I have lived in Dubai on and off since 1971 and I really feel upset to see one of the only places people on modest incomes can go with their families is being removed to only cater for the rich! I hope someone will be able to stop this as soon as possible...
There is so much desert to build on why use that small patch of beautiful coastline. You've already taken away the old chicago beach leave kite surf alone!!!!
Another brick in the wall of the destruction of Dubai... Dubai used to be a place where residents were respected and changes were made to benefit us... not so much anymore, tourists seem to be the first priority and residents are taking the back seat!
I think this is going a bit over-board now, there are already so many hotels along the beach in Jumeirah. Where do you think the general public is supposed to go to enjoy a day by the sea. The sea is God's natural gift to mankind and should be accessable to everyone alike. Please leave the beaches alone. There is so much land on the other side of the Shk Zayed Road to develop
This beach is one of the few places that all people of Dubai can enjoy and use for free. Please leave the natural beauties of Dubai to be enjoyed by everyone and not just greedy real estate developers.
When hearing the news that this (our)beach is going to be "developed", I felt a big emptiness within me. Does not every city need a place for its inhabitants to enjoy? Dubai has 90% expats - should the Municipality not also care for us? Shopping malls for the locals and at least one beautiful public beach for expats? Unfortunately that is not the end: Safa Park is also already earmakred to give way for the creek extension...
The Public Beach next to the Burj Al Arab Hotel is (was?) one of the last safe, clean, accessible free stretches of beach in the Dubai area.
As a keen surfer it is the last of coastline to receive surfable waves due to the various 'island' developments. I am not speaking for a few, on many occasions I have counted in excess of 75 surfers in the water enjoying the waves at one time, add to this the 100's and oftentimes 1000's who flock to the beach to enjoy the surfing spectacle and one gets an idea of the numbers of happy, healthy, appreciative individuals and families who enjoy this great city amenity.
I cannot count the number of times that I have seen amazed and excited camera clutching bus loads of tourists who marvel at the sight of surfers and waves in this desert landscape. The photographic memories and stories that they take home to their home countries is positive publicity that "can't be brought" Surely someone in authority has the intelligence to realize the value of a clean, free to the public beach filled with people enjoying the waves with the worlds most luxurious hotel as a back drop?
Please save Sunset Beach and the waves.
In Dubai the Jumeirah beaches should be compared to forests in/surrounding the big cities area in Europe or USA. But of course you could not imagine one minute these forests to be transformed in resorts or luxoury areas only for few. Why should it be the case in Dubai. This is the real question I guess.
I am fed up of seeing our beaches become another 'free, sandy area' to build yet ANOTHER building. I scuba dive at leisure and the waters are full of amazing things to see. Even just chilling on the beach is definitely where I find solitude. It angers me to see that the one thing I enjoy the most may soon come to an end - as I (and everyone else out there) will have to start paying to use a beach that will evidently belong to some random real estate company..Come on, Dubai - surely, you're better than this?
Apart from our own families our we take our visitors. They are surely considered as tourists, they always come back for more of Dubai and spread the word !!!! If not for us keep it for them!!!
The avearge joe & family needs a place to chill out and not have to shell out a small fortune to enjoy the sea, sand and sun. It was made public for this reason and it should be illegal for DONALD TRUMP wannabees to take it over for yet another overopriced beach front property that no-one can afford.
How can a community develope in Dubai when you are taking everything that is public and free away from the residents. Where are we supposed to go now that Jebel Ali will be gone soon too. You must put your people first locals and expats alike.
It is amazing that Dubai is aiming to be one of the top 10 spot for tourism destination and in the same time denies them access to a Beach.
Dubai Government should remember that not all Tourist or even Dubai Residence can afford the 5star prices of Dubai Hotels.
Have some common sense, Dubai is sun and beach…without a Beach what you left with !!!!!!!
