Vision? My butt.... How can you have "vision" when you destroy the natural environment... and the best view of one of the world's 'iconic' buildings.... Madness, total madness.
Maybe it is time to get a wellknown and experienced city planner in Dubai, who knows about the needs of people, to be able to live in a friendly environment that is adding to the quality of life that Dubai wants to promote!
Why decision makers in this country don’t give it a moment of thought before they just add a new piece to the puzzle. As if it’s not enough that we ended up being a dumpster for developed countries’ products.
I expect the big plan is to eventaully build a mock beach in a mall for us all to enjoy. Just leave the beach alone_ Dubai Waterfront, Jebel Ali is bad enough with the loss of beach there too. I thought the Madinat was enough to impress tourists etc
It's important that the Dubai authorities establish a beach front strategie. The dubai beach is a spendid asset for the city which has not been developped and is left to individual owners and developpers. In addition to focussing on the dubai marina and the palms, the city of dubai should put in place a real beach front concept, which one can find in cities such as LA, Barcelona, Miami etc...Please Dubai, make us a beautiful and enjoyable beach front for all and don't fall into the trap of leaving its destiny to individuals and developpers...
It’s not just about a beach closing.. it's about value… and while the value of beaches, sports clubs etc might not equate to the big bucks developments bring in, it adds tremendous value to quality of life… They want skilled professionals to take this country to new heights, but if there is no quality to their life here then expect them to leave in droves.
10 yrs. ago we have so many choices where to go: Jumeirah,by Wollongong,Safouk( Palm Jumeirah now), between Jumeirah hotels (Dubai Marina now), by JA hotel (Palm JA), futher out from Jebel Ali (all Dubai Waterfront). Leave at least something for us.
Please don't take the last place of public beach from us!!! if you take this, what is there to do in Dubai than to go shopping or pay loads of money to go to a beach club?!
Let's get out of this city! I came for the lifestyle but gradually day by day, it's just turning into a money-grabbing society. You can just feel the greed all around
Not everything is money! hotels will not have enough beds for people who are paing enough fees to have at least this patch of land for weekend of normal life. I can not rase my children in place where life is the MONEY, nothing else.
this is one of many recreational outlets for the communiyt which have/will close: jebel ali sailing club; creek rowing and aquaitics club; duabi country club; dubai rugby exiles club; cricket club
Soon there won't be anywhere outside for our children to play then we'll be told they're getting fat! The beach is for everyone to use free of charge for a change.
Goverment people, for once forward plan. If we loose all our beaches and public areas, people won't want to be in Dubai and will start looking elsewhere. Use your brains!!
It is a shame that the government hasn't realised that the sale of another piece of this natural environment will have a negative effect on the tourist trade that Dubai relies on.
It would be such a pity to see this place disappeared. It is actually a beautiful harmony of mixed population. Let it like this please.
Thanks to hear us.
Having recently walked from Dubai Dry Dock to Jum beach Hotel, I can Honestly say that I was not only shocked by the development however the erosion of Dubai's famous resource is pittiful. Somehting has to be done.
Having surfed Jumeirah Beach on a number of occasions I can really appreciate its importance as a Public Open Space in an increasingly developed urban landscape. To most people the beach represents freedom and a place to escape the hectic nature of modern life. Save Jumeirah Beach for the people's sake!
Great Cities in the world like New York, London and Paris have free parks remarkably located. Dubai has a beach. Does Dubai want to remain a great City?
