As some of you may know, they are making a movie about Ian Curtis and Joy Division called "Control". Anyway this is all well and good but I have a bit of a problem with it and this it:
The music will have an original JD soundtrack - and there will be another soundtrack with JD cover versions. Bands will be given a song and just 'a couple of days' to record it. No bands that have been approached have turned it down. Update: at March 2005 the following bands have reportedly been approached U2, Marilyn Manson, Kraftwerk, The Smiths and Doves. Only Kraftwerk are reported to have said no.

This is a major problem. I refuse to stand by at let Marilyn Manson butcher a song from anouther one of my favorite bands. He's already done a terrible cover of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus and the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams and now he's going to do Joy Division. As a loyal fan of Joy Division I can NOT sit back and allow this to happen. Come fellow Ian Curtis lovers, let us unite agaisnt this evil!

Final note:
Please do NOT sign this petition saying that you want Marilyn Manson to cover Joy Division, this is serious and I am going to be sending this into the...well...someone who's working with the film. I'm not just some girl blowing steam, I'm trying to stop this from happening, if you want to stop me, make your own petition but don't sully mine.
