allowed to use copyrighted material which was censored from the site just because of Lime Pictures not wanting the competition between the official site for Grange Hill and the unofficial site for Grange Hill.

Since www.grangehill.com was launched in early 2003, there has been a cold war between the official site and the unofficial site www.grangehill.net (Grange Hill Online).

It was openly admitted that Grange Hill Online provides Grange Hill "wonderful publicity".

However Lime Pictures (former Mersey TV) started sending letters to the service providers of Grange Hill Online in 2004 saying that they were infringing the copyright of their company and of the BBC on a large level. They also accused Grange Hill Online of driving traffic away from the official site and even Grange Hill itself.

GH Online was using a number of images from Lime Pictures sites, but only for essential illustrative purposes on pages such as character profiles, episode guides and Star File. The BBC has discontinued printed cast photos, so this option is no longer available.

Lime Pictures even objected the use of images grabbed from home tapings of Grange Hill!

Grange Hill Online only seeks to have a working arrangement with Lime Pictures and guaruntee that all images will of course be credited to them.

All attempts to get "official" press photos of Grange Hill and it's characters have been ignored.

In contrast, when Grange Hill was made at BBC Elstree the crew were very supportive of GH Online and were happy to allow us to publish character photos on the site.

As copyright owners of Grange Hill, Lime Pictures are perfectly entitled to protect their intellectual property and, if necessary, take action against us. But if they pull the plug on a site which generates valuable and positive publicity for Grange Hill, it's the programme which could suffer. And it's hardly fair to the fans.

Grange Hill Online would love to gain official recognition from Lime Pictures and continue to hope they will lend their support to GH Online.

Phil Redmond has even praised the site in his weekly column for the Liverpool Daily Post. To date, no dialogue has been forthcoming.
