Created by Jumeirah Beach Dubai on March 21, 2007, 3:16 am

The Jumeirah Beach in Dubai is a public beach in the superior sense of the word - it really does belong to the community, locals and expats alike.
We are sure there are many people out there that would feel deprived of their right to a better quality of life if that beach is closed.
The absurdity and greed of it all is obvious - does the government really need the money from another real estate development? - and we think it is time the citizens of Dubai take action and start showing what they think.

Please support this cause and pass it on to as many people as possible. We hope to raise 1000 signatures and present them to the Ruler of Dubai.

4,068 30 Mar 2007 - 19:07    Save Jumeirah Beach : A VICTORY FOR DUBAI !!! We will issue a thank you statement to those who signed the petition, and to those who supported this noble cause. It is inspiring to witness such a spirit of community from the locals and residents, sharing the same concern and love for Dubai. Today, Dubai marked its willingness to remain in the path of sustainable development, thanks to the wisdom and vision of its leader: HH Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.
4,067 30 Mar 2007 - 16:47    Jo : Finally the project has been scrapped. Honestly i never expected such a quick decission. But it proves that authorities are indeed concerned about our feelings. Did we manage to submit the petetions to Sheikh Mohammad

4,064 30 Mar 2007 - 14:19    Andreas Engeli : It appears that every inch of land in Dubai is owned by developers. The beach is the only piece of public accessable nature left in this city. Don't give it up!
4,063 30 Mar 2007 - 13:55    VickyLynagh : The beach is a wonderful part of Dubai for residents and tourists alike. Without public beaches, Dubai will lose a big part of its appeal. Please leave it for the use of the masses.
4,062 30 Mar 2007 - 13:43    Kevin Stokes : Had a fabulous holiday there in 05, and we're coming again in July...leave it as it is please.

4,060 30 Mar 2007 - 12:01    Henri et Chantal : Please save the beach
4,059 30 Mar 2007 - 11:57    Hassan Al-Hassany : Real estate is what is keeping Dubai alive, but it should not take the stakes of our beloved beach. Dubai owns a rich geographical position, it is on the coastline of the Arabian Gulf so, why not establish your estates along Jebel Ali where no residents even go there? It IS on the beach now isn't it??
4,058 30 Mar 2007 - 11:49    Siddika : We have lived here for more than 25 years and cant see the beach going in front of our eyes.
4,057 30 Mar 2007 - 11:46    Husain :

4,050 30 Mar 2007 - 10:41    Anastasia : Please keep the beach, the only change i would make is to keep it pervert-free
4,049 30 Mar 2007 - 10:37    Sara Cairnes : I support this
4,048 30 Mar 2007 - 10:36    Marina Tondera : The beach is a piece of nature in the city. Please leave it untouched for us and kinds to keep the link and enjoy. How else you will teach young generation that not only money matters if the surrounding is shopping malls, expensive hotels, and artificial islands? It is so easy to destroy, but once it’s done, there is no way back. Please PLEASE think twice before developing on this unique untouched beach line yet another “commercial & hospitality facility”.
4,047 30 Mar 2007 - 10:32    julie Tave : For 8 yrs walked on the beach and am shocked, especially now that we live in France. Dubai is loosing its opportunity to become a world class beach resort...now it is "punishing" itself!
4,046 30 Mar 2007 - 10:17    Amanda Rayner : It is a wonderful beach. Please keep it free for everyone to enjoy.
4,045 30 Mar 2007 - 9:43    Jiggy Kapadia : Unbelievable. Today Jumeirah, tomorrow all of Dubai.
4,044 30 Mar 2007 - 9:32    Tondera Marc : More construction, more pollution...why not to leave this the beach as it is?
4,043 30 Mar 2007 - 9:05    Tim Robinson : It's not as though there is nowhere else to develope.... leave the beach for all to enjoy!!!
4,042 30 Mar 2007 - 8:39    marie quigley : Please please do it.
4,041 30 Mar 2007 - 8:10    Louise Pedersen : This is one of Dubai's most beautiful spots - keep it as it is, please!
4,040 30 Mar 2007 - 4:24    W Robert Akielan :
4,039 30 Mar 2007 - 2:02    Muhammad Ali :
4,038 30 Mar 2007 - 1:59    Leonora Ayad : The beach is one of Dubai's few natural assets with more beauty than the countless developments going on. Most beachfront has already been developed. It will be a huge loss if this beach is also taken from the people of Dubai..
4,037 30 Mar 2007 - 1:12    hiba Albakree : i hope this beach stays for all the kids who enjoy it every weekend and are unable to use the expensive private beaches. please visit this beach on friday and saturday and look around!!! wake up!!

4,034 30 Mar 2007 - 0:40    Ian Berry : My family and I had a holiday in Dubai in Spring 2006. Jumeirah Beach was a haven of natural beauty amidst the ultra modern Dubai cityscape. Once you lose this oasis, you can never retrieve it.

It is now that i live in England that i realize how precious the beach is-especially the public ones! If dubai wants beaches for property developments...build more palms!
4,030 29 Mar 2007 - 23:03    Noora Khoory : freedom!

4,019 29 Mar 2007 - 20:49    Judi Blyth : I thought there had been a ruling a couple of years back that there would be no more beach front development!! What's happened?!!So many people get joy from the Umm Suqeim beach how can it be used for more housing and hotels? Isn't there enough already planned?!!!!
