how can you see only short term profit... Let people enjoy public beaches, it's part of Dubaï and part of the reason why people enjoy living here.
That's true we don't pay for access on the public beaches, but it's part of the reason we come to live and spend our money here.
I was born in Dubai and have seen the city grow...even seen the beach getting more organised but never expected it to just go away like this! I mean come on guys are you not satisfied with bldgs on Shk zayed road? Please leave the beach alone!
i've only been back in Dubai just under 7 months now, this time to live. 10 years ago ,on my first visit, we were spoilt for choice. now it seems the only choice will be to pay. there is only one way to discribe it, GREED. they always advertising about come to Dubai and see the beautiful city and beaches. yes it is a beautiful place and i love being here, but they forgot the small print to say you also have to pay for the sand and the sea.
It is a shame beaches should be public, ther is no nature in Dubai and for a lot of people the beach is the only place to relax! So PLEASE!!!! There is already enough stress in this country!!!!
The few remaining stretches of public beach are a national treasure and should be treated accordingly.
There is nothing greater than camping on the beach out Jebel Ali, or at least back when you could... thats all gone too.
Please SAVE THE BEACHES
The natural, open beach is one of the greatest things about Dubai. Just down the road. How can anyone think that a row of highrise buildings that look like communist houses or a commercial "waterfront development" be a better thing??
The Dubai govt needs to tell us exactly what the beach devlopments are going to become. If they take the beaches away from the people of Dubai they will be making a mistake of huge proportions.
There are not so many open beaches in Dubai, it is important to keep and protect the ones everybody enjoys. It would also be good to start preserving the environment...
Dubai is a country that has been blessed by beaches and yet we see them going to the dogs in real estate everyday. Not only are there hardly any public beaches left, but the beaches and coral are being destroyed by pollution and construction.
this is utterally ridculous and so mercanary it beggars belief - this was the only public access beach and it is now closed off. The government should be ashamed
Beaches are public places, belonging to 'the people' the world over. UAE should adopt a Marine Preserve, a band along its shores, restricting development to a distance of 100m or so from the waterline. There is plenty of other land why on earth build right on the beach.
Please do not take away the best public beach in Dubai. If there is a project planned, could this not be 2 kms further down where nobody would be bothered. Why must it be the best beach - does Dubai no longer care for its inhabitants and their wellbeing?
This beach is where i planned to propose.... i dont think i will be doing it with machines and construction all around...This place is what dubai is all about... Dont be foolish lets keep this beach as something the public has for themselves
So where are we exactly supposed to be going from now on?
Down to Jabel Ali free beach they are building the Waterfront. It used to be my favourite beach and the only place where we could take our dogs for walks and camp with children and friends....now
the only free beach in the city will be gone too...where will we need to go to be able to be outdoors without paying for it?nature shouldn't be taken away from people.
We need to stop living in a construction site, and enjoy the natural beauty of Dubai, remembering that it is not just lego land! There's a lot of talk about vision of the future, what DUbai will look like years from now, which is all fine, but what about the happiness of Dubai's residents today? Or do people have to start leaving before someone starts listening???
Dubai Water Ski Club, Jebel AliSailing Club,Jumeirah Beach Club, now the last of the PUBLIC beaches are all vanashing in the name of property development. What a waste.
The message the government are sending out is Dubai is only for the RICH. Well where would the rich be if the workers are not here to provide all the services like health, leisure, shopping etc. It is these middle class workers ,that require some relaxing time on the beach while not particularly want or can pay the prices of the pretentious beach clubs to se the beach. The government is slowly taking away one of the few, free pleasures for me. I can see alot more "workers" feel hard done by at the end of the day if one gets a chance to enjoy a beach and work elsewhere they will take it. Your infrastructure will not do so well, and you can least afford that.
Beaches are the one place EVERYONE can go, regardless of money, age and race. They are a natural resource that should be left for everyone to enjoy..... we have to pay for everything in this world, is it too much to ask that you leave this one thing free???!!!
O DUBAI, Pearl of the Gulf defend the jewel of your crown.
Do not surround Jumeira Public Beach to the greedy developpers.
Preserve the standart of Excellency that you have achieved after so much efforts.
Stand for your vision of an international tourist attraction for the coming century.
Keep the wonderful gift inherited from your fathers
For all this raesons Jumeira Public Beach must remain accesible to everyone
We are now all sons of DUBAI
they will destroy this beach only to build an articifial one in the middle of the desert!!!
please dont destroy jumeira beach! its one of the very few natural spots in cosmopolitan Dubai.
Nobody at this stage seems to really know what is going to happen...will the beach be fenced off along its entire length? Who knows. Half the time here that is the problem...no one knows for sure and the rumour mill kicks in. Having said that, it would be nice, for once, if something was left as nature intended. After all, what else do you need for a "beachfront lifestyle " apart from a beach and some sea !
You realise that tourist visit Dubai is to shop and visit its beaches. The beaches are already suffering from the Palms that are springing up, which have detracted from the overall white sand and infinite blue waters.
To privatise or build on it would be a serious blow to the tourism…. It should not be allowed!
Blue waters should not be just for the rich!
How can you take away the main focal point of dubai for many local residences? It is also likely to put off potential tourists as this type of news travels far and fast!
I moved to Dubai from London for a change in lifestyle. I used to go to this beach every weekend. It is getting very questionable if the lifestyle change is actually for the better.
maybe they will start to charge people just to get off the plane at Dubai airport; can they sell us the air we breathe? It appears everything is for sale; now we must just agree on a price.
I feel Dubai is selling even its soul: this last piece of undeveloped beach where residents & tourists can spend leasure time away from the usual "artificial" places in Dubai. It's really sad that all places meanwhile have to be commercial.
Bear in mind the great, iconic coastal cities of the world like Sydney, Cannes, LA and others - they all have public beaches where people are free to roam and enjoy the sea for what it is. Restricting access to the privileged few, or those that can afford it is depriving this city of whatever is left of its soul. So much for adding 700 kms of coastline to Dubai - that's all private beach too. Leave Jumeirah beach off this rabid development strategy...
Ahhh! Another case of a greed, avarice driven effort on the part of the govt. I would rather pay tax, and then tell them where they can shove their development.
I've never understood how property developers can claim beaches as their own, when technically they're part of the sea, aren't they!? Taking one of our last public beaches from us is criminal.
Give someone an inch and they will take a mile. Yet more greed from the property developers. Not only taking away a public beach but desicrating natural environment in the process
